Why Link Removed edit

I use to have a link in the external links area of MS Access http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ms_access

The link use to be http://www.enflow.com/WhyUseAccess.htm and it has been removed and i was wondering why my link was removed when it is non commercial and is a tutorial on Access.

by the way we create Access Software for Fortune 500 companies and we know the product inside and out and up and down so what gives?

Some, actually MANY of the other external links ARE commercial links but they persist yet mine was removed by you so i was wondering what was wrong with it...

For example, many of the other links have AD Sense on their link page...

so do i need to put AD Sense on my page and other sponsored links to make the link ok... (Just a Little Irony)

More racism from User:Mrfunnymike edit

Hi Fayssal. I see you left a warning on the above user's page regarding vandalism. Just letting you know that he has continued to perpetrate racist vandalism (albeit somewhat incoherently): here. Cheers. --Codeine 12:25, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello from Babajobu! edit

Hi Fayssal, I'm good, but for the past few months my work schedule has been absolutely psychotic, I'm working wild, wild hours. I still regularly use Wikipedia as a resource, and make minor punctuation and formatting edits not infrequently, but I haven't had time to do big stuff. For a while I was closing at least a few AfDs every day, but there's no time for that now. But I'm still very much a Wikipedia devotee, and I'll get back to more editing and admining as soon as time is available! Hope you're well, you're a great guy! Babajobu 21:01, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

My RFA edit

Thank you, FayssalF, for voting in my RFA. It closed with a final result of 75/1/0. Now that I am an administrator here, I will continue to improve this encyclopedia, using my new tools to revert vandalism, block persistent vandals, protect pages that have been vandalized intensively, and close AFD discussions. Any questions? Please contact me by adding a new section on my talk page. Again, thanks to all of you who participated!!! -- King of 23:29, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

VandalProof 1.2 Now Available edit

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:21, 21 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

ICANN Wikipedians needed! edit

Hello Fayssal,

We are running a wiki called ICANNwiki. As you might know ICANN is the organization that assigns the Top Level Domanins for the Internet. The ICANNwiki is documenting what is happening at the ICANN meetings.

The next ICANN meeting is the week of June 26th in in Marrakech. Would you be interested in taking notes in some of the meetings and posting them with us on ICANNwiki?

If you are please let me know at wiki@alpinepockets.com and I'll get you more information.

Thanks

Thank you edit

Greetings Szvest, It is unfortunate that you are in need of even having to offer your assistance. I have demontrably shown good faith towards Irishpunktom on numerous occassions but what is sad is that the same level of good faith that I demonstrate isn't reciprocated. Have you mediated between two users like Irishpunktom and I previously? Netscott 17:20, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for responding, I know both of those editors (and their views more or less) and that sounds like a pretty impressive accomplishment on your part.
I couldn't agree more about making Wikipedia a better place (look at my latest creation - and follow the "What links here link").
Unfortunately I find that Irishpunktom is very quick to make edits that are highly bad faith in nature and conduct himself in accord with that. (like referring to non-muslim Danes as Kaffir here. He knows that term is highly derogatory as this issue recently came up when I utilized this Islamonline.net link to demonstrate that clearly.)
I have on numerous occassions expressed high levels of good faith towards him like here and yet he doesn't express the same levels back.
Based upon your previous demonstration of ability to mediate between two users I would be willing to accept your offer to do the same in our case. Thanks! Netscott 18:49, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
It might be good to mention our talk here over on this 3RR report that Irishpunktom has filed against me. Netscott 18:53, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for you commentary on the 3RR report (although has Irishpunktom agree to mediation on your part?). Hopefully through your mediation this repetitive nonsense between he and I can come to a close and the project will benefit.
Ali Sina humanist? Seems like an odd combo... I'll take a look at the article and add it to my watch list and see how I can be of assistance on it. Thanks again. Netscott 19:24, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

ProgressSoft needs attention from an Arabic speaking editor edit

The article on ProgressSoft needs attention from an Arabic speaking editor. It just survived an AfD, but is a very small stub. The company is in Jordan and primarily releases software with a user interface in Arabic, so most discussion of them is presumably also in Arabic. I've exhausted the easy-to-find-online English language reliable sources on them. (I've seen more in non-reliable sources.) Can you post this request in an appropriate place where other arabic speaking editors will see it?

