Jack Killed Jill - band wiki page deleted

Hey Alex,

Recently, our page on wiki was deleted. I read your whole page on speedy deletions and I don't think we're in violation of anything. We are definitely a notable punk band, but perhaps we didn't make it very clear on our page. You can see here, that we're listed as one of the "List of musicians in the second wave of punk music":

List_of_musicians_in_the_second_wave_of_punk_music

We've released several albums signed by New Red Archives, and Geykido Comet Records and have global distribution. You can find our CDs at Virgin records, Tower records etc. Most notably, we've performed support acts with Green Day, TSOL, MDC, and Agent Orange to name a few. We've been around for over 15 years with 1,000s of performances under our belt and are still active in the music scene. Just do a search in Google for "Jack Killed Jill" and you'll see how widely known and reputable we are.

We also are referenced on these pages

We'd deeply appreciate a reconsideration for our WIKI page, and if it's not up to par, please indicate what we should add to the page to make it more notable. It's very possible, that we never put much time into the page itself, but we'd like very much to do what we can to get it back up.

Thanks for your consideration.

oh yeah our band page was: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Killed_Jill

Thanks for your note Revik. If you had an account, I could userfy the page for you to work on. Having references on other Wikipedia pages does not mean much, as those references are snot really proper sources. What counts is to show notability under the music rules. Another issue to consider is your involvement with the band which could be an issue. Please read those rules and if you want the page userfied, I'll do it. -- Alexf(talk) 18:20, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey Alex,

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you. Just finished up a show with Agent Orange in Berkeley and things are hectic. You can just do a Google search for "jack killed jill" and you'll see how notable we are. I thought you were looking for other wiki pages to show notability, but we're well known all over the internet. I'm the singer of the band and the original band member. We have clout. Ask anyone involved in the punk scene. I'm really not too good with wiki pages. A simple Google search should give you all the info you need to reconsider the deletion of this notable band's wiki page. I'll try to set up a user account and give you the user name asap.

Thank you, 67.113.13.105 (talk) 16:34, 24 July 2009 (UTC) Revik

p.s. you can also search my name on Google "Revik Delfin" for more info. p.s.s. Just created the wiki user account: jackkilledjill —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jackkilledjill (talkcontribs) 16:41, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Delted page (NUSHI band article)

Hi Alex,

I'm leaving a note because an article I created about my band "NUSHI" was deleted. This is my first time working with Wikipedia, so I might have had a few misunderstandings regarding your guidelines and requirements.

I have done some reading on the matter and if I understand correctly, in order to have a page about my band here I need to establish notability by providing links to external sources that have independently mentioned my band. I placed these links in the references section of my page. While my band is relatively new to the public eye, we have recently been associated with performing benefit concerts for the Canadian Red Cross. This event received media attention in the local press. Here are the links to these magazine articles....

I hope that you will reconsider the deletion of my band page. If these current sources are not satisfying to you, then I assure you that there will be more mention of my band in the coming months, and I will be back on Wikipedia with the intention of trying to make an article for my band again. I will keep trying until I succeed. Hopefully this is not in violation of Wikpedia's rules and regulations.

here is the redlink to my deleted page:

Thank you so much for your time, Jeebs Jeebs81 (talk) 18:25, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Jeebs, it is not for me to decide but to the community of editors. I just happened to be the Admin working CSD duty at the moment. Your article was deleted because it did not comply with WP:MUSIC. Please read that page to understand more fully what is required. The links you provided only mention the name as having had a gig. Not enough to pass requirements. Also you just admitted to a conflict of interest, which makes it and issue if you could write an article about your band from a neutral point of view. You are welcome to try again when you have a seasoned band that is subject to serious coverage as indicated in WP:MUSIC but it would be nice if you could write about something else that interests you and doesn't imply a conflict of interest. We culd always use new good editors. -- Alexf(talk) 20:12, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Talk:Nano (Star Trek)

I reverted your deletion of Talk:Nano (Star Trek) as the speedy was just declined by another admin before you deleted - The talkpage was still in use tagging the redirect for the project. Agathoclea (talk) 20:59, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

OK. No prob. -- Alexf(talk) 21:53, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Speedy delete feedback

Alexf,

Edinburgh Quay was the first article I nom'd for speedy after doing my first bit of NPP. I'd be grateful if you could let me know if the criteria itself was suitable or the fact that I put a <!--comment--> on it helped. Also, I didn't comment on the talk page of the user who created it and would like to go and welcome them, can you let me know who it was please? I'll watch your page for a response. Cheers, Bigger digger (talk) 12:12, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

