Please stop making false accusations.
I am not 174.3.66.128, so the views expressed by him/her is not my views. Furthermore the it is very easy to find sources for the facts in his comment, and the facts are interesting in regards to the article which the talk page belongs to. PerDaniel (talk) 14:45, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- You will note that I amended my comment to reflect your restoration of soapboxing by others. I don't see any suggestion there for article improvement, just complaint about Harper with no suggestions about article improvement. Removal of such digressions is not "censorship", and you've moved into edit-warring by restoring it yet again. Acroterion (talk) 14:48, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- I forgot to mention your second false accusation: That the vandalism I reverted wasn't vandalism. How can it be anything but vandalism when someone claims that a disputed viewpoint is false? I thought that wikipedia was supposed to be an encyclopedia? PerDaniel (talk) 14:57, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- You're painting a content dispute as vandalism. Vandalism usually involves the word "poop" or something of a similar nature. Don't characterize disagreement (or someone's mistaken edit) as vandalism. Wikipedia isn't a battleground: characterizing other editors as vandals is not conducive to a collegial editing environment. Acroterion (talk) 15:18, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- No, I interpreted it as vandalism. I really can't see how anyone can interpret the insertion of a clearly false statement as anything else. PerDaniel (talk) 10:34, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- The edit was not vandalism by Wikipedia's usual interpretation: as I said, vandalism usually is along the lines of "Marissa iz a poopyhead." The appropriate summary in this case would be "inappropriate editorializing," "commentary unsupported by source," or just plain "citation needed," but it's not vandalism. Labeling other editors as vandals is inflammatory and distracts from the specific issues associated with the edit. Providing an objective, specific edit summary is more polite and allows other participants to see what might be the real problem, rather than just a curt dismissal. It also makes your views more likely to be taken seriously. Acroterion (talk) 11:45, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll remember that any edit not containing four letter words is by definition made in good faith, and that there are other labels I can put on edits that reduce the quality of an article. PerDaniel (talk) 19:34, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Basically correct and insightful: we'll make a Wikipedian out of you yet. Acroterion (talk) 19:46, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

You Deleted My Article on DocMate
Hello Acroterion, I posted an article on DocMate.com and was wondering why it got deleted. I know the website is not active yet, but was setting up the wiki page early cause it said it would take several days to get reviewed. We are launching the website on Friday, so i was wondering how I would go upon to get the DocMate wiki page up? Is there anything else i would have to add or that I missed? Please let me know and hope to hear form you soon. Thank You, DocMate — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smdocmate (talk • contribs) 16:59, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- It was promotional in nature on behalf of a site that doesn't yet exist and which doesn't appear to be sufficiently notable to be included if it did exist. Wikipedia isn't a place to promote your website. Please read WP:WEB, WP:CORP, WP:SPAM and WP:COI: you are strongly discouraged from writing about your business, since it's hard to maintain an appropriately objective distance from the subject. deletion of Michael Sabatini page
Hello. I think you deleted the draft I had done on Dr Michael Sabatini. This was a first draft and I had not completed it, so the significance of the person (eco-innovation in development and material sourcing) does not apear. I wonder is it possible for me to retrieve this text so I can work on it? I am afraid I do not have a copy so if you could guide me how to retrieve the original text I would be very grateful. I am new here so am afaraid I did not understand a work in progress should not be listed Many thanks.Hawarden10 (talk) 15:32, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- I deleted it because it amounted to a great deal of speculation about a living person: see WP:BLP, which applies to all namespaces, including user drafts. "High net-worth individual" and "is believed to have" aren't really satisfactory for a biography. The references were just links to websites rather than specific references supporting the content. I'm willing to restore the content, minus the problematic characterizations, provided you undertake to provide specific references and to indicate why this person meets the inclusion guidelines at WP:BIO. Being rich isn't enough; there must be significant coverage in independent sources, and the content must be directly supported by the references. Acroterion (talk) 15:41, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
Many thanks. I would be grateful if you could restore the content, and I will then copy and paste it and then take it off the page. I will work on it offline until I get something of quality. I need to complete the references (newspapers, date, page number etc), scholarly papers etc. The signifance of the subject is that in both areas Dr Sabatini invests in (real estate, luxury goods), he is insisting on state of the art ecologically friendly development, and applies criteria as regards sourcing of luxury goods which respect environmental and social considerations. This is very important as all the geographical areas affected are environmentally at risk. Often too, foreign investment in some of these areas carries the risk of social exploitation in terms of wages, conditions etc. The interest for me is not the financial aspect as such but some quite revolutionary ideas of this individual as regards introducing ecological and social considerations as decision-making criteria for high-profit profit mainstream venture capitalism and private investment. The article will be focusing on this aspect. Thank you again. Hawarden10 (talk) 16:51, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

