Community de-Adminship - finalization poll for the CDA proposal

After tolling up the votes in the revision proposals, it emerged that 5.4 had the most support, but elements of that support remained unclear, and various comments throughout the polls needed consideration.
A finalisation poll (intended, if possible, to be one last poll before finalising the CDA proposal) has been run to;
gather opinion on the 'consensus margin' (what percentages, if any, have the most support) and

You left a message for me about a screenshot I uploaded, it's now included in the relevant article and is no longer an orphan.
I wasn't sure which copyright policy to choose, and would like to ask you about the policies - non-free use seemed the closest fit. I put a note up on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags, I think a subcategory is needed specific to screenshots from a live webcam. The other categories (movies, music videos, television, and vodcast) are not a good fit for live video from a webcam, since (unless the owner is recording it) the stream is impermanent and not a pre-existing thing like a music video. Do you have any suggestions for a better copyright designation for the screenshot?

We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. We've had some shakeups regarding late entries, flag changes and early dropouts, but the competition is now established- there will be no more flag changes or new competitors. Congratulations to Sasata (submissions), our current leader, who, at the time of writing, has more listed points than Hunter Kahn (submissions) and TonyTheTiger (submissions) (second and third place respectively) combined. A special well done also goes to Fetchcomms (submissions)- his artcle Jewel Box (St. Louis, Missouri) was the first content to score points in the competition.
Around half of competitors are yet to score. Please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. 64 of the 149 current competitors will advance to round 2- if you currently have no points, do not worry, as over half of the current top 64 have under 50 points. Everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places in round 2! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. hi, i just saw you converted a png logo i uploaded to svg. in the meantime i uploaded another one, if you don't mind, please vectorize it: File:Vila Isabel Futebol Clube c.png, and substitute the one on the wiki page.
how do i vectorize a logo?
ps- it cost nothing to credit sources. while it's nothing major, i still took some time to clean the logo and convert it from jpg.

Hello Ben Stone, though most vectorizations are done manually, I had done mine with automatic software. Though this method is more efficient, the output is usually of lower quality. right, your advice may have some merit, but it's lovely the way you just dodged the point about "two to tango" and how Jeffro did not respect my wishes, yet he expects me to respect his. Put all the onus on me. Nobody's perfect. Not Jeffro (or you) either. Nor me. But Jeffro has issues (with others too, as I've seen him on Talk pages....). I've had no other issues with "civility" with any other person, basically, on SCORES of articles, as far as actual words, per se. (Except for maybe Sally, but she and Jeffro act as one a lot of times anyway.) Even with the Evolution blog, I was able to communicate somewhat with some, even if not in total agreement. (And some other editors and I are actually quite friendly.) I'm just keeping it real and being frank. No "incivility" intended per se. Jeffro decided to chime in the other day with his nonsense, about something not even having anything to do with him. And even after I removed his stuff (from my own talk page) he constantly put it back in. How "civil" is that? (or are you just biased too? seems so) Singling me out, Blur, is not only unfair, it's also just not honest or accurate. Round one is over, and round two has begun! Congratulations to the 64 contestants who have made it through, but well done and thank you to all contestants who took part in our first round. A special well done goes to Sasata (submissions), our round one winner (1010 points), and to Hunter Kahn (submissions) and TonyTheTiger (submissions), who were second and third respectively (640 points/605 points). Sasata was awarded the most points for both good articles (300 points) and featured articles (600 points), and TonyTheTiger was awarded the most for featured topics (225 points), while Hunter Kahn claimed the most for good topics (70). Staxringold (submissions) claimed the most featured lists (240 points) and featured pictures (35 points), Geschichte (submissions) claimed the most for Did you know? entries (490 points), Jujutacular (submissions) claimed the most for featured sounds (70 points) and Candlewicke (submissions) claimed the most for In the news entries (40 points). No one claimed a featured portal or valued picture.
Credits awarded after the end of round one but before round two may be claimed in round two, but remember the rule that content must have been worked on in some significant way during 2010 by you for you to claim points. The groups for round two will be placed up shortly, and the submissions' pages will be blanked. Are you the person who linked the wrong photo of Carl E. Taylor (b. July 26, 1916, d. Feb 4, 2010) to the bio that was put up in Feb 2010?
The photo now showing is from 1936 for a Carl Taylor who was photographed by someone in the Farm Security Agency -- and is absolutely *not* the person in this bio. I know. I am Carl E. Taylor's daughter. My brother has tried to get this delinked & another accurate photo put in place.
If you did make this wrong link, could you please undo it?

