I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make goofy mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. The Community Portal can also be very useful.

Roman numerals

edit

Hi, Cybertooth. Spurred on by your question over Roman numeral usage, I revisited my thoughts and the past discussion. It turns out it wasn't as definitive as I had remembered, although they bring up a lot of important points. To try and see if we could get some community consensus, I just posed the question again to Wikiproject Comics. I'd love for you to share your opinion there so we can see if we can all come to some kind of agreement. --Rocketgoat 01:31, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yikes

Sorry about that with the Secret Society of Super Villains page. I just got through with an overhaul on it. Most of it was copy-pasted from DC Cosmic Teams, so I rewrote a good deal of it. If you want to just check it up, I've also created List of Secret Society of Super Villains members page. Thanks for your help.--DoctorWorm7 04:55, 27 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pictures

edit

Okay, as far as uploading the pictures go, there's a link over in the toolbox to your left, "Upload File." Just find the picture, upload it to Wikipedia (with a nice file name, so we know what it is), and tag it up. I, and others, would appreciate it if there's some description in the comments, as to which issue it's from, what we're seeing, and the like. The Comics Project has two copyright tags. One is for single panels and pages, the other is for covers. Choose which ever is appropriate. After that, head into the article and get to adding it in. When making pictures, use the double brackets, followed by Image:filenameofyourpicture.jpgorwhatever|captiontogowiththepicture|sizeofthepicture(I recommend 225 px for the Superherobox; experiment with how big you want to make it in the article proper)|thumb (to make a thumbnail to click on later). Experiment in the Sandbox to get the hang of it. Wikipedia:Picture tutorial has more, including in-depth on how to stick pictures with text. Good luck!--DoctorWorm7 05:20, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Speedrun separation

edit

Hello, Cybertooth85. I just reverted an edit you did to the Speedrun article. I disagree with moving the notable games for speedrunning section to its own article. Since the change was rather large and because the state the section was after the move was done was pretty awfully silent, I'd like to ask of you to use the talk page before doing such a thing. Thanks. —Michiel Sikma, 16:27, 20 May 2006 (UTC) I see that you actually did use the talk page, but you didn't bother discussing such a change. Maybe we can do so afterall. —Michiel Sikma, 16:29, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Top 10 Charcter list

edit

No worries. I'd be greatful for images as I don't have a scanner. Also this list needs expanding. Do you think The character list for 49ers should be merged in? I'll look into it once I've expanded this page a bit. Palendrom 04:57, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pics are looking good! A friend has all my issues at the moment so I'll be adding more when I get them back (I can't remember most of the character's "real" names). We don't need to add pics for all but I think generally more is better for comic book articles. Palendrom 03:23, 31 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I noticed that you listed yourself as a grammar nazi. I actually have a grammar issue that I thought you might be willing to help with. It is regarding whether or not dances (like waltz, tango, swing, ballet, etc.) should be capitalized. There is currently a discussion about it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Dance and Talk:Lindy Hop. Ask for help

edit

I have seen your name listed in film wiki project and you are a film student. I need some expert help on cinematic genres and also Englsih language. Would you please take a look at the cinematic genres section at Abbas Kiarostami when you have time? I am not an expert and we want to make that section brief and compact and transfer irrelevant materials to other sections. We spent a long time on that, still far from standards. Any helps or comments would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your time.Sangak 18:16, 4 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please see the current version of Abbas Kiarostami. I think it is now clearly class B with helps from some of my friends. Hopefully it will reach to GA soon. Character Images

edit

Hi - as far as "official word" goes, the guideline you probably want to look at is this one. BLACKKITE 18:58, 27 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Yes - you'll need to put fair use rationales on all the images, or else they'll be deleted regardless. You can see a typical template here. As regards number of images, the important parts of WP:NFCC are 3(a) and 8. If there are more than "a few" images then the general rule is to treat the article as a fair use image gallery and the images tend to be deleted. You also need to think about notability. In general, the less notable the individual character, the less likely they are to require a fair use image. Hope this helps, BLACKKITE 20:35, 27 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:49erscover.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:49erscover.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 13:57, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Respect Thread Conversions

edit

I'm looking for folks to help convert Respect Threads to wiki formatting on Project Fanboy: WikiFans. Respect Threads, showcase scans of feats performed by comic book characters and have gained an audience on several comic book message boards. A few other wiki editors and myself are trying to convert them from the unprofessional look of a bunch of posts on a message board to the formatting common with WikiMedia wiki's. To view an example of what we're doing, here is a link to Respect Silver Surfer.

I was wondering if you might have time to contribute your comic book knowledge and/or scans of comic book characters performing feats, and help us out with our Respect Articles project?Millennium Cowboy (talk) 03:04, 27 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

Thanks for uploading File:DrMrsTheMonarch.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
