October 2022 edit

Hello, I'm Adakiko. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person, Fred Catero, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Adakiko (talk) 23:16, 28 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Adakiko, Thank you for your message. I am writing on the behalf of Freds Friends, a group comprised of Madeleine Catero, Freds wife, David Rubinson, legendary record producer who worked with Fred over several decades, amassing many hit records as a team, and myself, Norman Landsberg, pianist, arranger,, independent producer and frequent collaborator and close family friend of Fred and Madeleine for over 50 years. We feel the 3 of us are the most comprehensive reference panel who wish to honor our recently deceased friend and colleague. We want to assure that he receives the appropriate recognition for his many accomplishments and that the information presented is as accurate as possible. Several times I have tried to add a career timeline and discography, only to have them removed and an alert to cease disruptive editing. Needless to say, we feel that our editing is constructive, not disruptive. Clearly that are protocols in place that I/we don't understand. Any assistance you could provide us to establish a proper wiki page for our dear friend, colleague, husband, would be greatly appreciated. many thanks. This update was written by Fred's widow and best friends! Please reinstate everything. Thank you Freds Friends (talk) 03:45, 1 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, you may be blocked from editing. Drmies (talk) 02:48, 29 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Fred has died. His widow and I are attempting to update his wikipedia entry. Every time I post the updated entry, some wikipedia "editor" takes it down. The new entry is totally resourced, with links to his discogaphy, and written by his wife ! Please help me here. We need the new updated entry left up. Please restore it. Thank you, David Rubinson Freds Friends (talk) 03:39, 1 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am sorry for your loss. I must tell you that Wikipedia is not a place to post an obituary or tribute; the article must summarize what independent reliable sources say about him. We need some kind of reliable source that discusses his passing in order to update the article. We want to help, but this must also be done right despite the difficult time you and your friends/family are having. 331dot (talk) 06:29, 1 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

November 2022 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Freds Friends", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it suggests this is a group or shared account. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 06:27, 1 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Multiple people do seem to have access to this account - the editor has identified themself at different times as Norman Landsberg and David Rubinson. Another account, User:FRED TWO, has also identified themself as David Rubinson, and has started editing David Rubinson. This is a bit of a mess. 97.113.27.216 (talk) 12:49, 1 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I hope that @331dot can help sort out these two accounts. David10244 (talk) 07:57, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because your username, Freds Friends, does not comply with Wikipedia's username policy. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy, which is summarized below.
Under Wikipedia's username policy, a username should represent an individual person. It should not: represent a group or organization; be promotional; be misleading (such as indicating possession of special user rights, being a "bot" account (unless approved), or implying that the account has any administrative or "moderator" user rights, or any kind of "power" or "authority" over other users); nor be offensive or otherwise disruptive. However, a username that contains the name of an organization and also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87" is allowed, but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company". Among others, the guidance on conflict of interest and the policy on paid-contribution disclosure are relevant.
Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page here: {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If your username is not in violation of Wikipedia's username policy, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page here: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Thank you. 331dot (talk) 08:07, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Group accounts are not permitted, each account must be exclusively used by a single person. It appears that one member of your group has created their own account- which is fine- my suggestion would be to allow that individual to represent the group, though they must be the only one with access to the account. The best way for us to help you is for you to refrain from directly editing the article and instead make formal edit requests(click for instructions) on the article talk page(Talk:Fred Catero). 331dot (talk) 08:10, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Thank you for all your help. Very much appreciated. So sorry, in my ignorance I seem to have done everything wrong. As you suggested I have created a new account and username. I will be the only one to use it. It is not a group. My friend (Fred Catero) died, and am trying to update his old entry. Can I do that now ? I don't want to make any more mistakes. Many thanks, DR Lovefred (talk) 19:50, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Lovefred I'm going to communicate with your further on your new user talk page. 331dot (talk) 19:53, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