Thanks in advance. GRBerry 02:46, 30 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Islamic extremist terrorism to Islamist terrorism edit

Greetings Szvest, I noticed that you proposed this change and it got me thinking about the word "islamist" so I did some online research to determine how established that word is and I was surprised to find that a number of online dictionaries don't have that word. At first glance your move idea seems sensible but on second glance if such a title were indeed adopted then a neutral third party source for the word "islamist" would also have to be cited. Was there a particular definition of that word that you had in mind when you proposed using it? thanks. Netscott 16:19, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well your move still seems sensible but I still see a need to have the term "islamist" defined at the start of the article (if the title is indeed adopted) and make that definition without falling afoul of Wikipedia original research policies (meaning the definition's origins from a neutral established body included). Netscott 17:27, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Another thing, I noticed that User:Irishpunktom's adding {{POV}} tags to this article but is failiing to add talk to the talk page at the same time. I've removed the tags a couple of times in good faith and invited him to add to the talk page when adding the tags... but so far he's merely reverted and failed to add to the talk page. Disaster of Annual edit

Please see my question at Talk:Disaster_of_Annual, since the edit I'm asking about is yours. - Jmabel | Talk 16:03, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nothing weird Jmabel. The most accurate spelling is Beni Ouriaghel. Both names refer to the same tribe. The edit summary mentioned dab, which was what i did. Cheers -- Szvest 16:10, 4 June 2006 (UTC) Wiki me up™Reply
If it is correct, shouldn't the "Beni Ouriaghel" article mention the extremely different alternate name "Ait Waryaguil"? "Ouriaghel" and "Waryaguil" are clearly just different transliterations, but "Beni" and "Ait" are hardly similar words. - Jmabel | Talk 16:19, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Aît is a Berber name whearas Beni is an Arabic one. People from the Ouriaghel tribe are called Beni Ouriaghel. The Berbers refer to it as Beni Ouriaghel. Try google as well. For more info about the etymology you can refer to D.M. Hart: The Ayt Waryaghel of the Moroccan Rif. A History and an ethnography. Tuscon University, 1975. List of Mosques edit

Hello- I explained my edit on this article several months ago and so far, no one has had an objection to it. You seem to want to add your POV to this article with blatant disregard to policy. My reasoning for the edit is clearly written on the Talk:List of mosques article. I do not wish to discuss the matter further, but I am warning you ahead of time so that your irresponsible actions would not cause a conflict. I encourage you to use the talk page, gather support from credible sources to justify a possible edit on your part. Thank you.--Brad M. 19:09, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for explaining your position, and I really appreciate you doing so. I admit that I may have come on a little too harsh, but I got the impression that you were unjustifiably editing it to serve as POV. Anyway, water under the bridge. As for mention that "those mosques are administered by Palestinians", I think I will maintain the status quo on that. Here's why, first the Hassan Bek Mosqueis not administered by the Palestinians but by Israeli Arabs who do not live in the territories, so that does not fall on the category of Palestinian Administration. As for the remaining two, it may be that the Waqf has Palestinian elements, but last I heard, Israel is not giving up sovreignty of that area anytime soon. It's like, say, a catholic Church in the U.S when the land that church is on could not be declared part of the Vatican because catholics administer the building. So I think the status quo should remain while naming that category simply "Israel".--Brad M. 19:43, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for fixing that red link. I kept meaning to fix that, but never got around to it. I'm glad we were able to talk about this in a civilized way. Any thoughts?--Brad M. 20:00, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand why people are taking you to task for what (to me) appears to be a much-needed edit. The word "wrongfully" is completely inappropriate and would only be "controvertial" to POV-pushers eager for their view to be promoted in the article. I will be happy when you are able to safely remove the word within Wiki guidelines. Respect. Argyrios 22:51, 8 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

FayssalF, apparently an admin, should know better. You don't edit a protected article, period. Even obvious changes like removing the "wrongfully", which obviously was only left in by an oversight. Instead, you attempt unprotection. If there is consensus, the change happens anyway. It doesn't matter if the "wrongfully" remains visible for another hour or not, this is Wikipedia, which everybody knows contains a lot of nonsense and awful prose. The important thing is that you play by the rules. I have unprotected the article now, and I have no doubt that the "wrongfully" will disappear shortly. dab () 12:57, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Gibraltar edit

Hi Faysal!

Could you please have a look at the talk page and history of the article on Gibraltar. Over the past few months a number of users, including myself, have been in conflict with user:Gibnews. We feel he has taken over the page as his pet project and has imposed a NPOV pro-Gibraltarian point of view. I feel his attitude and utter refusal to acheive any form of consensus is contrary to the rules of wikipedia. He accuses everyone of Spanish propaganda even on issues which are not directly related to the Anglo-Spanish dispute over Gibraltar and reverts pretty much everything which is not written by himself. Although I am not Spanish, I sometimes wonder if I may be slightly biased towards the Spanish perspective. I do not however believe that Gibraltar should be Spanish and I try to remain as neutral as possible. I do not have a problem with Gibnew's views. I simply do not approve of his way of discarding other people's sources, opinions etc... You should perhaps consult other users for their opinions such as user:ecemaml and user:asterion.

That is why I ask you, as an uninterested party, to mediate or atleast give your perspective on this issue.

Please look at the talk page over the past few months. Conflict with user Gibnews seems to go a long way back.

Thankyou very much for your help. We would really appreciate it. There is nothing worse that when articles are hijacked by individuals with political agendas. --Burgas00 13:35, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

A short Esperanzial update edit

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09.
