Aramaic Revival

Aramaic language revival refers to the overall phenomenon of revival of Aramaean identity among various Aramaic-speaking groups and people. More specifically, this refers the most recent of this development which appeared in the early 21st century. This was the direct consequence of the fall of baath regime in 2003 which was famous for its arabization of non-arab minorities in the north of the country. The rise of the extremist ISIS in the years 2014-2015 which had as its goal eradication of all non-Islamic identities, including Christian Aramaic-speakers, help raise awareness regarding the history and unique culture of these groups.
