June 2022 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Saban English has been reverted.
Your edit here to Saban English was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://sabadictionary.weebly.com/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 15:37, 11 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello CareAhLine! Your additions to Saba have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:10, 13 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention and for removing the affected content. I appreciate you providing me with the resources above. CareAhLine (talk) 21:08, 13 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Diannaa Could you let me know if my revision in the Etymology section of the Saba article adheres to Wikipedia's guidelines? Thank you for your help! CareAhLine (talk) 03:46, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
The new version is okay from a copyright point of view. — Diannaa (talk) 13:23, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Spotting Saint Martin edit

I thought your edit about the island of Saint Martin was a mistake, so I reverted it. But it was only half a mistake, as the island is divided in two (and fixing the disambiguation page was correct). Well spotted! Wizmut (talk) 06:09, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oops! Great catch. Thanks for the half correction :-) CareAhLine (talk) 14:16, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Fort Willoughby edit

Hiya - thanks for the new article! You might consider slinging a project tag or two on the talk page? Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 07:48, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Alexandermcnabb. Do you mind letting me know if I did that correctly here? And if I didn't, could you provide me with an example talk page showing me what that should look like? Sorry, still a bit of a n00b :-) CareAhLine (talk) 21:16, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Fortifications in Barbados edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Fortifications in Barbados indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 03:34, 30 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oops! I added the category before publishing the new article I'd planned to tag with that category. Fixing now. Thanks for the instructions on how to contest. CareAhLine (talk) 21:41, 30 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Hi CareAhLine, nice work on your new article. Very few articles link to it, and I would suggest adding links in other appropriate articles. I would also suggest adding the page to other categories.