It was fine. No need to add a comment as the tag was clear enough. The editor was User:The navvi and yes, you should always inform them of a CSD tag. There is a ready-made link in the tag itself for you to use. Cheers! -- Alexf(talk) 13:37, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
I guess I wasn't sure how "strong" the definition of vandalism was and just wanted to make sure I got it right. I'll go welcome them, thanks, and have a good holiday! Bigger digger (talk) 18:27, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Canine Partner deleted 4 June

Hello Alexf,

I did not write the article on "Canine Partner" but can write a comprehensive piece as seems fair as part of Assistant Dogs UK with Guide Dogs and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf that ARE listed; so should Canine Partners (for Independance) who train dogs for people with disabilities registered in the UK 20 years ago. www.caninepartners.co.uk

Deletion of Page relating to Kathryn White

Can you please restore the page for Kathryn White, the English Children's Author.

Kathryn has published over twenty Children's stories here in the UK, and in 2006 her title "Here Comes the Crocodile" was shortlisted for two prestigous awards, The Sheffield Children's Book Award and the Nottingham Children's Book Award. Kathryn is also a regular contributor to the major literary festivals in the UK and will be appearing at the Edinburgh Festival for the second time in August this year.

Kathryn was originally referenced by one of her illustrators, Cliff Wright - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cliff_Wright and this prompted her family to try to create a Wikipedia page to chronicle Kathryn's achievements. In this we were able to enlist the kind help of the seasoned Wikipedia contributor Pradiptaray - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Pradiptaray

Apologies if in some way we have failed to follow the Wikipedia rules for external references. Most of Kathryn's publications were listed on her page, but perhaps more links were needed?

Kathryn is an active member of several Authors Societies here in the UK, including the Society of Authors and the Scattered Authors Society, and was featured on the list of British Children's Authors.

I have looked into the notability guidelines, which say in relation to authors -

Authors What authors get their own articles? Probably almost all non-self-published authors, per bio guidelines that specify Published authors, editors, and photographers who have written books with an audience of 5,000 or more or in periodicals with a circulation of 5,000 or more

And Kathryn clearly satisfies these criteria. Here Comes the Crocodile alone sold over 25,000 copies worldwide, and kathryn's first book, When They Fight, was published in a dozen languages across the globe, from Japanese and Korean in the East to Danish and Finish in the West. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.86.56.65 (talk) 19:59, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Can you please restore this page so that we can continue the process of developing the content and links.

With thanks in anticipation

Dave, you may have a point but why make it hard for us to find articles by not providing a red link as requested? I did take the time and found it. The article was PRODded and given time, but nobody tried to save it. I would be willing to userfy it for you to work on and bring it up to requirements, if you create and account. -- Alexf(talk) 21:24, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

19 Entertainment

Hi Alexf,

A few weeks ago you deleted the 19 Entertainment article as "Unambiguous advertising or promotion". It looks like the article had existed since 2005 or earlier, and at some time had been expanded with material that was promotional in tone. I think that the information there was useful, and the content could be cleaned up to make it more neutral, so would it be possible for it to be restored? Chadderton (talk) 21:07, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Please look into Born Of Osiris' page. Thank you!.

Hey this is my first time doing this so please excuse the newbish feel...

I Recently Have noticed that the chicago based bandBorn of Osiris page on Wikipedia has been Deleted. All the other Bands that fall in the same music genre are still here. In Fact this Band Is in the fore front of this music genre scene. Born Of Osiris is making headway with major music magazines and their First album has been out since 2007 and broke ground in the Technical Deathcore scene.

Their new album, A Higher Place, comes out july 7, 2009... and may I add with much anticipation from the music community.

I dont see how there may have been an issue with legality with the band as many other bands signed to Sumerian Records have their wikipedia pages up and updated. I suspect it was flagged by a reader that has some form of hate for the Band.

Would you please look into what happened? i read all the info that was given on the page but cant see any real reason why it was deleted. Thanks for your time (Dirtrunner21 (talk) 21:21, 15 June 2009 (UTC))

If you could provide a red link as requested it would be very helpful to try and find the article in question. There is no issue with "legality" as you say. Issues are with notability and in this case notability for music groups specifically. Does the group meet any of those requirements and can you prove it by providing reliable sources? Lastly, Wikipedia does not care that other bands have articles. That has no bearing on the article for this group that must live on its own merits. -- Alexf(talk) 21:34, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Alexf. Any tips on how to get the User page back in the Encyclopedia in short order?

