Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Rachie has been reverted.
Your edit here to Rachie was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LavcucjhaE) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Caradog Roberts as Young Man.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 14:37, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Picture of Rachel Jenkins.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Picture of Rachel Jenkins.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 13:21, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sound files

edit

Great to see (hear) the sound files you are adding. Are they as the tunes were written rather than arrangements?SovalValtos (talk) 22:02, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Eds009 (talk) 22:20, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Answer: As the tunes were written - except that different hymn books have different harmonies - and use different keys. ‘Llef’, for example, is sung in Wales both in E minor and D minor. Of the eight tunes I have added, all except ‘Crimond' are published in different keys. The melody is always exactly the same as was originally written, but harmonies depend on which hymn book I use to play the tune. Also, some organ stops (e.g. mixtures) add on extra ‘sounds' in a chord, and for some ‘lines' I may not play the organ pedals to reflect a quieter line of music. Hope that helps. Eds009 (talk) 22:20, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the explanation. I think different harmonies as in different hymn books are what I mean in my non technical way as different arrangements. My feeling is that simplicity is the key here to illustrating a tune. Just a simple line without harmonies unless the tune was composed with harmonies originally. So no extra harmonies added later such as by a hymn book editor. Best wishes.SovalValtos (talk) 22:35, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Eds009 (talk) 23:15, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Thanks. All the tunes I have posted were originally written by the composer with harmonies, and hymn books always add harmonies to the melody. Hymn tunes can be rather boring without 'moving' harmonies e.g. repeat the same note three or four times. I used a hymn book to play each tune - I cannot play 'by ear' or make an arrangement. So the tunes are very authentic and are as close as possible to the composer's original. Where hymn book editors have made changes, it is typically to the key, e.g. making it higher or lower to help congregations sing the tune (this is frequent), or to correct a musical error, e.g. not using consecutive fifths or repeating thirds. Best wishes. ColinEds009 (talk) 23:15, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
