edit

As I explained in c:User talk:Marchjuly#Regarding the Vanguard America logo deletion, I nominated the file for deletion, but I did not delete the file and it is still on Commons as File:Vanguard America Logo.png. If you wish to challenge the speedy deletion nomination, read my reply on Commons and follow the instructions on the template I added to the file. FWIW, my interest in the file simply has to do with it's copyright status and nothing to do with what the logo might represent or the politics of any of those associated with it. Commons has strict requirements when it comes to file licensing and copyright ownership verification is often required in cases when there is a significant doubt about copyright ownership.

Just for reference, the file was removed (not deleted) from the article Vanguard America by K.e.coffman with this edit. If you disagree with the removal, you should state your reasons on the article's talk page and see if there's a consensus to re-add it. The copyright status of a particular file does, of course, impact how the file may be used on Wikipedia, but in some cases it may also be necessary (just like in the case of textual content) to establish a consensus for adding a particular image to an article even if copyright status is not an issue. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:29, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Removing MfD templates edit

  Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Miscellany for deletion notices from pages, or remove other people's comments in Miscellany for deletion debates, as you did with User:EchoUSA. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of a page, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:32, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Previous account edit

Hi, I'm Tony. I have a quick question about your userpage: you claim to have an alternative account User:Echo, and say you have about 200 edits since 2016. There is no User:Echo, and the only edits I see on this account date to October 2017. Would you mind identifying your previous account. You of course, don't have to if it is a legitimate clean start, but since you appear to be trying to link to a previous account, it would be helpful for us to know which one it is. Additionally, was the previous account under any form of community sanctions such as a block or topic ban? Sorry to bother you with all these questions, but I assume you are aware that the beliefs you express on your user page are going to raise questions for many here, and that when you combine that with claiming that you have had a previous account that doesn't exist, people are going to be curious. If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  —SpacemanSpiff 08:45, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, EchoUSA. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. You need to know that an encyclopedia does not use information from individuals about subjects with which they have a connection. We rely on verifiable information from WP:reliable sources unconnected with the subject. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 08:46, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