Pap.deblanc (talk) 07:36, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

You could create a new article and copy over, or you could move it to article space, keeping the current history. Once you think it is correct and may stand a challenge, you can do it, then if you want your subpage deleted, just place a {{db-u1}} tag on it and an Admin will come by and take care of it. -- Alexf(talk) 07:42, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

my article deleted

Hi, my article on musician Tomáš Klus was deleted. I think its because it wasn't thought to be important or significant enough, or because the artist I wrote about wasn't well known enough to feature on wikipedia. I have to disagree. Tomas Klus is still young and his music portfolio is perhaps not as large as other musicians but he is fast becoming a household name within the Czech Republic. He released his first album in 2008 and it was very popular. The tracks from the album have been posted on youtube and they have got between 50 to 100 thousand views. One of his songs called 'Navěky' has over half a million views on youtube, I would say that is quite popular. If you don't believe me check it out yourself. I don't know what else to do to or write to convince you that the article is worthy of featuring on wikipedia. Just type Tomáš Klus into google and you will see. In the meantime is there a chance that my article be returned? FilipBujnoch (talk) 23:07, 6 July 2009 (UTC) FilipBujnoch 6/07/2009

The article was deleted because notability was not asserted under WP:MUSIC, not because "it wasn't thought to be important or significant enough, or because the artist I wrote about wasn't well known enough to feature on wikipedia". Please read the guidelines and requirements in that page and if you think you can supply enough reliable sources to pass WP:MUSIC requirements, I'd be happy to userfy the article for you to work on. -- Alexf(talk) 23:14, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Tomas Klus article notabiliy

Hi alex, I see what you mean about the notability. The guy is fairly new which means finding sources to confirm his notability difficult. one point says "Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film". Well Tomas Klus has done music for a Czech film called Anglicke jahody (English Strawberries) which was released in 2008 and reviewed at the Cannes and Berlin Film Festivals. Here is a link to a newspaper article [1]. Also you will notice his name at the bottom of this article relating to the film, listed for the film's music (he is listed right after editor Boris Machytka whose name is highlighted). This is the link [2]. He also won the Czech Talent Zlin competition in 2007 but I don't know if the competition is major enough to be considered. Here is the link anyway [3]. Beside all this a few of his singles have been circulating on the czech radio, look at this link, begining of second paragraph it mentions one of his singles is on the radio [4]...The translation is not the best but you can get the general jist. Sorry I couldn't really find any english articles but like I said, he is mostly known in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Hope this will be enough for you to consider bringing the article back. FilipBujnoch (talk) 00:44, 7 July 2009 (UTC) FilipBujnoch 7/07/2009

Restored. It's up to you to show notability in the article, else it will be challenged again by some editor. -- Alexf(talk) 11:08, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Your assistance please...

The record indicates you deleted the article on Wazir Arsala Khan. The record says you noted A7 as the reason for the deletion.

As a former foreign minister I would have thought no further assertion of notability was required. I am surprised that no one pointed this out when the deletion of this article was discussed. [5]

So I would appreciate you directing my attention to the place where the deletion of this article was discussed.

Thanks! Geo Swan (talk) 02:44, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Not this article. All it had was one sentence: "Related to Mr. Tawab jan, famous Afghan soccer player renowned for his play in the Cholebob Premier League.". -- Alexf(talk) 11:03, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

CABAL rapper from Brazil

Why did you delete the page?

http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabal —Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.37.71.168 (talk) 09:27, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

For the stated reason: "A7: No indication that the article may meet guidelines for inclusion". The article was a one sentence article. No references, no reliable sources. Pointing to an article in Portuguese WP does not help the English WP. If the article in Portuguese passes the notability rules there, that's great. The one-sentence article here did not pass notability requirements for musicians and performers. Go ahead and write a proper article, or translate the one from PT. Also, it would always be helpful, when communicating with editors and admins to follow the rules and guidelines. Specifically the part on top about giving a redlink to the article you are referring to. Signing your posts in Talk, is also proper procedure. And asking nicely gets you better and faster service. Your abrupt, unsigned, anonymous comment, almost deserved no response. Have a nice day. -- Alexf(talk) 16:21, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Response - Sockpuppetry

Hi there ALEX, VASCO from Portugal here,

Regarding your message, i'll only say the following: Bruninho chose to edit at EN.WIKI even though he has very little knowledge of English, i did not force him to choose at which WIKI to edit in. As he has had several quarrels with several other editors on his sole field of editing, football, i often tried to lend a hand, and so write in his/my mother tongue, as simple as that.

