Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Crash Bandicoot into Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:54, 2 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello DatAlphaLion, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:05, 21 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source/license for File:Luigi'sMansion3DS.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Luigi'sMansion3DS.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 17:45, 14 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. Proposed deletion of File:Luigi'sMansion3DS.png

edit

The file File:Luigi'sMansion3DS.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Similar to the infobox image (File:Lmbox.jpg). Fails WP:NFCC#3a (minimal number of items) and/or WP:NFCC#8 (contextual significance). Also, usage implicitly discouraged by WP:VGBOX.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Constant unnecessary tinkering

edit

I'm trying to work with you, and you seem to have good intentions, but maybe you should consider spending a little less time tweaking the wording of WP:GA articles? Obviously GA doesn't mean perfect, but at the same time, you're making a lot of changes to articles that have already been meticulously rewritten and reviewed, and your changes are at best, unnecessary, and at worst, making the articles worse. I'm just referring to a lot of the Zelda and Fire Emblem articles that I see you edit across my watchlist. I don't mean to be mean, I just hate seeing someone waste their time on edits that largely aren't sticking. Those articles just don't need to sort of changes you're making to them. Sergecross73 msg me 20:29, 29 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

I apologize for annoying you with my edits, but as you said, I had good intentions. I was standardizing the formats of the Fire Emblem articles as best I could especially at the beginning, so that readers will not be confused. Also apologize for cutting this reply short, as I am currently on hold from another user from her extreme and unnecessary edits to the Mario & Luigi articles. DatAlphaLion (talk) 23:56, 29 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Talking about Alexandra IDV, currently doing a curation of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and added alt text to the images. Panini🥪 03:08, 30 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes, your intentions are good, but a lot of your edits are not, which is why I'm asking you to stop some of them, because your unhelpful edits appear to becoming more and more prolific, and it's cause troubles. Things don't require absolute standardization or parity between one another. You should also listen to what Alexandra has to say, she is a very good, knowledgeable editor. She knows what she's talking about. Sergecross73 msg me 18:42, 30 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
I am again asking you to stop making these unnecessary edits. There are so many articles in terrible shape out there. Please stop wasting your time tinkering with GAs that are already in good shape. Sergecross73 msg me 03:12, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

None of the articles you reverted were marked as GAs. You can get in serious trouble for reverting my edits at an alarmingly fast rate. I am kindly asking you to understand and at least look at my edits more holistically before deleting them. It does no one any good to delete such meticulous improvements without proper due. DatAlphaLion (talk) 04:31, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Okay, for starters, every single Fire Emblem article is a GA. And Fire Emblem articles were the last three places I reverted you on. So what are you even talking about? Do you even understand how to identify how to identify a GA to begin with? Sergecross73 msg me 12:09, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

A good article is marked with the Template:Good article is only for Wikipedia:Good articles. tag. None of the ones you reverted have it. Or if they do, they are nowhere near clear enough. DatAlphaLion (talk) 12:21, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes, and every Fire Emblem article is tagged as a GA. Did you not click on the link I gave above? It's clear as day. Look at the Fire Emblem Fates talk page. It's clearly marked as GA. The GA review is still there on the talk page. You can read the whole review process clear as day. How are you not seeing this? Click on this text to read objective, undeniable proof of its extensive GA review. It's like this on every single Fire Emblem article because it's marked as a WP:GOODTOPIC. Sergecross73 msg me 13:56, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please use the preview option

edit

I've seen you make a lot of changes, only to change it right back. Rather than making these unnecessary changes, please use the edit preview function, which lets you see a preview of your changes before you actually make them. There's many reasons to do this, and it's very easy to do, please start doing this. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 15:44, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

On a related note, you've made quite a few edits today where you introduced an error in one edit, and then fixed it in the next. I know mistakes happen, but you've done the same thing over and over again, here, here, and here. To happen so many times in a row would make it seem like you're doing this on purpose. Why are you doing this? Sergecross73 msg me 16:32, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello.

You've recently made an edit to the WarioWare Gold article adding a Development section. Unfortunately, the added text is in violation of WP:PLAG due to a lack of attribution to the original source/creator in accordance with the compatible copyright and is, as a result, effectively a copyright violation. Visit WP:PLAG to familiarize yourself with what constitutes plagiarism and WP:FREECOPYING to learn how to provide suitable attribution.

Please resolve the matter soon so that the content meets guideline requirements.

Thank you. Fact Scanner (talk) 12:30, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for attempting to rectify the issue in a timely manner. The relevant templates for attribution in this particular case were either CCBYSASource or Free-content attribution. I've made the adjustments on that front myself.
While the attribution is now in the article, the section itself still does not contain sources, so the Unreferenced template still applies. As seen on the WP:COPYOPEN guide, addition of the references used in the original text as citations in the article being edited is recommended and, in this case, necessary for native verifiability of each claim in the text. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ... discospinster talk 17:28, 24 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, you seem to have been editing Wikipedia for a while now, so I'm confused to see that you keep adding content to Wikipedia without adding a source. I just recently noticed you add unsourced content to Code Name: S.T.E.A.M., but I also found that you created an entirely unsourced article for an Advance Wars article last month too.

This is unacceptable. You need to add sources any time you add or change info on Wikipedia. Failure to do this may get your account temporarily blocked from editing, so please change this. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 02:37, 13 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I've seen you do this twice more since this warning. Final warning - if you add any more content to Wikipedia without a source, your account will receive a temporary block. Add sources any time you add or change content. Sergecross73 msg me 14:38, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I keep on having to clean up your over-linking issues as well. Is there something you're not understanding about WP:OVERLINK? Please, link the first mention only in the body prose. (The WP:LEAD and WP:INFOBOX don't count, but you shouldn't link twice within the infobox either.) Sergecross73 msg me 20:30, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
