Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Altos, Brazil. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Altos, Piauí. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Altos, Piauí – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. --Animalparty-- (talk) 02:24, 9 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:On New River.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 08:42, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Jianghan Hall

I truly would like to see that these articles are notable, but so far it doesn't appear to be so. Is there a book somewhere that describes these places and why they are important? There is a mention of cultural protection sites near these sites. If there is something from a historical preservation agency about these sites, that would be a good start.
So far, though, I am not understanding what makes these sites notable for an article. One of the articles was nominated for deletion and the deletion goes through a review process. The other two On New River and North River Avenue can be run through that same process. Then, others provide their opinions about whether the article should stay or be deleted (in other words, the decision is made by consensus). That may be the way to go if we cannot resolve the questions.--CaroleHenson (talk) 15:06, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion

edit

Sorry to blast you with so many tags... I've been trying to sort out all four articles (On New River, North River Avenue, Wang Hanzhou and Jianghan Hall) and the detective work has been contagious. It seems that there are issues with notability for the separate articles, but I'm wondering if the Jianye District article could be expanded to provide more information about the cultural influences from the Qing Dynasty and earlier dynasties. It would likely be much easier to find reliable sources and perhaps link into what I think your underlying point is about the historical significance of the area. It seems information about the "New River", which I'm guessing is one or more of the canals or channels, would be interesting, too - again, with good sources and clear identification of what body of water we'd be talking about.

I'll hunt around a bit taking that tack and see what I can come up with. Any suggestions or thoughts about that approach?--CaroleHenson (talk) 18:07, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Jianghan Hall. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited On New River, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages New River, Warm and Prosperous (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Timeline of Google Street View. Please don't remove maintenance tags. Jiangxin Island

edit

Hi there,

You've inspired me to work on more Nanjing articles, which has been fun - like I've been visiting the Temple of Confucius, Nanjing and other articles. Today, I created a new one Jiangxin Island.

I've been doing searches and using http://map.baidu.com/ and google maps for the island to try to identify notable places.

It may serve as an example of the types of sources we've been talking about... (although I have a question about some I posted on Talk:Jiangxin Island.)

But it would be interesting to know if you know of something that's notable about the island, now or historically, that's not in the article now that is remarkable should be researched for good sources. If so, it would be good to hear from you!--CaroleHenson (talk) 02:02, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Barisal District

edit

Good job finding a reliable source for the Barisal District. It was reverted by another user because the source did not say that Barisal was the "headquarters" of Barisal District, which is mentioned here. This source is now added to the article.

Even so, it was a good step forward in finding good sources.--CaroleHenson (talk) 14:51, 14 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Basaltic site, Xuanwu Lake

edit

Although Basaltic Lake Park is not the name of a place in Nanjing, there is a basaltic (volcanic) site in Xuanwu Lake, so a redirect was established... and I added some information about the basaltic site to the Xuanwu Lake article.

I don't know if you're working on articles for the Chinese version of Wikipedia, but if so, I would be happy to take a look at what you've successfully posted there and make an English version article. Xianlin

edit

Xianlin was a good topic, which is the first and best step to creating a new article. Good job! I thought I'd add a couple of points here, hoping you find them helpful.

Item Comment Good approach
Topic Xianlin University City is a good topic: it's a notable subject, easy to find good sources, and it's on the map Yes
Title Xianlin was an incomplete title, based upon google searches and the map, the title of the area is Xianlin University City. Xianlin University Town is used sometimes, which is pretty much the same thing. Renamed to Xianlin University City
Content Most of the content was unreadable and from poor sources The content needed to be rewritten
Sources http://baike.baidu.com/ is not a reliable source, which has been explained several times No
https://zh.wikipedia.org/ cannot be a source, it's a circular reference and not a "reliable source" by definition. No
Sources from https://zh.wikipedia.org/ article. If, though, there were sources on this page that were reliable sources, those could be used in the article. In this case, (https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%BB%99%E6%9E%97%E5%A4%A7%E5%AD%A6%E5%9F%8E) there were no sources used, just posting of external links No inline sources that tied to the article content

There are a lot of tags for articles you've started, so I thought I'd summarize how things are looking:

Deletion discussion about Xianlin Avenue

edit

Hello, Bearjsnj,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Xianlin Avenue should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Xianlin Avenue .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, FriendlyCaribou (talk) 11:12, 19 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Another breakdown, this time Xianlin Avenue

Item Comment Good approach
Topic Xianlin Avenue's notability isn't clear and it's rare to have articles just about streets, unless there's some historical, cultural or other impacts that are significant. An example is Fifth Avenue. Since there's no content in the article to state it's importance, it has been nominated for deletion. Do you have more information to prove its importance? ?
Title Good
Content It needs a little copyediting
Sources A better job with reliable sources Yes