For more details/confirmation of this message, please check this investigation, and also address to User:PeeJay2K3, User:JonBroxton and user/admin User:EdJohnston. Either way, i'll post another (more thorough i hope) message to BRUNINHO.

All for the moment, have a nice weekend,

VASCO AMARAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 00:46, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Cheers again ALEX, left this for BRUNINHO/MAURICY,

Oi BRUNINHO, VASCO aqui,

VASCO AMARAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 00:57, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

P.S. I apologize for not providing an English translation, but since you know my language, i would only like to know for the moment if you think it's sufficient a warning about his "status quo".

Attentively, VASCO - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 00:57, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

HELP!!!

Hey there ALEX, VASCO again,

I would like to ask a small favour: could you please protect Tonel's page? It has been subjected to continuous anon editing without the slightest source added, citing he will move to another club (Glasgow Rangers F.C.), when i am Portuguese and follow soccer on a regular basis and it is completely untrue?

Thinking of our latest topic of discussion, i also message you to avoid that any of my further behaviours could be viewed as edit warring.

Attentively, VASCO AMARAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 01:13, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Done. Next time you should try RFPP for faster service. -- Alexf(talk) 13:51, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Hey ALEX, thank you very muchX2 (for the protection and the RFPP tip). Now, for two unrelated matters:

1 - User BRUNINHO/MAURICY, even though i told him i would never harm in the form of a block/complaint and explained what was going on "against" him, has been totally unresponsive to my last two messages, really am beginning to run out of ways to work with him.

2 - I would like your opinion on this: there is a vandal called Pararubbas, whom opened other 14 (if i am correct) sock accounts, where he proceeded to the following: remove links, references, glue all sentences in story (i mean ALL!), amongst other charmers. Every time i reported him, everytime he was blocked permanent, unwilling to engage in any talkpage conversation or write a single edit summary (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Pararubbas/Archive). I admit i was sometimes grossly out of line in some of my messages to him, i apologize, have since stopped that behavior, it was majorly done out of frustration which came from "talking to a wall".

I was greatly assisted in this matter by user/admin Ed Johnston, and here is where my request to you comes in: Ed is taken a well-deserved wikibreak, and now i turn to you, hoping to clear some doubts. Not that i don't trust Ed, all the opposite, but i don't want to bother him, and some stuff is not very clear, at all...

This vandal PARARUBBAS (nothing short of that) has, to my knowledge (i edit WP almost daily, but don't have a watchlist), not opened a new sock account, but continues to "contribute" anonymously (from England) and remove lots of information he is not supposed, as he also continues to screwup club links (i.e. club link is S.C. Braga, hidden in the form of SC Braga for compression purposes, but he removes it just because and writes the link SC Braga - ah, this said, he operates 99,99999% on Portuguese football).

Ed told me once anon IPs could be blocked, even having done so with 92.0.145.142 (blocked http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:92.0.145.142), but then also told me that, even though IP can be blocked, there is no use to block hopping IPs, as they are often only used once. Please refresh my memory, what can be done? This situation has been dragging out for more than one year, really tiresome.

Ty very much for "listening", sorry for any incovenience, have a nice weekend,

VASCO AMARAL, Portugal - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 18:43, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Issue resolved (?)

Hi ALEX, VASCO again,

Per Bruninho's request, i now add the (translated) message he sent to my talk page, in its totality (also per request):

"Hey VASCO, BRUNO here.

First, sorry i took so long to reply. I know you want to help and i acknowledge. It happens these last few days have been really hectic for me; you can also see i have edited very little during that time.

I see there are some editors "in your case". My god, these fellows are pushy, everything has to be their way. It looks as if it's some kind of "society", where everything is pre-arranged and you can't get in and change stuff.

Honestly, i have given up arguing about the FC/no FC discussion. It will stay that way, some players with FC, some without. Everything will be a mess, but since it's what they want...

Another thing: i am not User:Mauricy nor somebody else. So tell them to stop the investigations and everything else. I am minding my business now, have been editing very little this last days (as opposed to them, i have a social life: work, girl, friends, etc...). Therefore, it article changes come about, it will not be me...

Please note well, i am ASSURING i will not change it more. I don't want any trouble, only for them to stop threatening and harassing me. If they leave me be, i won't disturb anyone.

I would like for you to write all that for them (preferably the entire text). And sorry again for putting you in the mix.

