Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Bally Midway.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bally Midway.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 13:23, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:Sands Hotel.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Sands Hotel.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:37, 3 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. east.718 at 17:37, 11/3/2007 17:37, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Three South Shore malls up for deletion edit

Place Portobello, Mail Carnaval and Place Desormeaux, articles that I've noticed you've contributed to, have been nominated for deletion due to lack of notability. Please give your input at each one's deletion proposal page: Place Portobello, Mail Carnaval and Place Desormeaux. One solution could be to merge/summarize the information into the respective city where the mall is located, as per WP:NNC, if the mall is not notable enough to merit its own article. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Data East's logo.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Data East's logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:04, 6 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do we need a source for the list of former locations of Simpsons? edit

Yes, we do. Skeezix1000 (talk) 17:43, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

All of the locations can be verified with reference to advertisements placed by Simpsons in the 1970s and 80s. See in particular advertisements placed in the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail. I think that they should be included since they are a part of the historical record. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.207.136.75 (talk) 22:51, 27 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't have a problem with having a list location on the Simpsons article. It's Skeezix1000 and SchuminWeb that didn't want any part of it. As if people would just add false locations on the article just for the heck of it. In fact, all locations can be verified on any old phone directory. (Farine (talk) 01:32, 28 October 2008 (UTC))Reply
Please do not mischaracterize the positions of others. No one is being unnecessarily difficult for the sake of it. WP:V and WP:OR are crystal clear. If you can come up with a list of locations that are all properly sourced, then by all means do so. Skeezix1000 (talk) 12:03, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Swim briefs edit

I hate to disagree with you because I know we have the same goals for this. But...I think that since you introduced the list of countries that like swim brfs with "in particular" that it should be specific. "Japan and China" reads better than the vague "some Asian countries". It's understood that swim brfs are popular in other places too. But I'm going to leave it to you. Best wishes. Markhh (talk) 04:45, 23 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Okay. I took another stab. I hope you will approve. Cheers! Markhh (talk) 23:52, 25 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please do not cross-post the same thread to multiple people's talk pages, as you did with the recent thread on Simpsons locations. Image copyright problem with Image:Taito Corporation (old logo).jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Taito Corporation (old logo).jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Simpsons Trademark edit

I wasn't the one who added that information to the Simpson's article, but it is true (I recall seeing something about it in the news at the time). Check the database at [1]. It kind of makes sense, given all the speculation over the future of Sears Canada, that Sears might want to secure the rights to alternate names should ties with the American parent be severed (whereas the Bay presumably has less use for the trademark). Interestingly, in 2008 Sears Canada transferred all of its trademarks to 1373639 Alberta Ltd., including the Simpsons trademark. I don't know why, but suspect it is just an internal corporate organizational matter (presumably making it easier for the chain to be sold in the future, should the need arise, without the trademarks) - I'm guessing the numbered company is a wholly-owned shell company. Sears Canada ads (see, for example, this one), now have boilerplate at the bottom stating that the trademarks formerly owned by Sears Canada are now owned by 1373639 Alberta Ltd.--Skeezix1000 (talk) 14:18, 27 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Atari logo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Atari logo.gif. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Delete the Upstate New York article? Absolutely not! edit

I understand your frustration with the POV of some paragraphs, but I disagree with your proposal to delete the whole article. Upstate New York is a region and culture distinct from downstate New York, and is eminently worthy of its own article. The geography and history of the region is little known and poorly understood, and will not be adequately treated in an article about NY State as a whole.

I agree that there are problems with the sections of the article dealing with politics and culture, but deletion of the article as a whole is not justifiable. Don Argus jr (talk) 06:13, 6 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of J B Lefebvre edit

The article J B Lefebvre has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced article for which I can find no reliable sources to verify the information. In addition, WP:ORG states that for notability criteria to be met "A company, corporation, organization, school, team, religion, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in secondary sources. Such sources must be reliable, and independent of the subject", which does not appear to be the case here.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The issue, if you're not already familiar with it, is that this individual (through a regularly changing IP) that has been vandalizing the project for quite some time now. They have a clear pattern of disruption, which features adding invalid "facts" and a passion for trying to post in articles that certain soaps have been "announced" as being cancelled in 2020. If you see such a pattern, please revert the IP's contributions on sight and report them as a vandal. --Ckatzchatspy 08:19, 21 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Farine edit

Hello Farine. I noticed you, or another editor created a Requests for Adminship page under your name, and I was wondering as to what the status of that request might be. If you are still intent on running for adminship with that request, please do let me know; otherwise, I'll go ahead and delete the RfA page for you in about a week or so from today. Eagles 24/7 (C) 00:20, 22 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

