Licensing of images of yours

edit

Dear Splash Sorry about that! As requested, I changed the copyright status on this image to public domain so that it corresponds to wikipedia requirements. Thanks for explaining to me how to display images correctly. I hope you enjoy the images. I am very proud of them.

Bcastel3

Hello, Bcastel3. The images you uploaded, which you say you are the creator of, were licensed only for educational or non-commercial use. Unfortunately, as Wikipedia's content can be re-used by anyone for any purpose, this kind of licensing will result in the images being deleted. If you could revisit the images and consider licensing them differently, that would be great. See Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#For_image_creators for your options. The ones currently tagged for imminent deletion are:

Many thanks, Splash - tk 23:38, 19 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Merger of article

edit

Hello, Bcastel3. The article Sociology and complexity science is still in need of some work and I will be doing editing work to merge it with the article Social complexity. I have placed a 'merger' tag on the article. You may also want to join the discussion at Talk:Social_complexity#Article_merger, where I've already placed some thoughts on the matter. Meclee (talk) 22:17, 4 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Bcastel3. Social_complexity is now a 'final draft' ready for discussion before the final merger and re-direct from Sociology_and_complexity_science. I'll wait awhile for any comments and additions you may have before executing a re-direct. Meclee (talk) 14:27, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and thanks!

Conflict of interest policy

edit

  Hello, Bcastel3. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. --Ronz (talk) 04:04, 9 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Notification of automated file description generation

edit

Your upload of File:Complexity-map-overview.png or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Orphaned non-free image File:2018 Map of the Complexity Sciences.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:2018 Map of the Complexity Sciences.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 13:16, 4 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the note. An earlier version of the map is used on the article "Complex System." Colleagues asked me if I would provide the updated version I recently created for 2018. As such, I have uploaded the current image. Hope that make sense.

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Bcastel3. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 19:06, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Legend-complexity-map.jpg

edit

The file File:Legend-complexity-map.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

orphaned image, image of text that can be added as text if needed, no encyclopedic use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:03, 4 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