BRUNINHO"

Attentively, VASCO AMARAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 18:54, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Sorry to have bothered you (that's what i deduce from your silence, especially when my messages included a question on technicalities - IP stuff), won't happen again.

--NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 18:16, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

No bother Vasco. Simply I am too busy and my Wikipedia time has been reduced for the last few months. I'll get back to things when I have more time. As per your message, there is no need to post Bruninho's message everywhere. He can post in his Talk page and in his sockpuppet case. -- Alexf(talk) 19:02, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Pyramid (sport)

Please note that in a more recent discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cylon War, the consensus closed to keep this article, i.e. overturning the earlier discussion. Please therefore undelete per the more recent discussion. Thank you. Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 20:41, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

I respectfully disagree. There was barely consensus. The deleting admin even noted that "This closure made from a somewhat procedural standpoint; batch nominations should be used sparingly, and in this case each article needs to be judged individually."
Having looked again at this article (have not looked at any of the other ones which have no relevance here anyway), I stand by it on the grounds that this particular article does not have any references, nor evidence of notability whatsoever. If you care to add enough proof of notability from reliable sources I might userfy it for you, but as-is, it does not have any grounds for undeletion. -- Alexf(talk) 22:31, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
It can indeed be verified by published books, such as here, which can be used in a development section to note the difference from the original to the reimagined series. Moreover, An analytical guide to television's Battlestar Galactica by John Kenneth Muir discusses " the complex rules of Pyramid"; and Cylons in America: Critical Studies in Battlestar Galactica‎ includes an essay titled "Pyramid, Boxing, and Sex" by Kevin Wetmore Jr. Finally, the game does not only appear in the TV show, but also in the novelizations. So, we have information on the development, a scholarly analysis of the game, and another sign of notability (an aspect of a major TV show that also appears in another form of media, i.e. a novelization rather than just being a one episode feature or something). Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 21:34, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Alexf! - I have read the speedy deletion page and don't really see why my article is gone, it is a non-profit, notable campaign which does enormous good and would enable visitors to learn more about the importance of dental health for animals.

This is the first article I have written, so apologies. With some feedback would it be possible to amend the article so that it is acceptable?

Greetings PetSmile (talk) 10:08, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

The article was pure, unadulterated advertising, complete with a link to the company's website, and no references wahtsoever. Non-profit or not, does not matter, advertising is strictly prohibited. If you are unfamiliar with the rules, I would suggest you read the Five Pillars of Wikipedia. Also, it might help to read Your First Article. To understand about advertising, please read our rules about spam and finally to enter an article about a company, it must pass the notability rules for companies. Lastly, on another matter, your username also runs afoul of our user naming rules as it is the same name of the company you promote. Please read the naming rules, and act upon it, lest your user account be blocked and you'll have to choose a different user name. Sorry to throw so many rules at you. I know it might be daunting at first, but I hope you understand the need for order and rules into what is acceptable in a serious encyclopedia. Hope this helps. -- Alexf(talk) 11:23, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the help, I think after reading the links you suggest it is not really suitable to add the project. I thought it might have been useful to add but can see clearly now why it isn't. I will sort out the username. Thanks again for your advice. PetSmile (talk) 14:55, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of my content

hello alexf...

heres your haiku:

I've read your comments

My contribution was good

please return it soon.

So, I have read your comments on deletion. You have deleted my contribution on Wing woman. I contest this (nicely). There is no definition for Wing Woman / Wingwoman on Wikipedia and there should be. I use Wikipedia for nearly everything I want to learn more about and wanting to find a verbal reference to quickly explain what I do, and was surprised there is no explanation here. While Wing Woman is a relatively niche field, it is not obscure and I can only guess that you have deleted other entries on the basis of unambiguious advertising. While I realise Wikipedia is not an advertising platform, expecting people to contribute on the basis of pure altruism (without credit) is unfair. I have taken the time to write the content and my links do actually further support the explanation. I do answer the question properly and completely. At the very least I would ask that the definition remain if you want to remove my links fine.

