Concerning Proper Referencing

No, I do not believe that you made a mistake by removing my changes to the Ocarina page. You are correct in the fact that I did not properly reference any of the information I added. This is because there are not many books on the ocarina, and perhaps only one or two actually concerning its history. There also aren't any Internet articles that can be very much relied upon (such as the citations for ocarinaforest.com, a site that has been created by a somewhat knowledgeable but rather uninformed individual). The information I had posted was obtained from years of experience and study - I'd like to point out that I more than doubled the section on the ocarina's history. As I will not cite myself as a source, it seems that you've got me beat. While I can personally guarantee that the information was all true, that won't count for proper verification. In all honesty, I was just trying to be helpful and perhaps correct some misguided notions. But I will not attempt it again. If you and this site are willing to pass up the information I've offered, then it's your loss. I understand your concerns over information that has not been cited properly. For all you know, I could be a crazy person who made all that up. And, though I might tell you it was true, there is no way to definitively convince you otherwise. I might have spent my entire night on that page. I might have been proud of the wrongs I had righted. I might have been disappointed when I checked my email this morning. But I understand and accept your decision (despite being somewhat of a disservice to anyone interested in the ocarina). No hard feelings. I haven't found a general sports infobox to show medalists for both men and women, but {{Infobox Skating event}} can do it and doesn't actually say anything about skating so it works for other sports. Tom Danielson

You evidently removed my reference to (recently dismissed for a second drug offense) professional cyclist Tom Danielson's page. The content pointed out that Tom is both married and has a girlfriend named Kourtney Kompton. I'd like it if you replaced that content along with this video reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXxvdhE1zFc It is an interview where he PUBLICLY STATES that he has a girlfriend named Kourtney! Why do I care about this so much? Not that it matters for accurate content policing, but I really dislike this guy for a number of reasons and I take great pleasure in seeing him suffer what I hope is great public humiliation. Unfortunately, in this case, facts need to be supported by a reliable reference. The Youtube video referenced above is not a reliable source in this case, particularly for the text that I removed: "Danielson has a girlfriend named Kourtney Compton, whom he met in Utah where she was working as a podium girl at the Tour of Utah". The video only indicates a girlfriend named "Kourtney." Too many assumptions made when solely basing it on that 1 Youtube video. Barkeep^Chat/_$ 04:37, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Nebraska colors

Triathlon competitions

is not a catagory where you dump yearly results of multiple individual competitions

These were not multiple individual competitions listed on one page. These 3 articles are single, stand-alone triathlon events, i.e. triathlon competitions. Please discuss on talk page before removing again. Barkeep^Chat/_$ 13:59, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

Well the 2011 ITU Sprint distance and the 2012 ITU sprint distance events belong to a catagory that collects ALL the yearly eventys of that SPECIFIC competition. That's how categories work on Wikipedia. —Loginnigol (talk) 15:44, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

Can you reference a Wikipedia policy on this? I personally disagree, particularly in how it relates to triathlon. These are individual triathlon competition that are fit to be labeled with the category "Triathlon competitions." These competitions belong in either Category:Triathlon competitions or (better) one of its subcategories. You could easily have set up appropriate new subcategories yourself, and entered those cats in place of Category:Triathlon competitions on the individual races. That would have taken less time than you have spent of your own time, my time, and Barkeep's, and in reverting and discussing on talk pages. Incidentally, you failed to spell "category" correctly above, and failed to sign your first post in this section. You also said above, in a templated warning, that Barkeep edited "Category:Triathlon competitions", when he had made no such edit to the category, although he had categorised some pages there. (Note also that I normally don't remark on other editors' faults, but if you accuse other editors of faults, then you can expect to have your own pointed out.) --NSH001 (talk) 16:21, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

August 2016

Regarding the edits undone on the 2016 Nebraska Cornhuskers football team page, why are the edits not allowed to stay? I don't understand why multiple links not allowed within an article. To me it is more confusing if you see something you want information on (i.e. Lincoln, NE) to have to scroll back to the top of the page to find a link for it.wscsuperfan^Chat 20:00, 8 August 2016 (UTC)

Read the WP:OLINK policy. Generally speaking, I agree that if the link was on a topic that a typical reader would need understanding on to further understand the article they are reading and the links were in different areas of a large article multiple links would improve the reader experience. In regards to your specific edits, you are adding repetitive links in the schedule table that are either to Lincoln, Nebraska or the TV network the game is scheduled to appear on. These links are all contained in the 14 line table and one link to the BTN (for example) is sufficient and navigable for the typical reader. Note that Lincoln has four links already included throughout the article. If you disagree with my interpretation of Wikipedia's policy I again encourage you to discuss it on the article's talk page so that more community members can weigh in.
