Swimsuit Templates

As a leading editor at Brooklyn Decker you may have an interest in the debate at Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2008_June_27 regarding swimsuit issue templates.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 04:25, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Guidance

Thanks for the welcome. Can you provide me with some critique on my first new article. I feel like I did pretty good but then again, I'm biased. -Gych (talk) 18:58, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

IMO, it looks pretty good. I proposed the article for the Did You Know section that you see on Wikipedia's main page. I am unfamiliar with the process, so I'm not that confident in its acceptance. But we'll see.--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 19:43, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Highland Valley Copper/Logan Lake merge

Granted, SFSorrow doesn't know how to biuld an article properly, but the constructive course of action would be to add cats and stubs and the appropriate talkpage templates, and whatever other cleanup. This was a "wrong" merge- why not merge it to Ashcroft, or just into the regional article (either Thompson Country or Nicola Country or both). Mine articles should be independent of town articles, even with company towns; partly because the mines change hands, the towns die, the mines go on; they're different objects/places and have different cats. Logan Lake was teh company town for Highland Valley, but it's a sifferent place, as different as Merritt and Lower Nicola or Aspen Grove or Princeton. Just because places are near each other or interconnected doesn't mean they should be merged, especially wihtout discussion or any attempt to fix the articles' novitiate flaws. You've offended SFSorrow and I suggest you apologize; he's a vluable resource and knows more about various aspects of BC history and geography than some of teh rest of us put together (BC Wikipedians I mean).Skookum1 (talk) 03:11, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Checkers checkers everywhere...

On 8 July, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article International Checker Hall of Fame, which you encouraged me to write. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Timeline of Boumediene v. Bush

Thanks for pointing that out (there were some GFDL issues with the article in any event, then). I'll restore and merge later today. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 21:07, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Ugly Ugly Citations

Hey...you suggested I could turn to you for advice, so ... as I'm adding in citations into articles I'm finding them harder and harder to edit. The citations take up more raw text than the article text itself. See Business.com, especially the History section, for an example of what I mean. Is there a better way??? -Gych (talk) 05:30, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Adbot DYK

On 11 July, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Adbot, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Tom Goldstein page

You initiated an NPOV discussion on this page, but did not respond to comments... nor did you suggest any changes. Can you either be more specific about the text you think constitutes "fawning", or remove the NPOV status? Given that your NPOV tag has now been up for a couple of months, it seems like this needs to be done rather soon, or I will remove the NPOV designation. Gacggt (talk) 10:02, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

There was nothing really to respond to. The assertion that the information in the article is true and sourced is unrelated to a neutrality determination. In any case, if you disagree with the tag than just remove it. I don't have a strong opinion about the issue either way. Best, --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 12:25, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

The Ox-Bow Incident (novel)

I've undid your redirect of The Ox-Bow Incident (novel). Please review the talk page on The Ox-Bow Incident and see that there was dicussion that the movie and the book are quite different, and I will also call on WP:BK point number 3: The book has been made or adapted with attribution into a motion picture that was released into multiple commercial theaters, or was aired on a nationally televised network or cable station in any country. Yngvarr (t) (c) 21:42, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Oh, ok. I didn't realize your intentions. However, the intro at The Ox-Bow Incident has to fixed because it introduces the novel, not the movie (hence, my mistake). Best, --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 21:47, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Yea, you literally caught me right in the middle of editing the movie; I hate redlinks, so I saved the novel article first, then added a hatnote and fixed up some of the other stuff. Thanks! Yngvarr (t) (c) 21:49, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

LGBT project tag

Please do not remove project tags, especially if you're not an active member of the project and removing it is likely to be seen as pointy or controversial. Banjeboi 03:26, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia policy doesn't require that an editor sign up to a wikiproject before adding or removing banners. Wikipedia policy does require, however, that editors follow the consensus. The discussion of multiple editors at the Charlie Christ talkpage clearly indicate that the whole "gay thing" should, at most, only get a brief mention. Therefore, any sort of banner that is representative of what editors have agreed is minor issue in the article, is a banner that flouts the consensus,. Thus, not only is the addition of the LGBT banner "pointy and controversial", it is violative of the Wikipedia:Five pillars. Best, --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 03:41, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
Policy may not specifically require it but policy does stress cooperation. It's a collapsed tag, firstly, so one would have to expand it first to even see more than the name of the wikiproject - hardly "flouting" anything. Second, the open RfC currently is discussing what the present status of reporting on Crist's sexuality should be - the whole "gay thing". That this is an issue in one of the most watched US elections is hardly a surprise. The project tag is used on lots of BLPs of people who aren't gay themselves but hold an interest of the project. It doesn't mean we own the article or that Crist is gay, or anything except that it is of interest to the project.Banjeboi 11:58, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the recognition!!!

