Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:TEDxScotlandville

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:TEDxScotlandville, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. It is important to note that all TEDx events share a common purpose of promoting the spread of innovative ideas and diverse perspectives. Therefore, singling out TEDxScotlandville for deletion while allowing other TEDx event articles to remain on Wikipedia would seem biased and unfair. Ghostofdarrenseals (talk) 02:00, 8 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Please see WP:NEVENT. Events need to have already acquired significant coverage about the event itself from multiple reliable and independent sources to be considered worthy of inclusion. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 06:18, 8 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Also, I can't see where you have responded to the COI notice above Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:41, 8 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
My name is Darren Seals Jr, hence my username. I have no connection to TEDxScotlandville in any form or fashion. One of the speakers posted their involvement on Facebook, and I started doing research on the event and the area. Apparently, the article I attempted to write for WIKI was rejected and deleted, even though the event had many national speakers such as grammy award winning beatboxer Rahzel (NYC), Wise Intelligent, and the Mayor of Baton Rouge, who gave her only TED talk at this event. I have no conflict of interest, but I believe that WIKI is very biased with a lot of racist overtones, which leads to the deletion of many articles that are important to Black people, not just this licensed event that was covered in the news, similar to other TEDx locations that, for some reason, are not deleted. Scotlandville, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

edit

Friend, I spent about an hour yesterday improving Scotlandville, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Then, for reasons known only to you, you reverted my hard work. If you have concerns with the article, please start a discussion on the article's talk page, but you cannot just remove content (such an the infobox) because you don't like it. Thank you for your understanding. Magnolia677 (talk) 09:30, 16 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

You should spend an hour improving your character. Your deletions were inaccurate, and I feel like you have an agenda, either paid or racially motivated against this Black community. For example, you mentioned that the Helix Aviation Academy is not in Scotlandville, which is incorrect. The academy is located on the airport, and the BTR airport is located in Scotlandville. You also deleted the entire section on the revitalization efforts of that community, which had cited sources for each entry. People like you are the reason why some do not trust Wikipedia. Additionally, I see many people complaining about your erasure of Black and Indigenous people from history. Ghostofdarrenseals (talk) 03:01, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Scotlandville, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 19:07, 19 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

You seem bent on deleting anything that is of progressiveness with that community called Scotlandville. There are several TEDx events on WIKI that are not connected to a Black community and not one have been deleted by you. In the Book "Images of America, Scotlandville" (ISBN 978-1-4671-1314-4) it highlights the achievements and the history of that community but your edits don't match up and you tend to erase or minimize the Black contributions to this article as you have done with past articles. Please stop. Ghostofdarrenseals (talk) 12:25, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