With a month still to go, as well as 16 wildcard places, everything is still to play for. ich bins nochmal. Ich habe im Forum für die Neulinge eine Nachricht bekommen, dass mein Artikel keine zuverlässige Quellen hat und wenn ich das nicht bearbeite, wird der gelöscht. Ich habe mir die Artikeln bei Wiki von anderen Unternehmen angeschaut und sie geben auch nur als Quellen eigene Website, sowie ich es gemacht habe. Ich habe keine anderen Quellen, da ich den Artikel übersetzt habe, das heisst meine Quellen sind die duetsche Version und die Website.
Ich weiss es nicht was ich machen soll. Es ist echt kompliziert.

Hello Blurpeace, I have come across File:Tokaido Nagoya factory.jpg, which is an image from Wikimedia Commons and has an 'ineligible for copyright and therefore in the public domain' description attached. The original image appears to be from here, with a clear copyright statement on that page. I am not sure how to proceed since the image is on Wikimedia Commons rather than Wikipedia, and I don't wish to create a new account. (I looked at Wikipedia's guide on possibly unfree files and it looks like I would have to create an account on Wikimedia Commons.) Also, since you already have an account on Wikipedia, just click on "my preferences" at the top-right of your interface, and then click on "Manage your global account" or "Merge this account" (not sure what it's titled). Hi, I noticed that you uploaded File:Fiji Water logo.svg onto commons claiming pd-textlogo. THis only applies to logos from the United States and not from other countries like Fiji. Also the colouring and style in the "Fiji" is unusual, and not jsut plain text. Therefore I suspect that copyright does apply even in USA. However it could be loaded under fair use in en.wikipedia. Any design which is an artistic work may be copyrighted, however," is what Commons:Licensing says. The 1999 Copyright Act of Fiji states in §2-1 "'artistic work' means a graphic work, photograph, sculpture, collage or model, irrespective of artistic quality." A graphic work is defined as "painting, drawing, diagram, map, chart, or plan." I do not believe it is a "photograph, sculpture, collage or model." Hope that helps. Hello Arch-TRHO, the license given at the Flickr page is acceptable but I'm not sure that the account holder is the "copyright holder" (i.e., the one legally allowed to choose the licensing). Congratulations to Hunter Kahn (submissions), our clear overall round winner, and to ThinkBlue (submissions) and Arsenikk (submissions), who were solidly second and third respectively. There were a good number of high scorers this round- competition was certainly tough! Round three begins tomorrow, but anything promoted after the end of round two is eligible for points. 16 contestants (eight pool leaders and eight wildcards) will progress to round four in two months- things are really starting to get competitive. Well, to quote the article itself, "He won gold in the Bejing common games in 2008 held in China, and also got an award of honor from Punjab chief minister Sh Parkash Singh Badal." If I'm interpreting that properly, that means he's been at the Olympic games in Beijing (which passes WP:ATHLETE). The awards under "Main achievements" only further that. To be honest, I thought that was a bad translation for "Olympic games", but I was probably wrong now that I've closely reviewed the sources (and used a friend; bodybuilding isn't an Olympic sport). He's definitely notable to an extent (i.e., not CSD worthy), but I suggest bringing this to AFD. I'd rather not see the article deleted per BLPPROD. The article seemingly suffers from systemic bias. I am not exactly sure what the "boilerplate" metaphor implies, but am inclined to believe you felt it was substitute text of an impersonal nature. I see that it is rather generic but nonetheless original text. I am the editor who is new to AFC, and welcome any advice you might impart to me in the future. I can finally say now that I know how all those long complicated edit summaries get put in so quickly. Undo doesn't give such a detailed description and I always thought I had to add it myself after much labour, but now I finally know rollbacking is what does it. =) (In case you can't tell, I just did my first rollback after I was too late on my actual first attempt. I disagree (obviously), the articles are created by a user banned from Wikipedia. If they go to the main page (and they could) then protection from new and anon. users seems a good idea. What is the best way to go about resubmitting a declined article for creation?

