Problematic edit summaries edit

Please assume good faith in your dealings with other editors. Assume that they are here to improve rather than harm Wikipedia. These two edit summaries are inappropriate.   This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits such as the one you made here. If you vandalize Wikipedia again, you will be blocked from editing. LessHeard vanU (talk) 15:04, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your response to my talkpage. The warning refers to the edit summaries, as indicated by the section header and my comment dated 3 September. It is inappropriate to make another editor feel nervous, threatened or otherwise discomforted by means of an edit summary (or indeed on a talkpage). WP:CIVIL's nutshell, in the last sentence, says, "avoid upsetting other editors whenever possible." Please bear this in mind in your future interactions. LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:45, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Charmed36, the fact that you think this isn't disruptive shows how long you have managed to get away with doing what you like. It is very incivil. — Realist2 19:48, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also, please stop edit warring with User:Jamalar and her IP's. Jamalar often doesn't sign in, using IP's that begin 86.... to edit war. If you see these IP's tell me about it and I can pass it onto an admin who understands Jamalar's history. If Jamalar herself edit war's also report it to me. — Realist2 20:00, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree, like I said please report Jamalar and any of her IP's to me. I got her account blocked for a week and I'm happy to keep on at her until it sinks in. Do not edit war back and stop with the incivility. — Realist2 20:05, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Stop edit warring and actually help us edit

Charmed you are still edit warring with Jamalars IP's. You know full well that Jamalar uses IP's that begin 86.25 and 86.29 . Why are you still doing it? If you see one of Jamalars IP's let me know (I've said this already to you). Jamalars main account has been blocked indef but we can't stop Jamalar unless you help us. I'm currently trying to get a range block on Jamalars IP's but I need your help. Feel free to revert Jamalar's IP's but make it known in the edit summary that it is "User:Jamalar evading indef block using IP's". Then let me know and I can report it. Please respond to this message. — Realist2 18:13, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, you should report any of his IP's on spot, irrelevant of whether or not they are causing trouble. In the mean time have you considered asking for page protection? This would be a great way of stopping Jamalar editing those Gwen Stefani articles? — Realist2 18:45, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
A one week range block was put on what we believe to be Jamalars Ip's. If and when you see more you know what to do. Hopefully things will calm down a bit now. Interestingly there is a new editor, MrPerfect who seems to have taken Jamalars place as a disruption. — Realist2 14:18, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've got most of the singles by pink, Gwen and a few others on my watchlist now. I'm disappointed that yet again you failed to tell me of Jamalar's IP's. — Realist2 20:50, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes Stefani, unfortunately I have to because I cannot trust you to report Jamalars socks, despite me pleading with you multiple times. According to this edit you knew Jamalar was back by 6pm and you had already reverted some of her edits before that. I am near convinced that you enjoy these little edit wars and will consider seeking admin advise on you behavior regarding this. — Realist2 20:59, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

About your edits. edit

Wind it up is considered a pop song that is backed up with a source..you have no reason to revert. This is your opinion obviously. Crash is a Pop song. "old school gold chained rapper" refers to the video. and what you waiting for, dance-pop +electo-rock= dance-punk, dance punk is also sourced, so there is no reason to remove it. I know you wont stop this annoying habbit of yours..but I thought i might aswell tell you. And please dont respond saying its because im an IP user. And stop reporting me just because your not getting your own way or you think im annoying. I'm not here to vandalise or to argue with you. Doll Domination edit

3RR was violated about a million times. You weren't necessarily protecting it from vandalism, since no one was intentionally destroying the article. The page was being constantly reverted back and fourth between different versions. The page will be protected for a while. Violating 3rr is worthy of a block of both parties, but I find that simply protecting the article works best. Orane (talk) 04:00, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, you're not blocked. The article is protected for a couple hours, maybe a day, tops. Nothing big. Save all the changes you want to make to the article in your sandbox (if you have one), or on the article talk page until protection is lifted. Orane (talk) 04:07, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
A note before I remove protection from the article: do not blindly revert the changes others have made. It's better to contact them on their talk page, or address issues on the article talk page and come to some sort of agreement. With that said, however, I realize that you keep writing that the album has received negative reviews. However, the other editor sourced the point that the album has received "mixed" reviews, and I think that point should stay. Orane (talk) 16:05, 25 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Taremixvid3.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Taremixvid3.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Million_Moments (talk) 08:57, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Whatcha Think About That edit

The article doesn't appear to meet necessary criteria for notability under Wikipedia:MUSIC#Songs. See this quote especially: "Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been performed independently by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable." If you disagree however, feel free to remove the "prod" tag. And this can also be discussed on the talk page for the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Raven1977 (talkcontribs) 19:41, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fantasy Ride edit