I really appreciate it! 8th Ohio Volunteers (talk) 04:25, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Hehe. Atleast someone is reading my rants. Don't know why you're getting all excited about beating a bunch of triple-A teams. :-) --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 20:07, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Uh oh, now I'll forsure get banned. The Twins are so damm weird. On paper they always look like shit but they're always competitive. The Twins also have my favorite player - Carlos Gomez. He's usually clueless, but when you see him you just feel like pinching his cheeks. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 20:25, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Don't know him, when you said his name I thought of Uncle Fester for some odd reason even though Raul Julia was Gomez Addams. Weird train of non-thought. :) And I sort of read, scanned relevant talk pages when Igot back. TravellingCari 20:40, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Within one week of the beginning of the season, my new centerfielder had me saying Torii who?. Fascinating raw talent. Part of the Santana trade. He's frustrating to watch, but just as I'm about to dismiss him, he hits three doubles in a game, two bunt singles in the next, catches ridiculous flyballs up against the fence...Gomez + Casilla = dynamic! Follow those base dwellers with Mauer and Morneau, a single from either knocks them in, whatever base they're standing on. Seven of my starting nine have batting averages at 300 or above. 2 (the M & M boys) are in the top five in the AL for BA. Bullpen era is low, starters are surprisingly superb as n00bs. And yet, they get no love on sportscenter. Exactly what the Twins want BTW. Stealth bombers. Under the radar. They will be in the postseason, with probably one of the best records, and will still be discounted as "underdogs." Which is exactly what they want. Watch out, you overpaid, momma's boys......Keeper ǀ 76 21:05, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Be careful. The Twins GM might be reading this and will be persuaded to trade them for some more prospects. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 21:14, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Heh. That's so freekin true. Except we did re-sign our closer, and our best hitters. The fantastic thing about the Twins, because of superb coaching (Gardy, Joe Vavra, Anderson(Pitching), it doesn't matter who we put out there, we'ere always competitive. Pray tell, which AL Central team has won the most pennants in the 2000s? Indians? No. Tigers? No (not even during there World series run, they were wildcards). White sox? no. Don't even get me started 'bout the royals....it doesn't matter what name/number hits the field at the archaic metrodome, they will be a good team. I applaud them for unloading the "superstars" at the right time, to save money. Good business sense, all around. We will never be an East coast team (you know the ones, the ones that buy their teams instead of build their teams), and I'm damn proud of that. Keeper ǀ 76 21:47, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
:-p Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano, Andy Pettite, Jorge Posada, Joba Chamberlain, Bernie Williams, Melky Cabrera, etc. :) And we *didn't* bet the farm on Johann Santana, who has yet to prove his success in New York. I was proud of them for that. Speaking of small towns/markets, I'm reading Manning, and hearing Archie talk about the downside of playing for the small market 'aints is just painful. TravellingCari 03:36, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah! Let's smack around Keeper! Hey Keeper, the Twins are doing as much "building" as the "East Coast teams." Most of the Twins roster are players that were received via trade with an East Coast Team. They got them after one of the previous prospects that they received actually became decent so they had to get rid of him. And when the new prospects pan out they'll be out of Minnesota faster then Carlos Gomez can run. You call this revolving door mentality "building"?--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 03:48, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Ann Suinner

Hi Brewcrewer. Thanks for you comment on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ann Suinner. Would appreciate your actually weighing in on the delete/keep issue itself if you have time to look at some of the referenced articles. Tx. Bongomatic (talk) 15:16, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

I dunno. I'm not crazy about pageant winners having Wikipedia bios, but there are less notable winners with articles. As a random example see Miss Tennessee USA, where the most recent winners have articles. If you would like to remove pageant winners a better place to start might be state winners who are far less notable than country winners. Best, --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 15:30, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

3RR

You are about to break WP:3RR. Warning both parties. Please attempt to resolve the dispute with discussion not reversion (and edit summaries do not substitute for talk pages). Thankyou. ViridaeTalk 00:34, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

I agree with brewcrewer that Viridae’s trigger-happy attitude and the attendant accusations, are not conducive to harmonious editing. Me and brewcrewer are actively trying to resolve a dispute very calmly. Most of the edits are not even considered reverts if you report this to the 3RR board.--Certified.Gangsta (talk) 01:35, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you CG. I think it was a simple misunderstanding on your part, and you unintentionally removed content. All is fine now, I guess. Unfortunately, there are those that must counterbalance their real-life inferiority issues by plastering others' talk pages with insulting, nonsensical, and paternalistic messages. So is the life of Wikipedia, we have to get used to it. Take care, --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 01:43, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