- Since I haven't worked at AfC before, I'll let one of the regular AfC participants do it. It looks good on a superficial level, but it's definitely not my field. You might want to post at WP:AFCHD since it's been languishing, and I'll drop a note once I get back on the wiki in an hour or so. Acroterion (talk) 12:48, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
is part of Wikipedia:School and university projects/Polytechnic of Namibia/Information Competence, September 2012/Logistic and Transport Management and I've had another one posting spam from there. I think they are doing what they have been told (or what they think they've been told), but there's no way anyone here would know the difference if they hadn't found the project (like I did, being nosy). I've sent User:Pgallert a message as he seems to be involved on the organising side. Peridon (talk) 15:14, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- The suspicion that it was a school project has been gradually dawning for me as well. I'd be glad to unblock if they'd just stop posting spam for a hotel: there's plenty of other possibilities in Namibia for articles. Acroterion (talk) 15:16, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Anthropology dicta
Hey Acroterion, there seems to be an issue over on the Negroid and Mongoloid pages with an anonymous ip/new account. He or she has been replacing the neutral, sourced assertions that the terms are still in use by some anthropologists but criticized by others with declarations that they are universally discredited. This is of course at odds with our Race (human classification) page on the race validity debate. Another editor has also attempted to explain this to him/her [2], but seemingly to no avail. If it's no trouble, could you take a look? I'm concerned that it may perhaps be that same blocked trolling user again. Kind regards - Soupforone (talk) 01:15, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
- They do seem to be landing on the subjects with both feet. I removed a certain amount of editorializing. I've, of course, blocked a series of sockpuppet accounts, but this editor seems to be different (and we just had a checkuser on those accounts, so this one can't be related). I'll leave a note on their talkpage about using the article talkpages rather than communicating entirely in edit summaries. Acroterion (talk) 01:30, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

Newtown-Stephensburg Historic District
Hey Acroterion, I am having some trouble figuring out where to start on the Newtown-Stephensburg Historic District page. When I created it, it looked like I had all the information available (outside of Wikipedia mirrors). I checked again today and it looks like I still do. I did find a Google Book with some information about the Historic District, but nothing really new I don't already have down. Do you know where I should start on this one? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 17:06, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- The nomination document (referenced already) [3] has a fair amount of detail on the contributing buildings. The trick will be to boil it down so it's not just a rehash of the NRHP docs. Beyond that, you'll probably have some difficulty unless you can bring in some Civil War aspects that weren't significant enough to cover in the Stephens City article. Acroterion (talk) 17:09, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- I did want to cover the houses that might have historical significance. I know some of them are just residences but some are historical properties, mostly owned by the town or the Newtown History Center, that have been restored to their original exterior and interior. One is a pure wooden building that is currently used as a CPA's office. It is dated back to the 1780s, I do believe. Another is the old store that was the imfamous building where the "Order to Burn" Stephens City was nailed to the door. It has hosted numerous businesses, a knick-knack shop is there now. I would like to post more about those, the only problem is most of the information is from either the Newtown History Center or original research. There aren't any books or websites I can look at for information. :S - Neutralhomer • Talk • 19:40, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- Another question for ya, where would I find historic population figures for towns, like Stephens City? Google just plain isn't being my friend tonight on this one. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 05:49, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Deleted page Mr. Envi'
Hi,
I've been following this artist since last fall after I heard one of his songs on the radio. Even though he's an unsigned indie artist who owns his own label, he still manages to market himself just as well as an established indie label. I created his page because I feel that some of the unsigned artist that have been investing and proving themselves on a regular basis deserve to at least have their stories seen on a wiki page. I've seen other artist pages on here that haven't released their first project and yet their pages are still up. It's already bad enough these artist don't get enough exposure or credit for their work, but to get rejected because of a technicality. I've researched the information listed on his page and listed links for reference purposes. If the content that I've posted isn't enough, you are more than welcome to google him. I'm sure you'll find more than enough references to keep his page active. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ss2spoon (talk • contribs) 05:46, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

