Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Cine Santhosh. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Ravensfire (talk) 15:24, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Film ratings and satellite rights

edit

Hi there, I know you meant well with your edits here and here and here, we don't by default include film ratings in our articles. Per WP:FILMRATING, "In film articles, avoid indiscriminate identification of ratings and instead focus on ratings for which there is substantial coverage from reliable sources." This means that if there is some noteworthy reason to include a film rating, like if a studio released the first R-rated children's film, or if a film had to go through many changes to move from one rating to another, that would be fine to include, because there's academic value presented. A reader in Brazil isn't going to know what "U/A" is or why Kaala received the rating, because there's no context for it and ultimately it doesn't matter. Please note that this guideline is part of our Manual of Style for film articles, and represents widespread community consensus.

Please also note that per several discussions at the Indian cinema task force at Wikipedia, the community is not interested in satellite rights sales. These are mundane business transactions and there's nothing noteworthy about a film being broadcast on cable/satellite. It's standard operating procedure for tens of thousands of films across the globe to be released in theatres, then to see some rebroadcasting on cable. Not important. It would be appreciated if you'd please avoid adding this content. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:49, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Film poster images

edit

Here's a page that has some information that might help you out with film poster images - WP:WikiProject Film/Multimedia#Images

I would also suggest looking at several poster images that have already been uploaded and see how the uploaded filled out the needed information. File:Ra.Oneposter.jpg is a decent example as the film article is considered a Good Article. In particular, note that the source is very precise and not just a broad source. For example, "Hindustan Times" with no link or a link to just the main page would not be a helpful or valid source, you need to be specific on where you found the image. Also, be honest and up front. Lying by trying to claim obviously copyrighted images that you clearly had nothing to do with is deceptive, dishonest, makes people less willing to help you out and can lead to you being blocked. Ravensfire (talk) 19:17, 28 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please read and follow Ravensfire's message. Both the author and source of File:Vada Chennai Poster.jpg are completely unacceptable. Please 1) fix this one; 2) check all others you have uploaded and fix any that are not specific; 3) do not continue making this mistake in your upload. Any that are not fixed soon will likely be deleted. Continuing to upload with these sorts of mistakes will get your edit privileges revoked. Consider this a formal administrative warning. Unsourced content

edit

Hi there, in this edit you added a runtime of 164 minutes to Devadas. From where are you getting your information? This source indicates a runtime of 159 minutes. Can you provide a reference, please? I would appreciate a response as well, please. Thank you, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:00, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

edit

Please add only those posters which show the release date. If you can't find one, don't replace the poster which already shows the release date. --Kailash29792 (talk) 08:31, 30 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:04, 30 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
