Proposed deletion of Drossbox

edit

The article Drossbox has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable neologism. No indications that this term is used for this purpose by anyone other than the article's author. No prejudice against recreating the article to describe the industrial terminology meaning a box used to collect machining waste.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. March 2023

edit

Hello, I'm Riverbend21. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Fairy Investigation Society have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Riverbend21 (talk) 18:30, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please define "constructive". The current members and their work seem directly relevant to the page. The FIS exists and is active. Amethina (talk) 19:00, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Amethina, please use sentence-case for section headings, and don't add external URLs to the body. External URLs only belong in the article between ref tags or in a special External links section at the very end of the article. You can learn more at Wikipedia's manual of style. I will try to fix this to your specifications but can you please stop editing the actual website? The one listed at the bottom is incorrect. It would be helpful if instead of simply undoing the changes so that they have to be redone from scratch, you could instead put them where they should properly go. I've fixed the official website external link by updating it to the archive-url for their site. The url you had changed it to is not the same organization that the article is about. Schazjmd (talk) 21:42, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hello schazjmd - I wanted to start getting some updates here on this page but would really like to work with you so it is done properly. I think when you say "the url I changed" you mean the Fairyist.com? If so, that is the current website we use for the FIS, owned and maintained by the present head of the FIS, Simon Young.
While much of the FIS is private, I have a current roster of members that are OK with their names being publicly included. Can we get that up there?
TY for your help thus far, I hope to be able to expand this page! Amethina (talk) 02:16, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi Amethina. The problem I see is that the "new" Fairy Investigation Society has no connection to the historical society that the article is about, other than the name. From their page: In 2013, the writers of this website decided to relaunch the FIS: it is our great regret that no member of the old FIS has yet been found. The historical FIS is notable; the new FIS is not. If you can find an independent reliable source that discusses the new FIS in connection with the historical FIS, we can consider adding a mention of it in the article.
No, a list of members of the new FIS is not appropriate for the article. Schazjmd (talk) 14:49, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