fairness
I suggest that this page is about the truth movement which is precisely a movement contesting the official theory, which by the way has its own page. It is therefore unacceptable that the official theory should be re-stated in the very page that seeks to question its truthfulness. It remains a fact that a large tract of the world population has grave concerns to say the least about the government own conspiracy theory. Facts I am quoting are well documented such as excessive aircraft speed, unexplained total structural collapse of WTC 1 2 and 7, flight deck of flight on Pentagon not having been opened, etc. I am also an architect and form part of the ever-growing number of professionals who view the official theory with increasing suspicion as to its veracity. Alternatively remove the whole section stating the official conspiracy theory. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrrev (talk • contribs) 23:22, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

This page should not be protected. There is a great article for this person that has lots of good information about his history and career. --DU2010OR (talk) 03:53, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

- This person has had a major impact on his local community and within the state. The article I have seen created is great about this person and would be great information to the public. --DU2010OR (talk) 01:05, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
- Am I going to get a response from you on creating this page?--DU2010OR (talk) 01:49, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- I wasn't planning on expanding on the advice above, but I'll reiterate. Read WP:BIO and WP:GNG to review notability guidelines, then WP:BLP, WP:RS and WP:V for sourcing requirements. The article I deleted clearly did not meet notability guidelines: to establish notability for any subject, it must be covered by multiple independent reliable sources and must demonstrate more than purely local notability. Doing imaging work for a local radio station isn't sufficient. Acroterion (talk) 02:20, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- There is a lot more then just radio imaging for major market radio stations. Here is a page that someone started that more info has been added to. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Dylan Underwood --DU2010OR (talk) 05:54, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- That's a good place to start: I still don't see a strong claim to meeting Wikipedia notability guidelines, the article is somewhat promotional in nature, and sourcing is weak on independent media. We'll see what other editors think. Acroterion (talk) 12:40, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

Deletion - Fairfield-Grace United Methodist Church
Hi. I'd like your guidance on this: - I work for the church, and we hold the copyright to the history and directory. There's no violation here, and the community is better served to get this information out, instead of on an obscure page on the church's site. - The church is remarkable because it's a local landmark, the site of many town events, and has been for 50 years. We're referenced on the town's wiki page.
Look forward to your feedback. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bbissell (talk • contribs) 21:43, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
- While you could in principle donate the content, as the copyright/deletion notice discusses, it would be better to write a short encyclopedic account using the church web content as a source. That, however, does nothing to establish the organization's notability: for that you'll need references from third-party publications that make clear the church's notability on more than a local level. See WP:ORG for guidelines. I too come to you in search of adult guidance. Lookie at the article above. The firm said something stupid on their Twitter account. This is true, but not too important. Now editors who I suspect work for the firm are blanking the account of what happened. If someone would just talk on the talk page, I am sure we could reach a meeting of minds. But my hard-headed nature seems to object to their high-handed method of editing. Tell me what you think. --Paul, in Saudi (talk) 01:19, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
- I see the material as ephemera: remarkably dumb, but not of lasting importance, and more of an employee-management issue than anything else. I'd leave it out of an encyclopedia article unless the statement had the endorsement of the board and top managers, which it apparently didn't. That said, the IP is almost certainly a sockpuppet of the blocked edit-warrior from KA PR, but I don't see this as something worth the fight. Acroterion (talk) 01:25, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Clinovo page
Hello,
It seems you deleted the Clinovo page in June 2011 due to "unambiguous copyright infringement". Is there a way to use the deleted page to start from there to create a new one? And can you point out what the infringement was at that time?
Thank you,

