Cloisters Edits

User:Doniago Hi, can you explain why you reverted my edits? There is not any information on the page about the library and archives, and these I would argue, are notable aspects of the institution- I provided citations and links, and the library/archives are a large institution, with published materials written about them. Also, I am very familiar with GLAM-Wiki policies, and my intention with adding that section was to expand coverage of the library/archives digitized materials as to aid researchers that wanted to dig deeper from the main Cloisters page. OR drohowa (talk) 19:32, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

The most direct reason is that external links should not be placed in the body of an article per WP:ELPOINTS. Hence I removed that bit, and for clarity moved the exisiting citation to the end of hte text it was supporting. If a third-party source has discussed the library/archives then it may be appropriate for use as a reference, or you may be able to refactor the external link for use as a reference. Alternately you could place it in an External Links section. DonIago (talk) 20:03, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Salem's Lot Edits

Hello Doniago, regarding the edits I made to Salem's Lot which you undid, the changes were necessary and proper. 1: The plot of the movie varies depending on which version you're seeing, which was one of the first amendments I made and which is not currently cited. 2: There is an incorrect reference to Father Callahan 'sacrificing himself' in the existing text. 3: There are references to vampires 'killing' their victims, which is an incorrect description. 4: The additional info I attempted to include would have helped to explain the plot without making the section inordinately lengthy, considering it is a three-hour production (depending on which version is being referred to). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.137.245.207 (talk) 19:59, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Film guidelines specify a word count of 400-700 in most cases (WP:FILMPLOT). That includes films exceeding three hours in length. I'm open to seeing the plot reworked to accommodate different material, but if you genuinely feel that the plot needs to be significantly over 700 words then I would request that you make your case and develop a consensus at the article's talk page. Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.

The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. I merged list of episodes to a cancelled one-season show

I merged a list of episodes of a one season TV show titled Chase. It was listed to discuss to merged the List of Chase episodes to that show since it was cancelled for one season awhile ago. It started in June 2013. I think List of Chase episodes should probably be deleted since I just merged those episodes on the article of that show. BattleshipMan (talk) 03:31, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

I'm not really sure what you're looking for from me with regards to this. DonIago (talk) 03:53, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
I just don't know anyone who deletes articles and List of Chase episodes is pretty much done for since I merged those episodes from it's first and only season. BattleshipMan (talk) 08:33, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Ah. I think you need an admin to do that. Wikipedia:Merging covers how to best handle actual merging of articles. If that doesn't handle the deletion of the merged article, there's always WP:AFD. DonIago (talk) 13:21, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

I might need a meditator

I might need a mediator on Talk:Ransom (1996 film) on the edit war dispute between me and TheOldJacobite on Ransom (1996 film). BattleshipMan (talk) 21:29, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

I'll take a look and chime in if I feel I have anything to contribute, but if it's just between the two of you so far you might leave a message at WT:FILM, or possibly WP:3O. DonIago (talk) 22:31, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

Removed change to "Andre Agassi"

I recently added a section to this page regarding his well-known rivalry with Pete Sampras, please could you replace this so that I can source it properly? It took me a long time to write and the fact that it has just been deleted completely is slightly annoying. I made a simple mistake by not citing any source, surely you could have added at least one source rather than just deleting the entire section? The fact that the two partook in a competitive rivalry is a well known FACT, and is one that deserves to make an appearance on Agassi's page as well as Sampras's. thetradge (talk) 9 October 2013, 19:04 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.150.28.0 (talk)

If you view the page history for the article, you can view or undo my removal of your material that way. I'd recommend undoing and adding sources immediately so that it doesn't look like you're just readding a block of unsourced text. Please let me know if you have additional questions. Doom edits

Hello. I was wondering if you could fix the plot of the movie because the plot never explicitly describes what "imps" are and serial commas are needed for clarity. Thanks for understanding my position. Jay (talk) 16:01, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Honestly I'd much rather see the Plot shortened to conform to WP:FILMPLOT before worrying about such things. Perhaps it's not even necessary to use the term Imps; does it come up in the film itself or are we applying OR here? DonIago (talk) 16:12, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Don't give up

I urge you to stay at the Titanic article during this time of active editing.--Tenebrae (talk) 14:55, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

I'll keep monitoring it and I'll make sure the tag stays on the article, if appropriate, until the Talk page discussion is concluded, but besides the fact that it got quite frustrating making my edits only to see them undone, I started to feel I was at risk of coming across as an edit-warrior. The editors who want their own choice of details included should take responsibility for omitting other details to preserve the word count unless they can make a compelling argument for why we can't possibly keep the word count in compliance with guidelines...and I don't believe they can since I had it 20 words under the maximum.
That said, thank you for the support. I apologize if my frustration is getting in the way of my being as appreciative as I might be otherwise. DonIago (talk) 15:18, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Prydain

Did you bother to look at our article on Prydain? It is not a fantasy term. Dimadick (talk) 16:23, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

No. I looked at The Chronicles of Prydain, which seems more relevant. Especially pertinent- "...the author's note also reveals the geography is ultimately derived from Wales, though Alexander notes that Prydain is separate from Wales both in physical geography and history." In short, it seems the Prydain of the Chronicles, if it's Wales at all, is a Wales set in an alternate reality rather than the one we're all used to. In any event, categories need to be supported by information that appears in the article itself, not in other articles. DonIago (talk) 16:29, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
