Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you are interested, or you can add it directly to your user page by copying the following: {{WPMILHIST Announcements}}.
- Important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, and article logistics.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention, as well as a number of review alerts.
- The project has a stress hotline available for your use.

Burmese–Siamese War (1548–49) edit
Hi,
Per your edit, both the Burmese and Siamese kings had significant numbers of Portuguese mercenaries under their pay. Should the link be added to the Burmese side as well? Just want to hear your opinion. Regards, Sodacan (talk) 13:00, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Battle of Cartagena de Indias edit
Had to revert your deletion of that reference. Ref is pertinent to that section on estimate of wounded and sick.Tttom1 (talk) 22:59, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- You seemed to be missing the point about that fact that the reference refers to early 1742 not 1741 when as I explained Cartegena took place. The list of sick can change dramatically in over half a year correction... three quarters of a year. I will change it again. Bruich (Bruich) 22:59, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- The expedition to Cartegena lasted from April to May 1741 the reference that you have used itself points to early 1742 which is by far then well and truly over. In addition the reference points the expedition to the West Indies so this would include casualties and sick from Santiago De Cuba which is a separate operation from Cartegena. I hope you understand the point I am making here. In all fairness it's like trying to reference the casualties from the Normandy campaign (1944) in 1945! Bruich (Bruich) 01:45, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Action of 12 December 1782 edit
I've just been reading Action of 12 December 1782, and it strikes me that it would be a fairly good candidate for a Did You Know factlet on the Main Page, perhaps even the lead, if the image looks alright at low resolution. Something along the lines of "...that on 12 December 1782, a single British frigate defeated five enemy ships, taking two as prizes?" (not all that unusual, but sounds punchy enough to make it). The only issue is the lack of inline citations in the article, which is a requirement for the feature. Is there any chance you could make clear which of your references was used for which passages in the article? GeeJo (t)⁄(c) • 09:31, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
- This is a work in progress just reading on the matter still and may add more and will make citations later. Corrected casualties too. I would agree for putting the article up as a candidate for a Did You Know factlet I had to read things twice over to make sure I was typing the article in a correct manner. Mauritius campaignbox edit
Dear Bruichladdich1, while I appreciate your interest in naval history of this era on Wikipedia and think that you have made some very helpful additions to the field, I couldn't help but notice the brewing edit war here. I cannot and have no intention of speaking to the accusations of sockpuppetry, and I do not think your edits are vandalism, but User:Pietje96 is correct that one cannot simply invent names for naval battles to make them look good in an infobox. Please only make changes of this kind where you can provide a reliable source that uses the term "Battle of XXX" or a variation thereof. Regards--Jackyd101 (talk) 17:02, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
It's also not polite to throw around accusations of vandalism (as seen on Pietje's talk page and in edit summaries on various template histories) for what is essentially a good faith content dispute.