- The version I deleted was a copy of this [4] (which apparently no longer exists), and as such was unusable at the time on Wikipedia as a copyright violation, as user-generated content and as advertising. It was three paragraphs long and wasn't very informative. I suggest that you write a neutrally-worded, factual article based on third-party sources, and that you carefully read WP:COI first, since you have a clear conflict of interest in the subject. You'll need to clearly assert how the company is notable (see WP:CORP) by reference to third-party coverage, and you'll need to strictly avoid marketing-speak and promotion, and to remember that you will not be able to control the content once it's created. You'll also need to change your username to one that reflects you individually, rather than a company (Wikipedia, for complex issues relating to free-content copyright law, can't accept contributions from entities such as the "Clinovo Marketing Team"). While you're not prohibited from editing with a COI, you'll need to be extra-diligent in avoiding promotion. Acroterion (talk) 19:50, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Just want to know why the article Total Media Networks SA was deleted, I just want you to give some advice on how to put it in order to make it worthy of Wikipedia, Thanks!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sergiosam77 (talk • contribs) 04:57, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- You would need to make it non-promotional and you'd need to avoid copying from copyrighted sources, as well as use third-party sources to make the notability of the company clear. The article as you wrote it did not meet requirements in any of those three areas. It's up to you to resolve those issues. 14:35, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

- I don't question that the artist exists, just whether they're notable. If you have material that substantiates the artist's notability, by all means please register an account and write a better article. The version I deleted did not incdicate any sort of notability. - Sorry, I missed that. The material is, however, tangential to the main article and rather out-of-place; you might want to consider tightening it so it doesn't place undue weight on that topic. It appears that a class is editing the article, and maybe others - that's a good thing, and we'd like to help you if you need assistance, or need feedback. Acroterion (talk) 17:26, 28 November 2012
Yes, I am apart of that class. I am talking about the effects that were placed on the emergency relief teams. It is for a social disaster class and we all have to use the same page. I dont know where else I can fit in the effects that were cause from the disaster to the police, firmen, etc.
- It's always best to keep in mind the main point of the article, and to add material in proportion to its importance. It appears to me that your part is too detailed, and more of a statement of opinion and sentiment than clear encyclopedic fact. Sometimes when classes edit Wikipedia, they lose sight of the objective, which is to write a good encyclopedia, rather than to add material simply because it was assigned. That leads to bloated, unfocused articles. Is there some other, more directly relevant issue that you believe the article needs to address? Can you pare down your additions? Often, a well-crafted sentence has more impact than a loose paragraph. Acroterion (talk) 17:57, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

- I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you're asking about an article on a local Texas politician deleted in 2011?? If that is the case, you might want to look at Wikipedia's guidelines for notability of politicians. In general, one must have held statewide office to be considered a notable politician for Wikipedia purposes, or have been a mayor of a major city. Local party figures and county-level politicians aren't considered notable unless they've gotten a lot of press coverage, usually on a national basis. Joe Arpaio would be an example of such an official, but he's the exception that proves the rule. Additionally, Wikipedia requires that biographies of living persons be appropriately sourced, and while the article had one source, the bulk of the content was unsupported by reliable sourcing. Your consultant might want to review Wikipedia's policies on conflict of interest, as paid writing is very much frowned upon as unlikely to have an appropriately neutral editorial distance from their subjects. Biscayne again
I grabbed a few images directly from the NPS webpages and placed them in the article. I believe that this is fine so long as the images aren't attributed. I also placed some images in the article from the NPS page that stated the images were for media, website use, meaning PD. The images are just placeholders as you may have some of your own that are better...or be able to find better ones elsewhere like off Flickr. Mike Cline mentioned on my talkpage we are missing a Glacier historical structure article...I'll probably do the stub on that unless you beat me to it since that is an area you're more familiar with. Anyway, getting back to Biscayne, it's looking pretty good...I'll try to expand the ecology section some more soon if you wish.MONGO 17:04, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
- I saw your work; my impression about the images is the same, that credited images should be avoided unless it specifically says "NPS photographer." I don't have much in the way of my own images: we lacked access to a boat and tours weren't running the morning we were there. There was scarcely any horizon out on the bay and the pictures I got were pretty prosaic. I'm going to lay off Biscayne for a few days, maybe do some work on linked articles (I created Cocolobo Cay Club for instance today), and come back to it to in a week or so to reorganize, copyedit, fix and organize references, etc. Anything you have the time to do is welcome.
- I'll take a look at doing an article on the Saint Mary's complex - there was a gap there for some reason I don't recall, but it should be fillable. Acroterion (talk) 18:01, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