Sorry I can't find the red link to it - I don't know how to find it. thank you (nicely)

Adriana Adrianacompanion (talk) 20:14, 25 July 2009 (UTC) Adrianacompanion (talk) 20:10, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry to disappoint you. The article read like advertisement, which is strictly prohibited. It showed only two links and no references to assert notability. Of the two links, one was to Facebook which is not a reliable source, the other to your own site, which strengthens the case for advertising. As per your comment that "..expecting people to contribute on the basis of pure altruism (without credit) is unfair", I am sorry to disappoint you again but that is the way of Wikipedia. -- Alexf(talk) 20:37, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

If that's the Way" then please can you somehow at least return my content. This is a job and there is no explanation of it on wikipedia. It is a modern niche field of work (uncommon and specialized yes, but that's why there needs to be a formal definition out there). The only other references are also small individuals all over the world just like myself. I am sorry I am not a wiki-expert to be able to follow your rules any better than I have. It seems against what normal people (like myself) use Wikipedia for - that is to find out answers and definitions.

If you refuse to replace my content, PLEASE can you GIVE ME BACK MY CONTENT so I can publish it else where ( it took me a long time to write that). I did not expect it to be deleted. It was deleted almost immediately and I had no chance to save a copy.

THANK YOU Adrianacompanion (talk) 17:19, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

I userfied the content for you at User:Adrianacompanion/Wingwoman. I deleted the email address to keep it out for privacy reasons. It is generally not a good idea to mention your email addy in public places unless you love robot spam. -- Alexf(talk) 17:31, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Jonathan Dos Santos Ramírez‎

Has been created two minutes after it's deletion. Any chance of a creation block on Jonathan Dos Santos Ramírez‎ / Jonathan Dos Santos / Jonathan dos Santos ? Cheers, --Jimbo[online] 15:16, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Deleted again. User warned. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 15:20, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Roboforge - Wiki page deleted

Hey Alexf,

You recently deleted Roboforge wiki page. Here attached the Red link Roboforge.

That was my fist wiki page, so probably I didn't comply fully with Wiki requirements.

Frankly speaking I can't see any difference between my page and other pages of similar games.

Could You tell me what was wrong?

Thanks in advance for your attention

As the deletion notice said, no indication of notability. Had no reliable sources. Info from other pages is not relevant to an article, as it must live on its own merits. -- Alexf(talk) 15:52, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I hate to do this but could You please so kind to compare the basis of my page and "Robocode" page? I can't see better notability or reliable sources. Fredd67 (talk) 16:30, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Fredd67

I took a quick look at the page. Although it is more complex and fleshed out, you seem to be correct that it is thin in sourcing. It might need tags to require sources, or enter the deletion request process. I'll do a longer read later with more time. -- Alexf(talk) 17:36, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks again for you courtesy and patience. Please note I never meant to become a "spy". Robocode people seems to work hard on their pages since far 2003. So please don't enter the deletion request process for Robocode (if you are thinking about it). This wasn't absolutely my target. I just wish to remark that both Wiki topics (Robocode and Roboforge) are description of opensourced games which requires creation of evoluted programs (robot are basically a mix of hardware and software). So basically (for me) there's not much possibility to find reliable sources (I can't say nothing for Robocode people, surely they are better than me in finding sources). The main point is that both have (for me) interesting and rilevant aspects which deserve to be described (strategy/optimisation/etc..). This is (for me) a clear indication of notability. If I didn't clarify it enough, please let me go ahead in developing of Wiki page. I'll try to explain better this concept.

Just think for a while they are a modern version of chess, if I create now a game like chess who could give me reliable sources? But this doesn't mean that such game has no indication of notability. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fredd67 (talkcontribs) 18:55, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Actually, yes it does. No reliable sources means no verifiability and no evidence of notability. I find it interesting is not a valid argument for retention of a article which does not meet our standards. Wikipedia is not for something you and your friends made up in class one day; if and when the game you invented becomes notable, then and only then will there be an article here about it. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:12, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for make me younger, but I left the classroom many years ago (I'm 42 - Electronic Engineer). If notable means that someone write about it you can find here a lot of positive reviews about this game (they are outdated, now the project is open sourced): [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]

Are these reliable sources ? Don't think so. But I feel that any lecturer will never write something about this game. Although a lot of people played this game. It seems that many people likes much more write about this: [12]. Probably this is much more notable, but I still prefer my Roboforge page.

I browsed some Wiki pages and I found this: [13].

