Nomination of Taekwondoscotland for deletion

Done. I have added the best ones I could get from here. I have more reliable sources via on-line subscriptions to scientific journals at work (I teach genetics at a university.) but I can't access them from home. Billtkd (talk) 21:04, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Billtkd, while I appreciate you providing a source for this material, I'm not sure that source counts as a WP:Reliable source; read the WP:Reliable source guideline for what I mean about what Wikipedia considers a reliable source. And for biomedical content in particular, such as chromosomes, the type of sourcing we should use is addressed at Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources (medicine) (WP:MEDRS). The source for the number of genes on the Y chromosome is the US National Centre for Biotechnology Information. The other source (on the number of base pairs) was already cited on the page, in the section headed 'Human Y Chromosome'. I will try to get better sources (primary scientific articles) tomorrow at work. However, the Ensembl Project (the source of the reference) is a legitimate scientific source, set up by organisations such as the European Molecular Biology Organisation. See http://www.ensembl.org/info/about/index.html. In any case, I would classify this as molecular biology, not biomedical, but I may be prejudiced because I am a molecular biologist. Varieties of English

Hello. In a recent edit to the page Caravan (band), you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. The style in which collective nouns are treated as plural (e.g., "the committee are in favour") is not a general UK phenomenon. It is mainly used in England and there mainly in business jargon. Hi Billtkd! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Acne that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thanks, RenatUK. I marked it 'minor edit' because I felt that I wasn't changing the intended meaning (namely, that there is a genetic component to acne), merely improving the syntax.

Thanks for responding. As with most claims that "it doesn't need a source", if it's that self-evident, it doesn't need to be in the article because the reader would already know it. It's an irrelevant comment, and it's based on your personal misunderstanding of a pencil in space flight, which can be found in reliable sources; mechanical pencils were used. I'm not criticizing you. I just try to keep irrelevant cruft bloat off of Wikipeida, especially in an article like this one which is already bloated. So I point it out when I see it.