We've gone a long way toward resolving what we think their concerns may be, and I've blocked the editor who seems to be adding the problematic content, but it would be much easier for all parties if they'd just explain rather than making new accounts to repeat the "denuciation." New to Wikipedia
Hello, I am new to wikipedia and I am confused. I noticed you deleted the external link I place. This link is to a site that provides answers to questions about FDA regulations. It has useful information throughout the pages and it has a livehelp link that can provide immediate answers to questions. Isn't this something that should be on a page about the FDA?

- Links to offers of services are discouraged on Wikipedia: it is considered advertising. External links should be confined to sites that provide encyclopedic content in greater detail than the summary format found on Wikipedia. That was not the case for your link, which appears to be intended to drive traffic to the website. Please see WP:ELNO for external link policy, and in particular items 1, 4 and 13. The article is about the FDA, not about companies providing services for FDA interaction. Acroterion (talk) 20:56, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
File:Sawtooth Valley ID1.jpg
I was thinking of renominating File:Sawtooth Valley ID1.jpg as a featured picture candidate on Wikipedia. I didn't notice until a few weeks ago that you had nominated in July, and it is unfortunate that there were only two votes. If you think you can fix the chromatic aberration beforehand, please do. Hopefully we can get more people to vote the second time. Fredlyfish4 (talk) 00:55, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

- FPs must have significant encyclopedic value, must be used in at least one article, must be visually interesting, and must be of a high technical standard. I'm surprised the chromatic aberration wasn't criticized in the FP review on Commons, but it's correctable. CA is usually a purple fringe on the border of dark and light objects, the product of inconsistencies in the way a lens manipulates the light path depending on frequency. Lenses are mostly quite good at this, but a little Photoshop is sometimes necessary - there are filters that are customized to each lens's characteristics that do a good job of correction. I didn't have that when I originally uploaded the image. I'm doing some corrections now and will uploaded the improved version in a while. Acroterion (talk) 02:25, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

ThinkLite page deletion
Dear Acroterion,
Could you please explain why you deleted the ThinkLite page?
I believe that ThinkLite could be a valuable resource for people doing research in the efficient lighting field.
It is a real business that is run by a real person. You can find more information here: http://thinklite.com/index.htm

Dear Acroterion,
I apologize for not including this earlier: ThinkLite and Dinesh Wadhwani were mentioned in Businessweek; Dinesh was noted as the #2 most notable person in the 25 under 25 category. Here is the link with the information: http://bostinno.com/2011/09/26/businessweek-top-25-under-25-3-boston-area-founders-honored-as-americas-best-young-entrepreneurs/

- That's a start: you will need a couple more sources like that, preferably from somewhere other than Boston. Since you have the same content in your sandbox I suggest that you expand it there using multiple sources and explain how the company is notable before you re-create it in article space. - The article I deleted gave no indication of notability. See WP:MUSICIAN for guidelines. Links to user-generated content are not useful for establishing notability - you'll need links to third-party media like newspapers, etc. to establish that critics have taken notice. Since the article has now been deleted five times, and was the subject of a full deletion discussion the first time, any article must bring substantive new sourcing that clearly establishes compliance with inclusion guidelines. I've placed create-protection on the title to prevent further disruption: registered accounts may wish to develop an appropriate article in a userspace sandbox, or editors may wish to try articles for creation. Everybody should first review WP:Articles for deletion/Zomboy. Acroterion (talk) 12:20, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