If I understand correctly this Wiki project accepts On line resources "..links to websites that may contain reviews from gaming magazines, or full-page scans.." as sources. This should mean that what I described before as no reliable resource are reliable sources. Under the premises above, I please You again to reconsider deletion of Roboforge page. I will add these new sources to my page. Thanks for your attention. Fredd67 (talk) 20:26, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Fredd67

Fred: This list is getting too long. This is not the place to discuss this issue, I userfied the page to User:Fredd67/Roboforge for you to work on. Once you think the article is ready, you can move it, or copy the text to article space. If at any point you want the user sub-page deleted, just place a {{db-userreq}} tag on it and any passing admin will take care of it for you. Good luck, and please remember to always sign your posts in Talk pages by adding four tildes at the end. -- Alexf(talk) 01:46, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Ok, just to say thank You --Fredd67 (talk) 16:25, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Wrong talk page deleted

I requested deletion of Hold Your Horses and assumed that Talk:Hold Your Horses would be deleted with it. Related conversation with Chzz may be found at my talk page. However, on my watchlist I now see:

  • (Deletion log); 01:50 . . Alexf (talk | contribs) deleted "Talk:Hold Your Horses (album)" (G8: Page dependent on a deleted or nonexistent page)
  • (Deletion log); 01:49 . . Alexf (talk | contribs) deleted "Hold Your Horses" (R3: Recently-created, implausible redirect)

Thus, whilst you correctly deleted Hold Your Horses, you deleted the wrong article talk page. Talk:Hold Your Horses (album) was a valid talk page linked to/from Hold Your Horses (album) which is itself a valid article; however, Talk:Hold Your Horses is the talk page of the article for which I requested deletion. Perhaps I should have put a {{db-r3}} into the article talk page as well. Chzz didn't suggest it though.

Please restore Talk:Hold Your Horses (album) and delete Talk:Hold Your Horses. --Redrose64 (talk) 09:04, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Oh. I see the problem. Fixed. Thanks for the heads up. -- Alexf(talk) 10:53, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
It's fine now, thanks :) --Redrose64 (talk) 13:11, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

J.R Talcott

Why did you delete our pages titled J.R Talcott? whats it to you whether we post a page, all of your articles are crap. you dont know if our articles are true or not, which our story is. Please figure out a way to put our articles back. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Walloon20 (talkcontribs) 23:21, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

If you read the deletion summary it gives a clear reason that should answer your question. If you had read the instructions, you'd also would have known to include a red link to the article in question. After having deleted literally several thousand articles, it is not possible to remember them, so the onus is on you to include a red link if you want a more detailed explanation, else I've no idea what are you talking about so I can only answer in general terms. As per your comment, it is not "what is it to me", but what the rules of Wikipedia are. We all follow the rules. If we don't then our articles that do not comply with the rules might get deleted, and editors that violate the rules repeatedly might get blocked from doing so. You'd have to agree that we cannot run an open encyclopedia without some rules, don't you think? Oh, one of the rules says articles have to be about something or somebody notable. Truth, as you call it is lees important than verifiability. -- Alexf(talk) 01:18, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Addendum: I checked your Talk page, and I see there is a speedy deletion notice posted in your page by the tagging editor. It also has a red link which you could have copied. I followed the link and looked at the article. It all sounds fishy, , and at the very least it looks like original research. Did not have one single source for the text, nor one single reference or citation, as required. There, at least I searched for you and got you a more detailed answer. Hope this answers your question. Also, as a matter of policy, please be so kind as to follow the rules, and create a new section for every new item and always sign your posts in Talk pages with four tildes at the end. Thank you for your attention. -- Alexf(talk) 01:26, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Deleted Article

11:40, 28 July 2009 Alexf (talk | contribs) deleted "Html comics" ‎ (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion)

RED LINK: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Html_comics

My article was deleted, and yet, I find it to be credible and relevant as informative, not merely advertisement and promotional. The article describes a concept for a website, without providing links to the site, hence no direct advertisement for it. The website described is one that could change the entire perspective of distribution of reading material. It describes a website that uses the logical premises inherent to a library and its approach to redefine the Internet as a medium of delivery for a library. Below is a copy-and-paste of the article. Please review it, and please respond back to me by eMail at Data@DatabaseEngineers.com.

I hope that you find the same relevance and see the same value within the article that has been perceived by several hundred others whom have reviewed it.

Sincerely, Database Engineers, Inc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.78.157.4 (talk) 10:53, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

I see you have recreated the article and it has been tagged for speedy deletion under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion: "An article about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (e.g. band, club, company, etc., except schools), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant". The article that was deleted looked to me, and to the tagging editor as advertising for the website you described. This time it was tagged for notability issues as it has no references and assertion of notability whatsoever. -- Alexf(talk) 12:03, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Added: article copy does not belong here, cluttering talk pages so it was removed from my talk page. I read it and do not see why it should not have been deleted. Responses are in Talk pages. Email is private and only used in Wikipedia when discussing private and personal material such as addresses or telephone numbers. All other communication is preferred to be done in Talk pages as it is therefore visible to the community. Lastly, please remember to sign your posts in Talk by adding four tildes at the end. Thank you. -- Alexf(talk) 12:07, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

wahhabi myth

Hi there, I recently created an article that was deleted and so I was hoping we could dsicuss further. I am sure you are doing a great job and trying your best to keep wikipedia a great site and source of information.

