March 2016 edit

Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Pixie Lott. Thank you. Mlpearc (open channel) 23:26, 9 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Hello, I'm CAPTAIN RAJU. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Red Flag Anti-Corruption  with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. CAPTAIN RAJU () 21:33, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dean and Chapter of Westminster edit

Greetings, comrade. Thank you for your edit to Dean and Chapter of Westminster. I am really thankful for the information regarding who is Sub-Dean and Archdeacon; however (as you can read above) edits to wikipedia require a reference — a reliable source to confirm the information provided. I have to revert your edit for now, but please come back to me with a public, reliable source. Thanks. DBD 08:41, 21 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Signpost edit edit

Hey IP user, I appreciate your interest in contributing to The Signpost; there was no major problem with the contents of your recent edit. Typically, however, Signpost articles are not substantially edited or expanded postpublication beyond corrections, especially without a postpublication note in the article documenting the changes, since published articles are generally treated as "final versions" of sorts—very much unlike anywhere else on Wikipedia. Similarly, Signpost articles have bylines with attribution, citations are generally not used with direct external links in prose being preferred, and the articles are treated much more like journalist pieces than encyclopedic entries; all of which are also much different from everywhere else in the project.

I am not reverting the edit, not least because I think it is an improvement, but this is something to keep in mind since others may be more strict about the whole publication convention. Unfortunately, it is unclear whether there will be another issue and there is some talk of indefinitely suspending operations, so this information may not matter much after all. If there is, however, please feel free to contribute before publication and during article development, whether as a writer or editor or both.

Lastly, have you considered creating an account? Regardless, consider perusing the information available at this welcome template. I can just substitute it here, especially given it seems you have not yet been welcomed to Wikipedia; but since I am already posting a more personalized message, I might as well just link it instead of cluttering your user talk page. If you want me to substitute it anyway, I can. Welcome to Wikipedia! —Nøkkenbuer (talkcontribs) 13:28, 1 October 2018 (UTC); slightly edited at 13:30, 1 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hej, Nøkkenbuer! (Is that Danish? Nøkken-buer? Water spirit-demon?)
Thank you. I was trying to help the next reader work out what on earth an "interface-admin" might be, as it was not explained there at all. I'm glad you think it was an improvement. I will be disappointed if someone else insists on making the wiki worse, in a misguided attempt to enforce "the rules".
I appreciate the personal message, but I am quite happy editing as an IP. 213.205.251.57 (talk) 13:42, 1 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
I have had Danish acquaintances who found the username amusing, but I am not nor was the username at first. You are right about the parts, though it was initially gibberish and I only later discovered—much to my amusement—that it was not. Scandinavian languages are still gibberish to me, however, so maybe it still is. I vaguely recall some obscure page on the Meta Wiki (or somewhere) that provided a userbox for IP users who refuse to create accounts, but I lost track of it a long time ago.
In any case, perhaps this essay is more to your liking. In my personal experience, having an account provides a wealth of tools and customization options which make editing much better; however, having a persistent identity is by far the worst downside and unavoidable at that. At least in the latter respect IP users have a shred of plausible deniability regarding their edits. Anyway, thanks for your edits and I hope you enjoy it here. If you ever want help, feel free to ask me on user my user talk page (pinging also works, such as with {{u|username}}) or visit the Teahouse (Help desk is another option). —Nøkkenbuer (talkcontribs) 14:18, 1 October 2018 (UTC); slightly edited at 14:20, 1 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
