October 2015

edit

Your recent editing history at Russian Navy shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. - BilCat (talk) 13:21, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sir BilCat, I am pretty new to Wikipedia so I humbly admit that I have committed a mistake. I am sorry, I am ready to use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. - Deepanshu (talk)

I couldn't find the relevant discussion, but another editor found the previous archived discussion here. If you disagree with this established consensus, please open a new discussion at WT:SHIPS, and make your case there. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 16:46, 7 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Murray River

edit

Hi Deepanshu1707, I've reverted your edits to this article because the Murray River does not flow towards the southeast, and because "south eastern Australia" is not the same as the State of South Australia. Cheers, Bahudhara (talk) 05:37, 23 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I was going to butt in to the discussion because Murray River is on my watchlist too. Reasons the proposed edit is wrong to me are:
  1. The Murray Mouth is near the extreme west of its extent
  2. Most of the Murray's length is in New South Wales, not South Australia
  3. If you look at the map on the page, the dominant direction of flow is actually northwest (say Wodonga to Renmark as the named points on the first map on the page), but it would be meaningless to claim the river flows northwest to empty on the south coast of Australia.
--Scott Davis Talk 09:48, 23 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
The sentence following the one that has been changing today is "The Murray rises in the Australian Alps, draining the western side of Australia's highest mountains, and then meanders across Australia's inland plains, forming the border between the states of New South Wales and Victoria as it flows to the northwest. It then turns south for its final 500 kilometres (310 mi) into South Australia, reaching the ocean at Lake Alexandrina." I find this a fairly precise description and expect that most readers with more than a passing understanding of Australian geography will find the border between NSW and Vic as quite descriptive. I'd consider adding a link to Murray Mouth, and perhaps mention Morgan as the town near the northwest bend where the Murray turns south, well inside SA. I don't really think it's as far as 500km from there to the mouth, either, but the river winds a lot more than the roads. --Scott Davis Talk 12:13, 23 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
I've read a bit more of the lead section, and tweaked a few words and numbers. I think it describes the actual location a little more precisely, do you? --Scott Davis Talk 12:49, 23 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. I'm not sure why you accepted this pending change; it changed the spelling of a name that was confirmed in the accompanying reliable source. Please don't accept pending changes to BLPs that are unsourced, poorly sourced or contradict the current sourcing, it's the entire purpose of setting pending changes in the first place.--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 21:31, 13 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jezebel's Ponyobons mots , I went to the first reference link and then verified the name as correct. It was only after suitable verification that i accepted the revision. Though I didn't dig into the reliability of source. Anyway Thanks for your valuable suggestion. I'LL Mark your words for future. Deepanshu (talk) 04:41, 14 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Reliable sources

edit

Deepanshu1707, while I appreciate you attempting to add sources to Smita Bansal, the links you added are very far from the reliable sources that are to be used for our biography articles. Online celebrity fact-sheet type websites are often riddled with errors and contradictions; in order to be used to verify personal information the source must have a reputation for stringent fact-checking and accuracy. Please ensure you review and understand what constitutes a reliable source if you will be editing or vetting material in BLPs. --Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 17:13, 14 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

I will take care of your suggestions for the future. Thanks Deepanshu (talk) 04:09, 15 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016

edit

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)

Deletion discussion about Difference between Delhi and New Delhi

edit

Hello, Deepanshu1707,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Difference between Delhi and New Delhi should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Difference between Delhi and New Delhi .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Rollback granted

edit

Hi Deepanshu1707. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Malinaccier (talk) 17:35, 30 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello Deepanshu1707,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Pacific Mall (Delhi) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