Unfortunately the people who asked for the page to be deleted, did so for sectarian reasons (i.e. they are against salaafi Islam and so do not want my page up and running because it may dispell myths they are happy for everyone to fall for).

I quoted this as my source of info:

http://www.thewahhabimyth.com/

I am not in anyway a sponsor of the book, as you can see most of the book has been made readily available online anyways and this is about putting a political topic on wikipedia and not about advertisements or spam in anyway shape or form. The book has already been quoted on this site in other articles many times so wikipedia must consider it to be an acceptable link.

The topic I wish to discuss is how salaafi/"wahhabi" muslims have been branded as terrorists by the media even though its incredibly innaccurate. This is proved in this book that I quoted you. It gives links to many newspaper articles and other sources of info to prove the point and the book is incredibly relevant to the topic at hand. Many times the media call Jihadi muslims "wahhabi's" even though this is incorrectly labelling peaceful muslims to their own detriment while letting the extremist ideologies of qutbism (the violent sect in Islam) go scot free.

So its a very important issue. But groups like the sufi;s are happy to see people incorrectly view salaafi's as terrorists because it puts people off becoming salaafi but Im sure wikipedia has no place for such rivalries and politics. I hope we can sort this out soon, I am happy to discuss further.

I hope to hear from you soon as I would like to get thispage up and running. Thanks. All the best

David.Baratheon (talk) 09:21, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

btw I tried to put four tildes along with my user name but the link does not link to my profile so I dont know what to do here but my username is David.Baratheon anyways so hopefully we can discuss further. Thankyou —Preceding unsigned comment added by David.Baratheon (talkcontribs) 09:23, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

The article was deleted because it was advertising for a book, pure and simple. Whatever the media calls your brand of mysticism is not our problem, just write to the editor of the publication you have a problem with if you like. I do not want to engage in a religious discussion here. If you want to write an article that is coherent and well researched, with good reliable sources properly cited, please go ahead. The article that was deleted had none of that, just spam which is against Wikipedia's rules. If you do not know how to write a WP article, maybe reading Your First Article might help. If you want to understand more of what the encyclopedia is about, please read The Five Pillars. -- Alexf(talk) 20:33, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Time Guitars

Alex,

I put that up at the request of the copyright owner who said to me in a post, "That 'Short History of Time' has been rewritten many times. I plan to rewrite it soon with new information. It really should be on Wikipedia... Any takers?". you can see that request at http://www.timeguitars.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=171. Is it possible for you to "undelete" all the work I just did? I woud really appreciate your help, thanks in advance.

Thanks very much,

Craig French

I userfied the article at User:Crgfrench/TimeGuitars for you t work on. Please read about Wikipedia:Copyright violations as these are taken seriously. If you plan to work on it, you should take these warnings into consideration, as they could get you blocked to protect the project. If you want that subpage deleted, just place a {{db-userreq}} tag on it and a passing admin will take care of it for you. I would suggest you move that text out of there and work on it off-line to fix it. There are no guaranties that another editor, or a bot, will tag it for deletion as copyright violation again, as that is what it is, so I would strongly suggest you move it out soon. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 20:22, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of Fabrizio_Capobianco

Hello Alexf

the page in subject was deleted because of 'G12: Blatant copyright infringement' and a later rewrite was deleted because of 'no notability outside of company'. This page is Capobianco is linked from ProjectPier as Capobianco is the author ofthe license once used by that software (and still used by this one Opentaps).

I'd be glad to fix the copyright violation in the page, once I can understand which one it was.

Thanks, Smaffulli (talk) 15:18, 31 July 2009 (UTC) smaffulli

The page was deleted for copyright violations way back in Sept '08. The latest deletion, the one you'll have to address now, is from 14/July/2009 which has to do with notability. Please read about WP:BIO to understand the requirements. Having been mentioned on, or linked from other WP pages are not valid references or confer notability. Also, please note that blogs, personal websites and social networks like facebook or myspace do not constitute reliable sources. -- Alexf(talk) 16:18, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