Prior to submitting the article for the band, Chicanery, I submitted a page for their album. Not knowing that the page for the band had to exist prior to the album page (the basis for declining the submission), I submitted the album page when I finished it, which was before my finishing the page for the band.
The declined album page is the only reverted entry that I have experienced, at this point, in my history of editing.
Since originally submitting, I have made some changes to the write-up for the album, and the infobox photo requires retrieval.
The declined submittal is at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Chicanery (album). What is the best way to go about resubmitting to Articles for Creation? Should I revise the original submission, or submit the revised copy as a first time submission? Could you possibly help me in retrieving the infobox image? Thank you for your help. Thank you for your note. I appreciate the need to keep articles neutral, which is exactly why I felt a need to edit an article that was very noticeably anti-God/Christian. It was very obvious that the writer had no understanding of Christian spirituality and was not able to define or represent it properly.
A note at the top of the page asked for more specific definitions of spiritualty from the various religions. I assumed that to mean that this was an honest desire for accurate representation of all the varying points of view concerning spirituality.
I do not assume to know or be able to express the spirituality of other religions or views. I leave that to those that hold other beliefs. But it is important that in defining and expressing Christian spirituality, knowing that the majority of readers are Christian, that the wording be accurate and not offensive to that belief system.
As it had been written, it was very offensive to Christians, referring to God as merely a "supernatural being" and seeming to use deragotory wording toward those that would hold such beliefs.
One must not forget that for Christians, Muslims, and Jews, God is our almighty Lord, not a mere supernatural being. It is insulting to read "spirituality" reduced to mere human emotion.
Further, how can one have an honest discussion of spirituality, and not include the original definitions?
I would hope that Wikipedia genuinely wants to be fair and neutral to everyone, and not hold Christians in disdain. Please allow us to express ourselves as everyone else is allowed to. I don't have time to spend correcting every error on the original article, so in some places, I put a warning that what has been written is not inclusive to every point of view - in particular, (the only religion I can attest to) Christianity.

Ok - I see that you have already switched back things I'd taken much time to write and find documentation for. It doesn't appear that Wikipedia honestly wanted the veiwpoint of all religions. I won't waste my time writing again and I won't check back here again - You can keep your slanted view of spirituality. Although you may not check back for this response, we did indeed hear your concerns. When we write our articles, we devote specific sections to discussion the various religions' definitions of spirituality. By adding Christianity to the general sections, you've actually slanted the entire article towards that religion. Hopefully you'll understand that what you might consider "secular", we consider "neutral" and "fact based". We have our final eight! The best of luck to those who remain. A bumper newsletter this week as we start our home straight.
Pool B's winner was Casliber (submissions). Awarded the top score for featured articles this round, Casliber writes primarily on natural sciences, especially botany and ornithology.
Pool A's close second was Sasata (submissions). Awarded the top score for featured pictures this round, Sasata writes primarily on natural sciences, favouring mycology.
Pool B's close second was ThinkBlue (submissions). Awarded the top score for good articles and topics this round, ThinkBlue primarily writes content related to television and film, including 30 Rock.
The second wildcard was White Shadows (submissions). Someone who has helped the Cup behind the scenes all year, White Shadows said "I'm still in shock that I made it this far" and writes primarily on Naval warfare, especially U-boats.
The third wildcard was Staxringold (submissions). Awarded the top score for featured lists and topics this round, Staxringold primarily writes on sport and television, including baseball and 30 Rock.
The fourth wildcard was William S. Saturn (submissions). Entering the final eight only on the final day of the round, William S. Saturn writes on a number of topics, mostly related to Texas.
We say goodbye to the six who fell at the final hurdle. Geschichte (submissions) only just missed out on a place in the final eight. Resolute (submissions) was not far behind. Candlewicke (submissions) was awarded top points for in the news this round. Gary King (submissions) contributed a variety of did you know articles. Suomi Finland 2009 (submissions) said "I'm surprised to have survived so far into the competition", but was extactic to see Finland in the semi-finals. We are half-way through our final round, entering the home straight. TonyTheTiger (submissions) leads at the time of writing with 1180 points, immediately followed by Sasata (submissions) with 1175 points. Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) closely follows in third place with 1100 points. For those who are interested, data about the finalists has been compiled at Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/finalists, while a list of content submitted by all WikiCup contestants prior to this round has been compiled at Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/Submissions. As ever, anything contestants worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.
Despite controversy, the WikiCup remains open. Did you know... that tenten in Japaense writing are a little wiggly thing, a bit like a quotation-mark, which makes e.g. "ka" (か) into "ga" (が) or "fu" (ふ) into "bu" (ぶ) ?

