You've clearly made some useful edits and have some interest in this encyclopedia project. i am very sorry for what i did. but in my defense, i was going to change it back after a minute or so. i was just gonna look at the changes, laugh and them a little, and immeadietly change them back. Bill cage (talk) 20:05, 21 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't call that a defense, but I'm willing to unblock if you promise not to do that again. Acroterion (talk) 20:13, 21 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

i promise wholeheartedly. thought i must ask. did you change my edit on toy story 4 where i said it was the tenth installment?

Everything else you'd been doing at that time was vandalism, how do I know that wasn't too? Unblocked. Go and sin no more.Acroterion (talk) 11:42, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

It was'nt vandalism, it was the truth. i counted, and there have been ten films in the toy story series. the others were not counted because they shorts or tv specials but in my opinion they should. p.s thank you Bill cage (talk) 11:48, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

You'll need a source from an authoritative list that sorts the shorts and specials, not just according to your count. Acroterion (talk) 11:53, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

fine, i'll just leave it alone Bill cage (talk) 11:54, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Blocked edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abuse of editing privileges.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=i am not responsible for this edit. my account was hacked, and the one responsible has been taken care of. these edits will not happen again, i promise you. ~~~~}}.

You, or somebody using your user ID, proceeded to make the same edit that CLCStudent warned you about, but this time to the article Bill Clinton. Perhaps you don't consider vandalism a good thing, but whoever you have let use your ID seems to enjoy it. -- Hoary (talk) 12:19, 27 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

i did'nt let anyone use it! i have no clue who is is doing this, but i'm trying figure that out, and i can't do that if i'm blocked. Bill cage (talk) 12:47, 27 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

The template says "You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abuse of editing privileges." "You" here includes "whoever is using this user ID". Whoever is using it seems intend on adding irrelevant comments to articles, and needs to be blocked. Have you read Wikipedia:Compromised accounts yet? - Hoary (talk) 07:54, 28 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

yes, but i've dealt with the situation. the person who's been doing this has been blocked from being able to use my account.Bill cage (talk) 10:36, 28 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please read Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks and format your request to be unblocked in the right way. Here's how: {{unblock|reason=XYZ}}, of course (i) not making any attempt to do it in red, and (ii) not writing "XYZ" but instead your reason. Then some administrator other than me will consider it. -- Hoary (talk) 13:08, 28 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

thank you. Bill cage (talk) 13:16, 28 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

unblock reason: i am not responsible for this edit. the one who did this has been taken care of and it shall not happen again

That didn't quite work. If you want to try again, copypaste Hoary's red text as it appears on the saved/published talkpage, and change nothing except switching XYZ for your reason. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:43, 8 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

ok, umm....how do i...copy something? Bill cage (talk) 13:58, 8 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Does copypaste help? How did you do it in the above attempt? You can of course type it by hand as well. Note though, that the "letter" after unblock is a Vertical bar. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:56, 8 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Alright, how about this; unblock me for 10 days. if in those 10 days no vandalism or anything or sort occurs, you must unblock me permanantly. if it does, i will take full responsibility. Bill cage (talk) 13:16, 26 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yamla, so if I understand that correctly, it's ok for this user to follow those instructions and create a new account, "Bill cage2" or whatever? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:11, 26 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
Bill cage, no. WP:COMPROMISED does not permit that. Gråbergs Gråa Sång, the user should discuss that with Hoary, especially given there's been multiple rounds of vandalism from this account. I would have no objections to them creating a new account, though, so long as they follow WP:SOCK. --Yamla (talk) 13:55, 26 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

i can't create a new account. i have things i need to do on this one, i have multiple draft articles that i need to get completed. please i beg of you, unblock this account. i'll do anything it takes to prove this won't ever happen again, if i don't finish those aricles in the next few months, they will get deleted. Bill cage (talk) 14:18, 26 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Making a new account will not prevent you from editing existing drafts, so that is not a problem. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:48, 26 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have now looked deeper into the history of edits from this user. I now believe it is dubious at best that this user's account was compromised, given the vandalism that lead to the indefinite block is largely similar to several earlier instances. That leaves two possibilities. This account was compromised, in which case it went on for months and this user lacks sufficient competence to secure their account, meaning they should not set up another account. Or alternatively, this user was actively attempting to mislead us, in which case we should leave the account blocked. I strongly oppose this user setting up a new account and, as they have indicated this account was compromised, they are not eligible for unblock consideration here. --Yamla (talk) 21:43, 26 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

ok look, the first instance of vandalism all those months ago, was me. i was new to wikipedia and didn't truly understand the depths of how vandalism is punished. but the 2 instances in December WERE NOT ME! i don't know why they used my account, but i know that it won't happen again. obviously, i have no way of proving this, but i beg of you to at least consider this. Bill cage (talk) 05:30, 27 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

So, in the spirit of WP:AGF, I suggest this. Wait a couple more days, and if Hoary (or anyone else) don't voice an objection, follow the directions at WP:COMPROMISED to the letter, curly brackets and all. Then only use the new account and try to avoid being WP:BLOCKed again. You will not have any WP:ROPE for the forseeable future. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:42, 27 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