I did not make personal attacks. I simply said that I would be angry if my page was taken down. Who wouldn't. I worked really hard on that page. Then I am told that my sources are bad when they are written by the creator of the film himself. After that I am told that the page is a autobiography. Alien Adventures (The s is there) is not a true story. The film may be about me and my friends, but the story is nearly complete fiction. You cannot take down my page for FisherQueens reasons and this is why: www
- You most certainly attacked FisherQueen, and you clearly don't or won't understand Wikipedia's notability, sourcing and verification requirements. Wikipedia isn't a place for you to publicize your personal and non-notable projects. That is why the article has been nominated for deletion, which FisherQueen has explained to you with much greater politeness and patience than you've displayed. Acroterion (talk) 18:20, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Personal attacks reboot
By the way, you cannot call my talk on my blog as attacks because I was angry and my blog has hardly anything to do with Wikipedia and it was not said on Wikipedia so it cannot be used against me because of the factuality that it is just saying what I think and it was not originally meant to be read by anyone else but me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bloonsman16 (talk • contribs) 18:24, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- I haven't read your blog, nor am I interested in doing so, since it is not a useful source for encyclopedia articles: I'm responding to the abuse on FisherQueen's talkpage. However, if you don't want something to be read by others, the Internet is a poor place to post it, particularly by linking it two paragraphs up on the 5th most popular website in the world. Acroterion (talk) 18:27, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
I didn't want it to be read at the time. I didn't say anything about right now. I just wanted to create a page but she had to be mean and say my sources aren't notable when they are more notable than most sources on this site. That blog is more useful for an encyclopedia than any thing that is on this site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bloonsman16 (talk • contribs) 18:58, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- Blogs aren't usable as sources in most cases on Wikipedia, nor are most kinds of user-generated content. They most definitely aren't useful to establish notability, as the whole point of notability is to indicate that the world in general has taken critical notice of the subject. Read WP:NOTE, WP:V and WP:RS. Acroterion (talk) 19:15, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Personal attacks 3: The Return of the Trying to Protect
That was not an attack. This page was not personal as it was for a film. This became personal when FisherQueen called me a girl. All I said was that my blog was really reliable and that the blog was more reliable than most of the sources on this website are because it was made by the director of the film. Then I told that other guy what was going on, not attacking her. Give me one example of how I supposedly attacked her. I said I would be angry, not that I was going to do anything to her. I am not a girl. Cody Thomas Kear
(talk) 18:38, 18 December 2012 (UTC)]]
- (Butting in) "You're worse than the worst people I know" is about as clear a personal attack as I can imagine. Please don't do that again. Antandrus (talk) 18:41, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
She was also being very very mean at the second that I made it and she had blocked me because I am not a reliable source for my own movie. I would lave to see her look at this from my point of view. I just tried to make a page for an upcoming film with a blog from the maker of the film for sources and then she said that this film isn't notable. Maybe she isn't a fan of my film but I'm not a fan of Justin Bieber but do you see me saying that he isn't notable enough for a page. NO, YOU DON"T. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bloonsman16 (talk • contribs) 18:44, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- She as not being mean, you are not entitled to lash out at editors who are concerned that you're misusing Wikipedia for your personal projects, and being addressed as "she" is not an insult in a context where your gender was unknown. We call lots of girls "he" by assumption or accident on the Internet: sometimes it gets evened up. Acroterion (talk) 19:07, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Blocks
Oh and by the way, she had already blocked me for no apparent reason right before I typed that out of anger. Why do you think I was so angry at her.Bloonsman16 (talk) 19:41, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- You weren't blocked. You were never blocked [6]. If you were blocked, you wouldn't have been able to make your personal attack. An IP address was blocked [7], but that would not and did not affect this account. Bear in mind that logging out to pretend you're somebody else can get you blocked, and in this case the IP was blocked to force you to use your named account. Acroterion (talk) 19:43, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Young editors
I'll think about what I can add to your efforts, and you might consider contacting C. Fred and Gimmetrow. The three of us are the only admins that pay attention to the Disney Channel/Nickelodeon articles, and, not surprisingly, these are a magnet for tween editors.
The one characteristic I've noticed is that they seem to think that Wikipedia really matters in a causal sense. They believe that if they insert lots of awards for Selena Gomez and remove awards for Demi Lovato that this actually benefits Selena Gomez and that she will appreciate their efforts. It makes them quite hard to deal with at times.
