Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation edit

Hello DojoIrl,

It seems to me that an article you worked on, Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation, may be copied from http://www.garda.ie/Controller.aspx?Page=29. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.

It's important that you edit the article and rewrite it in your own words, unless you're absolutely certain nothing in it is copied. If you're not sure how to fix the problem or have any questions, there are people at the help desk who are happy to assist you.

Thank you for helping build a free encyclopedia! MadmanBot (talk) 01:40, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

CE after dates edit

You just removed lots of "CE" following years in, of all things, an article on 7-Eleven. Thanks for doing so. The person who added those was a vandal. But please be aware that "CE" does not stand for "Christian Era". It stands for "Common Era" and was devised as an antidote to the Christian "AD" "Anno Domini". Its twin is "BCE" or "Before Common Era", to be used in lieu of "BC" "Before Christ". See the WP article. Seligne (talk) 16:36, 23 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

June 2016 edit

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Irish Army may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "<>"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 22:26, 5 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Edit summary edit

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Iñaki LL (talk) 19:29, 2 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Templates edit

Hi. Is there a particular reason for moving content to templates? Unless content is used across multiple pages, and perhaps there is a risk of WP:CFORK issues, there is no specific value added, and if anything it makes it more difficult for a typical editor to affect a change. Can you help me understand the rationale for (for example), moving the "Weapons of the Irish Naval Service" to a template for example? Are you planning to use that template and content on another page/article? If not, why move it to a template? Guliolopez (talk) 23:54, 4 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for the message. Yeah, I plan to incorporate the templates in other articles. It should be noted that a template, "Active Aircraft of the Irish Air Force" was already in use that can only be edited from a template page and wasn't being used outside the "Air Corps" article. I've already incorporated that into "List of Irish state vessels" article. I'll do the same with new templates I've also created. DojoIrl (talk) 08:13, 5 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi.
  • RE: Template:Active Irish Air Corps Aircraft. In honesty I'm not following your comment here. This template is used in three separate articles, and hence likely makes sense to be a template (to avoid content duplication and forking). I don't know what you mean when you say that you have 'incorporated that into "List of Irish state vessels"' article. (That is surely a list of watercraft?)
  • RE: "I plan to incorporate the templates in other articles". I notice that this didn't happen in a few cases. And that you have restored the original content as a result. Thanks for that. It might be worth considering tagging any remaining unused template under WP:G7. To avoid any confusion for other editors or resulting CFORK issues.
  • RE: This edit. Can you help me understand the rationale for the edit to the categorisation of this template? As the category syntax is in a noinclude block, members of this template are not automatically added to the same category. I'm otherwise unclear therefore on why you removed it(?) If you can help me understand the intent in much of the recategorisation that you seem to be undertaking, perhaps I can help.
Cheers. Guliolopez (talk) 01:40, 22 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Celtic Explorer, Marine Institute Ireland.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Celtic Explorer, Marine Institute Ireland.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 19 May 2005, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. File:Celtic Voyager-Marine Institute Ireland.jpg has also been tagged under this criterion. The issue is that [2] imposes too many restrictions on how their content can be used. Because of the requirements to reproduce accurately, not use the content for illegal/immoral purposes, or use it for promotion, the license is non-free, and can't be used on Wikipedia. The other two images you uploaded are absolutely fine, and will be moved to Wikimedia Commons, the Wikimedia Foundation's free-content repository. Happy editing! --AntiCompositeNumber (Leave a message) 03:53, 15 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