The genres come the Billboard article. You changed them for what. Charmed36 (talk) 05:31, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Could you provide me with a link, please? Also, an album can experiment with various styles but still be grounded in one genre. On Wikipedia, we are supposed to list the genre that the album reflects. So, if for example a couple songs on Ciara's album explored rock or even indie, you wouldn't say Fantasy Ride is an indie album (and you shouldn't put "indie" in the genre field). No, it would still be an R&B/Hip hop album. Secondly, genres like "Crunk&B" aren't standard popular music genres. It's just a catch phrase for a particular style of hip hop-influenced R&b, but it's still R&B/Hip hop nonetheless. Orane (talk) 05:42, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Um, the link didn't really prove anything at all. If anything, it reinforces what I stated above. The fact that she has a few "freestyle-leaning" songs doesn't mean that it go in the genre field. The album is still a R&B album. Orane (talk) 21:50, 1 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Youtube was a credible source. the reason i wrote those tracks on the confirmed list was more to do with what was happening in the videos. they were her wild fm promotions for fantasy ride in which she even says she's performing new songs!!! (Lil-unique1 (talk) 00:25, 27 February 2009 (UTC))Reply

Katy Perry edit

I don't understand why you keep removing The Matrix from Katy Perry's album chronology. She sings on almost every track on the album. That is a lot more than the backing vocals she provides on Goodbye for Now, which is listed in her single chronology. ~themonkeyofdoom —Preceding undated comment was added at 04:54, 11 February 2009 (UTC).Reply

Then why do you leave POD's single on her chronogly. POD is not her. With every other artist on the wikipedia their featured work is listed. In Madonna's chronology soundtracks that she's featured on are listed. This Matrix album contain seven tracks with Perry as a main vocalist, with her as backing vocals on most of the rest, as well as having co-written a majority of the songs. ~themonkeyofdoom —Preceding undated comment was added at 06:21, 11 February 2009 (UTC).Reply
So since every artist has featured work in their chronology why does the The Matrix not fit into that? It is and album by The Matrix featuring Katy Perry and Adam Longlands. ~themonkeyofdoom —Preceding undated comment was added at 20:56, 11 February 2009 (UTC).Reply

Radar edit

Hi there. I just wanna let you know that I reverted the page back to your last revision. Now that I think about it, it is best that the original intro stays put, rather than it starting out as "the fourth single from circus", as the original song is from Blackout, and should read as such. Sorry for the edit war.

Wikilinking edit

Hi. I noticed your editing comment on Ciara. There are a couple ways to answer. You can just go by the guidelines in WP:CONTEXT. But leaving those aside, the Wikilinks are rarely used, and make it more difficult for people to read. I was helping the article by removing them. I know this goes contrary to a lot of common wisdom, but I've been a professional Webmaster for a couple of large companies, and I know the statistics. After about 10 links in an article, the number of times readers click-though *doesn't increase*. I.e., You want to pick the 10 most important things to link. In Ciara? If I was her Webmaster? As in: she's paying me? I'd get rid of a lot more links! E.g., "Billboard", "mononym" "singer-songwriter", "Justin Timberlake", "Atlanta, Georgia", etc. (BTW, she isn't paying me.) The lies you are telling about me edit

I see the lies you're whispering in Kww's ear about me. I DO NOT simply remove pop from the genre. I only remove pop from the genre IF THE SONG ISN'T POP, and I also removed sources that aren't legitimate sources, like the sources you tend to post. "The user believes that a music review is not a legit source and opinions are;" And just what do you think a music review is, genious? It's an OPINION. Get that? A music reviews from some non-notable person is an OPINION, not factual, and therefor a music review is no more and legit source for song genre's than I am. Just because the words are on a website does not make it a legitimate source. On top of that, not every genre you insist on putting up has a "source" there, and NONE of them have legitimate sources. The sweeping majority of ALL song article on Wikipedia do not have sources backing up the genre type(s). "Check the user's contribution;" Rofl, who do you think you and Kww are? Neither of you have any authoritative control over me. You can revert my edits and I can revert yours. I'll be checking your contributions also. 71.12.0.105 (talk) 23:57, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Non-studio albums are also included (see Invincible (Michael Jackson album), In the Zone, Like a Prayer, and many others), as they are part of the artist's chronology. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Tppvid12.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Tppvid12.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Hey edit

Thanks for adding the writers of "No Way". Do you have any idea how that song is obtained with the album? I have yet to find a source, though some claim it's a track they received on downloading it after purchasing. CycloneGU (talk) 02:11, 23 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

The song is digital bonus track, but i don't know where actually. The source has Zing. The song built on the same structure as Britney Spears's "Quicksand". Charmed36 (talk) 02:15, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I placed the Zing source, it was the first mention I saw of a bonus track. I went to ladygaga.com and their forums later and several mentioned receiving the track in posts, so I guess I have more research to do. CycloneGU (talk) 02:39, 23 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re: Your edit comment in "Bad Romance" article at "Lady Gaga singles chronology" for "Telephone" that "Beyonce is NOT important".See the comment immediately above again showing the 'industry standard' or common usage description. The 'featured artist' is in the recording [what you hear], so they are important. Without them, the song does NOT exist as they are part of it. Please take the time to read the edits before immediately reverting the articles to the way they were. If you have cause to revert them, please state it; otherwise it falls under the catagory of vandalism. Thank you. —The Real One Returns 21:41, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:224.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:224.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 11:33, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Simple Girl.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Simple Girl.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:41, 4 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