You will need to transclude your RfA at WP:RFA by following the instructions at WP:RFA/N. However, with only 23 edits to Wikipedia space pages, I'm not sure your request will succeed. I suggest you not run at this time, but of course, the decision is entirely up to you. If you still want to go through with the RfA, just transclude it at the main RfA page, but if not, I will delete it for you. Eagles 24/7 (C) 15:44, 22 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Les Ailes Express edit

Hi. I'm a little confused with the paragraph about Les Ailes Express. Was it called I&F up until early 2010 when it was changed to GLAM, and then again in 2010 changed to Les Ailes Express? As the article currently stands, this is how it reads. Why would they go through rebranding twice in one year? I know it's Fairweather so anything retarded like this is possible, but I think it needs clarifying either way. Also a source would help, thanks. Imperatore (talk) 18:02, 25 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I agree the dates should be removed, unless sourcing like newspaper articles can establish firm dates (doubtful, don't think anyone cares).
FYI, this Fairweather Group, or 'The I.N.C. Group' or whatever, really is a mess. I noticed a while ago on their website they plagiarize Macy's department stores' in-house brand logo of similar name, 'INC International Concepts', by doing a simple MSPaint-like job so that the logo can look like it's 'I.N.C. Group', as evidenced on one of their random brand websites (upper right corner) http://www.stockhomme.com/. What's ironic is that media outlets have reported Fairweathers' intention to sue Target Corp. for copyright infringement over their entry into Canada should Target choose to use the name 'Target' in selling their clothing, since Fairweather has a similar named store banner called Target Apperel in Western Canada/Ontario; Someone needs to tell Target Corp. / Macy's that it's Fairweather themselves who are the copyright infringing culprits by cloning one of Macy's' brand logos! Coupled with the fact that I've heard they've had lots of problems with store shut downs in Toronto when they tried to launch all these random brands as standalone store banners, it doesn't surprise me to hear about an i&f/glam/express crazy rebranding scenario play out in like 1 year's time. Target Canada edit

Unfortunately, I didn't create the article Target Canada, it was User:Stickguy who created the article. but I only made a lot of edits for Target Canada article. I think you should talk to User:Stickguy who created the article, not me. I only made a lot of edits. Steam5 (talk) 23:42, 4 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi there! Thanks for the detailed discussion of your views on the article. My interpretation of "confirmed" came from the fact that some, but not all, of the landlords have specific agreements in place with Target that their locations will definitely be converted to Target stores and not resold – see, for example, the discussion of the RioCan and Primaris properties here. In light of that fact I had chosen to take the word of those landlords who had made announcements to the effect that their locations would be converted as indicating similar assurances, although I concede that (a) some landlords might not be 100% forthcoming about the presence or absence of such assurances for their locations, and (b) Target could theoretically change its mind on some of those by paying an appropriate penalty.
In regards to WP:NOTDIRECTORY, I did not intend to have the list there once Target Canada opens its doors and has its own list of its operating stores, much as WP does not normally include lists of stores for most other operating chains. But I had felt that compiling the specific definitively-confirmed locations – which to my knowledge Target itself hasn't released publicly, and wasn't otherwise available – might serve to override those concerns. That said I concede there isn't any particular exemption for directories not available anywhere else, and in any event, collapsing the two sections would basically make it identical to a list that Target has publicly released.
For now I will (shortly) reduce the "Proposed Locations" section to a short discussion of the fact that 105 Zellers locations have been selected (plus one new build site), and that not all of the Zellerses will be necessarily converted to Targets, but that some landlords claim to have assurances that their locations will be converted, all with appropriate references. Hopefully this will provide sufficient information to the reader to figure out which locations may or could be converted. Cheers! — stickguy (:^›)— || talk || 03:21, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Inquiry about Soap Sourcing edit

I have a question, would you consider that Soap Opera Digest over-rides a soap opera's closing credits on TV? Because there's a bit of debate about someone being on contract vs. recurring. I believe she's recurring, which is what SOD says, but the soap says contract. I would like a third/fourth opinion in this. The chat is on Daniel Case. Your nomination for deletion of – 2012–13 United States network television schedule edit

Just a note, you did not transclude this article in the Articles for deletion log page when you nominated it for deletion, as required in step 3 of the subsection "How to nominate a single page for deletion” on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion page. Another user has performed this step for you to complete the process. In the future, please follow all of the required steps when nominating an article for deletion. Thank you. OLTL Article edit

Hey Farine,

I apologize for the misunderstading but I don't understand what it is that I did wrong. I'll locate the article for the Revolution starting on January 16 and properly place that citation on the 2012 Amercian television page. I meant to earlier but I got sidetracked. Sorry for the mishap. Take care. TVFAN24 (talk) 00:23, 29 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your request for rollback edit

Hi Farine. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Salvio Let's talk about it! 01:30, 26 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
