Are you following me? If I'm making more mistakes than I'm fixing please let me know. ( SailingOn (talk) 23:06, 2 November 2017 (UTC) )Reply

Hello SailingOn, No I'm not following you but rather am doing minor edits from articles suggested by Wiki community portal as a way to gain experience with at least 10 edits (I'm a new user). If I edited more than one item that you've written, it was coincidental. My apologies if I've created any concern. The edits were minor grammar to improve clarity, nothing fact based. Hope this helps. P.S. I'm not even sure if I'm replying to your question in the correct Talk place, so hope you see this soon.ElephantEar (talk) 23:46, 2 November 2017 (UTC)ElephantEarReply

No worries! I just saw you edited one from there but also the Potchefstroom article and was curious. There's mixed ways of replying on talk pages, you can do it on mine or yours. But if you do it on yours be sure to take the user like this: @ElephantEar so they are notified. Additionally you should use the colon to make the box of text indented so the thread is more readable. There's a big page about it called Help:Talk_pages. ( SailingOn (talk) 00:01, 3 November 2017 (UTC) )Reply
Thank you for the tips! I am trying to proceed carefully and will use more tutorials. Its a little overwhelming. @SailingOn
I've just started too, I am really just going off of what other people have told me and matching what other people have done! There's actually a live chat which has been really helpful. Help me! Create a biography page edit

Please help me with... 1. creating a biography on a notable person. In particular, I thought I'd previously found a biography template so I don't have to start from scratch but now can't seem to find that nor instructions on how to insert a biography template into a draft page.

2. Is it better to write the page content offline (i.e., in MS Word) and then paste it into Wikipedia and add the formatting or should I create the draft page on my account talk page? I've been advised it may not be best to create the draft page in my sandbox because if Wiki cleans out sandboxes periodically, my work will be lost. I'm not sure if this is a true statement.

Thanks for any advice!

ElephantEar (talk) 18:14, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I see you wants to create biography, so first of all I advise you to look at this link, where you will find Wikipedia policies, manual of style for biography and you don't need any template for writing biographies. I think you want that info box which appears on right side of articles, you can find that at this link, you can copy this template content and add relevant details about person in it. Now as you asked that, "can I create article content offline?" So I will advise you to make it online, because you need Wikipedia editing tools for better and helpful writing of article, which you will not find in any offline tool. So just follow this link and read all instructions at each page carefully. Once you create a draft, write down the content and after that add a relevant reference in-line, to know that what I means by in-line please open this link. If you need any help after this you can join our live chat help or reply here at your talk page, and ping me also. Thanks. @1997kB 18:52, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
You can also use the Biography template to help create a quick "scaffold" that includes all the usual parts of a biography. Type {{subst:Biography}} (including the braces) into a blank page and save it. You'll then be able to edit it as you need to create the content you want. You can find more information here:Template:Biography. Hope this helps. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 18:59, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Many thanks to @1997kB and @Eggishorn for your assistance. I will try to be brave and move forward with your suggestions. I did find the biography template now and added it to my talk page to see how it looks. Thank you for the quick responses. ElephantEar (talk) 19:27, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Megan Devine edit

Thanks for creating Megan Devine.

A New Page Patroller Rosguill just tagged the page as having some issues to fix, and wrote this note for you:

A lot of the citations given are to sources that seem not-quite reliable, such as Sounds True, Youtube, and Laughing Squid (for more information, see WP:RS. While the article also includes references to the NYTimes and other reliable sources, it's unclear whether the coverage there is sufficiently in-depth to satisfy Wikipedia's general notability guideline. Consider removing some of the less reliable sources and replacing them with higher quality ones–generally speaking, an article with 3 good citations is better than an article with 3 good citations and 10 bad ones.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can reply over here and ping me. Or, for broader editing help, you can talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.
