Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, Cteblmoc. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 05:07, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- I want to do these updates, and I apologize for not properly putting them in, but I have been blocked. You indicated that I didn't have any articles written about Bradley Laborman running for Mayor. There is an interview with Chicago ABC scheduled this week and a few other media sources. If we supply those can we have this ban lifted. I was told we could not "promote" a candidate. There was no promotion, this was purely an informative page on an already notable individual who is now running for mayor and has not previously had a Wikipedia page. Cteblmoc (talk) 12:28, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- I also did not see this as promotional; I worked in the same parameters as any other notable candidate who has a Wikipedia page already. Cteblmoc (talk) 12:29, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

- I am not allowed to reply because I am banned, I would like to fix this situation, but I am not being given a chance to explain. Cteblmoc (talk) 12:22, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

- It is very likely that you are the same person as the one using the VoteLaborman account. You should never have created this account at all, as it is considered block evasion. You should have used your original account to appeal the block.
- Wikipedia has strict rules about using multiple accounts. Do not edit using this account ever again. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:22, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- Oh it was a misunderstanding, which I remedied... I thought I had to stop using the other account because it said "VoteLaborman" I was not avoiding a block I just didn't realize I could rename my current email... BTW, you have been so helpful... everyone else has just told me to get lost! 96.87.65.85 (talk) 15:27, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