Late-teen boys dealing with Rihanna/Mariah Carey/Lady Gaga/Beyonce Knowles are a similar story. The little shrines they insist on building can be quite frustrating to deal with.—Kww(talk) 16:58, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
- Will do. I note that the subject of young editors got a lot of attention and no consensus between 2005 and 2008, but it was mostly about imposing limitations on young editors, rather than a discussion of issues and interactions. I think times have changed since then and that while we have reams of policy on the naming of ships and the placement of emdashes, we offer no guidance on how to treat one of our largest user groups, and the one that is critical to Wikipedia's future.
- I'll think about causality, which I've mostly ignored so far.
- Link for my 346-odd talkpage watchers: User:Acroterion/Dealing with the young
- What I don't want to do is to encourage editors to pigeonhole kids as an excuse to not take them seriously. I've encountered some very sharp 12 and 13 year olds who deserve our respect. Unfortunately, there are a lot of others whom we must deal with on other terms. Acroterion (talk) 17:29, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
Sorry
I would like to sincerely apologize for my stupidity in the last week. I just got angry because I was blocked. If FisherQueen had sent me a message instead of just blocking me, I would not have gotten so angry. When my movie is a little bit more publicized, I would like to make the page again. This time I will have correct sources, get Wizard or some other magazine to write an article, and get everything together. I would really like to be forgiven and once again I am sorry for my idiotics.
Cody Kear
- Your partial apology still tries to justify your angry response to advice from other editors. However, for my part, I accept what there is. Wikipedia editors forgive lots of things, some of them far less forgivable than anything you've done, and once you realize that the encyclopedia doesn't exist for your benefit on your terms, you will be able to contribute - just not on subjects that directly concern you. I've blocked this IP for longer, because I think you need time away from Wikipedia (if nothing else, to concentrate on your school and your art) - and when your account is blocked you're not permitted to edit at all.. That's not a punishment, it's just best for all concerned. Give yourself a couple of years to mature and you'll understand what we're talking about. Until then, make your movie, have fun, and be creative. Acroterion (talk) 20:36, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
my name was placed on a page for me being a "Notable Resident" of Niskayuna, NY — but spelled wrong
Hi! The truth is, I am a notable resident of Niskayuna. I am a well known activist/entertainer — and easily found on google under many stories that have been published about myself in the media. "Holly Van Voast" "topless paparazzo" — I am the first person to actually go around regularly and consistently — in public and private areas — completely topless in NYC — for over a year and a half, at this point in time. While it has been legal to be topless in NY State for over 20 years, noone has ever done that before me to such an extent. I have been arrested over 10 times and involuntarily hospitalized (three times, once for 6 days!) for something which is completely legal. Here is the trailer for the documentary about me that is being sent to festivals right now... it's called TOPLESS SHOCK SYNDROME, and so is the title of the book I am writing about my topless activities in NYC over the past year and a half. http://talonfilms.com/topless/tss_doc_trailer.html
Ron Kuby, the renowned civil rights lawyer is in the trailer, as is Ramona Santorelli, the woman responsible for the 1992 ruling allowing women to go topless in NY State, and Moira Johnston, another (recent) topless activist. All of these people can be researched fully.
here are some media links about me and what I have been doing: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/13/nyregion/answering-a-summons-on-disrobing-and-disrobing-in-court.html?_r=0 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/16/holly-van-voast-nudist-wins-right-toplessness-mta-transportation_n_1788864.html http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/serial_breast_barer_holly_van_voast_njXF4vuIIjTfU7RmNxQkwO http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/02/28/flashing-photographer-bares-herself-again-this-time-in-court/
I am also on the actual Ron Kuby website as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lensjockey (talk • contribs) 02:33, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
I didn't post my name on the Niskayuna page, but could it be put back somehow, only spelled correctly? Can I make a page about myself? I just found it by accident actually... the reference to me. Thanks! Holly Van Voast Lensjockey (talk) 02:12, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
- I removed your name from the article since at the time there was no indication that you were notable. Whether you are in fact notable depends on whether there was significant coverage of your accomplishment, and whether that coverage was of a lasting nature, rather than simple coverage of a stunt. You can't use your own material to support an article beyond simple facts, or to establish notability, and you can't use Wikipedia for publicity. You are strongly discouraged from writing about yourself: autobiographies aren't encouraged, as it is likely that if you are truly notable, someone detached from the subject will write about you. See WP:YFA and WP:AUTOBIO for more. You (and the other people you mention) will need, erm, coverage in major media, which you seem to have received, so I suspect the notability issue can be addressed. Acroterion (talk) 02:23, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
