Speedy deletion nomination of Sale of souls

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sale of souls, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. ArglebargleIV (talk) 17:22, 2 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia is not a place for you to write about your book

edit

Sorry, but see WP:Notability (books) for the notability requirement for a book to have a Wikipedia article, and Wikipedia is not about YOU and WP:Conflict of interest for the reasons why, in any case, you should not be the one to write about it. JohnCD (talk) 17:59, 2 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but it appears you have written or added to an article about yourself, at Vidyadhar Durgekar. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Hi, thanks for message. You can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~. If you post an article it will be assessed as it stands. If you don't want that to happen, you should write it as a draft. I deleted your article because

  • it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. It is now Wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references, as defined in the link, or they will be deleted. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to you or an affiliated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what you claim or interviewing you. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls; your text had no in-line references at all. You had a section called "Refereces" [sic], but it only had links to your own writing, not independent third-party sources.
  • There is nothing in your text to show how you meet the notability criteria I've linked above, writing books doesn't in itself make you
  • it was written in a promotional tone, mainly to promote your books. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced or self-sourced claims presented as fact include: has been perfectly discussed in the book... A humorous narrative with the funny Cricket games ending in a highly sensitive subject of religion and its conflicts. The sensitive subject was deftly handled, with sports humor to convey the message of belief and superstitious faith... a simple romantic novel... after the encouragement received online— basically very positive self-reviews of your own books
  • there shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections. Wikipedia pages should be linked like this Indian Navy.
  • the article was created in a single edit without wikilinks or references, and looks as if was copied from an unknown and possibly copyrighted source. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial, and text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • You have an obvious conflict of interest when writing about yourself. If, after reading the information about notability linked above, you still believe that you are notable enough for a Wikipedia article (and that there is significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources), you could, if you wish, post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created. See also guidance for editors with conflicts of interest and writing about yourself. Note that if you persist in writing articles promoting yourself or your books, you may be blocked.

Before attempting to write any article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article.
