it:Lynne & Tessa edit

Hi. Have you any idea what happened to the page? Was it deleted, or just never existed? Thanks. Xiner (talk, email) 16:00, 4 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's unfortunate. They should've kept the article and let us translate it first...I don't know Italian, but that kind of voting would be less likely to happen on en:. Thanks for the investigation! Xiner (talk, email) 16:32, 4 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

You were right Dark Edge is a manga and not manwha. I don't remember why I thought it was the other way. (Duane543 17:08, 1 March 2007 (UTC))Reply

Whoops edit

Hi - completely forgot about your request a few days ago, sorry. Let me take a look at that article for a second:...okay, apparently they put a 2 year ban on giving these purple garments and titles to the priests in order to try to break the relationship between the emperor and religious circles, but during the ban he gave purple garments to over ten people and that's what caused the problem. Apparently the emperor had never had to consult them before so he just carried on as he had done before. Maybe he didn't think that they were going to try to do anything to enforce the 2-year ban. They made the bestowing of the garments invalid, and that got the other side all riled up because they thought it was an over and done matter, and sent strong letters of protest to the government. Then the government exiled them in 1629 to Dewa and Mutsu. It doesn't say what happened to the emperor. I haven't looked at Japanese history forever so I'm not sure what the background is but that's what that page says. Mithridates 17:14, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Australian Italian edit

It matters, O, it matters! Attilios is on my back all the time about getting the accents wrong, or leaving them off. Last time I was in Florence, my child (then 10) tried valiantly to order at ristoranti in Italiano and was met with waiters who looked down their aquiline noses and said into the cell-phones that were permanent fixtures, "O My God! this stupid English woman has a child with a Calabrian accent!" Which he did, having been called "Bambino bello!" by our neighbour since the day of his birth.

Because of the Australian tendency to stretch diphthongs (or create diphthongs out of short vowel sounds, yee-ess and nah-oh being prime examples) and the Calabrian and Sicilian tendency to emphasise them, Ocker Italian as spoken by the younger generation when they go home to meet the grandparents is quite distintinctive, and I suspect entertaining to native speakers. (Most Italian migrants to Australia in the 50s, 60s, 70s were from the South). Might have something to do with why my Ser becomes Sair. --Amandajm 01:17, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ha ha! Australia is full of people with accents.

Real Ocker goes like this:-

"Cheese, Bev, snow ewes sboth kerry in the choppy gnome. I'll gome getta car! Sboth gome inner car!"
"Cheese, Shurl, yor reel nighster me! Ai wuzz gunna getta tack seeyome!"
To get the pronunciation absolutely correct you have to smile the whole time you are saying it.

OK I'll put the translation here for you ()

Back to wott-ever oi wuzz doin

Never Give Up edit

A tag has been placed on Never Give Up, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Android Mouse Bot 2 07:28, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Article Scipionyx: Appropriate affiliation of Marco Signore edit

Hi, Exairetos. The article Scipionyx formerly read "Marco Signore of the Universita degli Studi di Napoli in Naples,[1] who identified it as the first Italian dinosaur." On 18 July 2007, you changed this to "Marco Signore of the University of Naples Federico II". Online sources on Scipionyx that I'm seeing seem to identify Signore with the Universita degli Studi di Napoli. May I ask your source for the change? Thanks -- Writtenonsand 17:35, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Deus Vitae edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Deus Vitae, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Unnotable manga series. No significant coverage in reliable, third-party sources. Tagged since April.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 02:49, 27 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Translation of 95 year old philosophy. edit

Greetings,

I am trying to get a team together who would finally translate "Sistema di logica come teoria del conoscere" into English. I thought Wikipedia's list of Italian-to-English translators might be a good group to 'hit up' on this subject. If personal assistance cannot be provided, perhaps suggestions or helping point me in the right direction of who might be willing to help? Best regards & thank you. Nagelfar (talk) 05:06, 27 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

(reply to your response on my talk page) True about his associations hindering him, but look at the recent boom in popularity of Heidegger and the translations of Being & Time in nigh every bookstore. I thank you for getting back to me. I have contacted Living Time Press and the head of the Gentile Foundation in Italy (whom I have yet to hear back from) as well as author A. James Gregor, and I have his support. As for which to start on, I laud you for being so eager, but I haven't an idea on how we should start for I don't have a team together. I was hoping to get something like a 'council of translators' to decide what direction to go for consistency in translation etc. If you look through it, and there is some subsection which piques your interest to begin to translate, initiative is the greater part of virtue. I've contacted about 70 people, that's less than 10 pages a person if everyone was willing (which they are not), but consistency with translation is then a concern. The English translation of 'A Theory Of Mind as Pure Act' is a good reference point on what terms to use in translating that Mr. Carr has set the precedent for. Yes, definitely keep in touch. There isn't any place to upload or anything like that, perhaps the most eager translator can synchronize it all on their end. Look over it a bit is all I am asking for now, and a bigger group hopefull with come forward. Nagelfar (talk) 04:55, 31 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Fun Fun Factory edit

The article Fun Fun Factory has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Doesn't appear to be a notable shojo manga. No sources located, and none on ja.wiki to borrow.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ♠PMC(talk) 19:28, 13 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