Why are you reverting my facts?
These files I am including into your Wikipedia are factual information; why are you reverting them?
-Luke
well, stunt is actually the wrong word entirely for what I have been doing...
I cannot control how people respond to a VERY stressful, time consuming, dangerous, and thought out endeavor. At all. But I just wanted to talk to you about this. You know, just for the record, NYC is full of exhibitionists who don't have the courage to do what I do, and there is no rule about activism that says that you have to be like OWS, or MLK or "serious"... the humor in my own actions, not to mention other aspects of what I do seem to make people seem like I am only doing a stunt, that's too bad... and too bad that you see the same thing. hey, how many women do you know who would go around completely topless in The Bronx and actually walk into police precincts topless? Anyway, I wasn't the one posting my name initially, I just found my name on the site. So I haven't been publicizing myself all on wikipedia. I hold no grudge against you because you see things the way alot of others have, luckily my lawyers (Ron Kuby not being the only lawyer involved) don't share your views or the views of so many others. That said, you are right in that someone else will probably make a page about me in th future at some point. I appreciate your response — everything is cool! Lensjockey (talk) 02:40, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
- I didn't characterize your actions as a stunt, I just mention that stunts don't meet notability guidelines, having had no prior knowledge of you and your activities. As I said, there seems to be sufficient coverage for notability to at least be asserted, though national coverage would be helpful (HuffPo is a bit marginal. Anyway, I'm slightly surprised that notbody has written an article about you, so I don't think it'll be long. Acroterion (talk) 02:47, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
Strangely, and sadly, the reason that noone has written an article about me is because, although tons of news organizations and celebrities and media people have seen me, I have been seen ( pretty much without exception ) as simply some desperate talentless woman doing some dumb stunt. The truth however is, that no woman would ever (or has ever) done what I do as a stunt, you get ridiculed constantly and most people don't have the ego for what I have been doing. There are not too many stunts which involve the number of times I have been arrested and involuntarily hospitalized. It's been very interesting seeing the live results of my social experiments! Lensjockey (talk) 14:15, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
- It certainly testifies to your fortitude, and one could argue that, apart from being a form of social protest, that it's performance art. In an article about you, the problem becomes that the article would have to represent what the media thinks rather than what you think, so many people who are perceived as controversial in the media tend to be unhappy when that perception becomes the basis of an article, since articles are based on mainstream media sources. Heads-up
FYI: Hi, Acroterion. I wanted to give you a heads-up for a change I am about to make in J. D. Tippit. I saw that earlier in the year you were involved with reverting some edits from ISPs regarding the number of government investigations regarding Oswald killing Tippit. It appears as though at least four said Oswald killed Kennedy, but only two of those touched on Oswald killing Tippit. Cheers! Location (talk) 19:47, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
- I saw your changes: as you've noted, my reverts on the Tippit article are associated with that UK IP (now rangeblocked) who was obsessed with assassinations, disasters and jailbreaks, and who kept hitting Kennedy-related (and Lincoln, King, Alcatraz and Titanic-related articles too) articles with poorly-considered edits. After a while it became impossible to sort good from bad, so I just blocked and reverted. Thanks for adding the references. Acroterion (talk) 20:03, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Tribal unrest in Bavaria
Hi Acroterion. Two days ago, you blocked 213.195.215.190 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) for edit-warring over the addition of some poorly sourced contents regarding four tribes in the state of Bavaria (WP:ANEW case—sorry, can't seem to link to the section). Earlier today, soon as the block expired, they celebrated by reverting the most recent editor, who disagreed with them. What is the proper procedure? Do I start a new WP:ANEW case, or will you step in once more? I was sorely tempted to smite the perpetrator myself, but that would likely earn me a trip to the drama board. Favonian (talk) 20:12, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
- Probably best that you not smite them (though nothing's stopping you from reverting if you see fit): I've left a warning and advice on appropriate sourcing and talkpage use. The best course is usually to do what you've done: follow up with the blocking admin if they're available. If they don't take my advice, they'll get a longer block. Acroterion (talk) 20:21, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll remove the contended material, as they are nowhere close to getting consensus for its inclusion. Favonian (talk) 20:25, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