The 2010 WikiCup is over! It has been a long journey, but what has been achieved is impressive: combined, participants have produced over seventy featured articles, over five hundred good articles, over fifty featured lists, over one thousand one hundred "did you know" entries, in addition to various other pieces of recognised content. A full list (which has yet to be updated to reflect the scores in the final round) can be found here. Perhaps more importantly, we have our winner! The 2010 WikiCup champion is Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), with an unbelievable 4220 points in the final round. Second place goes to TonyTheTiger (submissions), with 2260, and third to Casliber (submissions), with 560. Congratulations to our other four finalists – White Shadows (submissions), William S. Saturn (submissions), Staxringold (submissions) and ThinkBlue (submissions). Also, congratulations to Sasata (submissions), who withdrew from the competition with an impressive 2685 points earlier in this round.
Prizes will also be going to those who claimed the most points for different types of content in a single round. It was decided that the prizes would be awarded for those with the highest in a round, rather than overall, so that the finalists did not have an unfair advantage. Winning the featured article prize is Casliber (submissions), for five featured articles in round 4. Winning the good article prize is Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), for eighty-one good articles in round 5. Winning the featured list prize is Staxringold (submissions), for six featured lists in round 1. Winning the picture and sound award is Jujutacular (submissions), for four featured pictures in round 3. Winning the topic award is Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), for forty-seven articles in various good topics in round 5. Winning the "did you know" award is TonyTheTiger (submissions), for over one hundred did you knows is round 5. Finally, winning the in the news award is Candlewicke (submissions), for nineteen articles in the news in round three.
The WikiCup has faced criticism in the last month – hopefully, we will take something positive from it and create a better contest for next year. Like Wikipedia itself, the Cup is a work in progress, and ideas for how it should work are more than welcome on the WikiCup talk page and on the scoring talk page. Also, people are more than welcome to sign up for next year's competition on the signup page. Well done and thank you to everyone involved – the Cup has been a pleasure to run, and we, as judges, have been proud to be a part of it. Hi Blurpeace, I am a UC Berkeley student trying to improve the quality of an article on "Patentleft," part of the Wikiproject United States Public Policy group. I am a little confused on how to do this and where to start finding sources and information about this topic. Any suggestions you have about this topic in general, where to find sources, and how to edit would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Tpka and welcome to the project! To get better acquainted with editing Wikipedia, try our cheatsheet which can be accessed from the search bar by typing WP:CHEAT. I do not personally know the legal topic you are writing about but am happy to answer questions regarding the nature of Wikipedia (e.g., types of sources, encyclopedic style and policy). I suggest starting in the UC Berkeley library and expanding your search from there. However, some of your questions may be best answered by your professor or another qualified professional. A particular highlight for the wiki crowd will be 'Seductive Subversion: Women Pop Artists, 1958–1968', and the accompanying "WikiPop" project, with specially-created Wikipedia articles on the artists displayed on iPads in the gallery.

Hi, my name is James Fullerton, and I'm a teacher at Southern Lehigh Middle School in PA. Recently I've created a project that involves Wikipedia (WP) and small groups of students making a contribution to a WP article of their choosing, as long as the topic is related to the content of the course - being American Government, Civics, and Economics. For the past 4 weeks, students have become involved in the culture of WP, with many already narrowing in on a topic for their contribution. Would you be available to act as a mentor to a small group of students as they begin to offer additional content to an article of their interest?
