Orphaned non-free image File:IRCAM logo.png

Thanks for uploading File:IRCAM logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:30, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

Upcoming changes to wikitext parsing

Hello,

There will be some changes to the way wikitext is parsed during the next few weeks. It will affect all namespaces. You can see a list of pages that may display incorrectly at Special:LintErrors. Since most of the easy problems have already been solved at the English Wikipedia, I am specifically contacting tech-savvy editors such as yourself with this one-time message, in the hope that you will be able to investigate the remaining high-priority pages during the next month.

There are approximately 10,000 articles (and many more non-article pages) with high-priority errors. The most important ones are the articles with misnested tags and table problems. Some of these involve templates, such as infoboxes, or the way the template is used in the article. In some cases, the "error" is a minor, unimportant difference in the visual appearance. In other cases, the results are undesirable. You can see a before-and-after comparison of any article by adding ?action=parsermigration-edit to the end of a link, like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Foss?action=parsermigration-edit (which shows a difference in how {{infobox ship}} is parsed).

If you are interested in helping with this project, please see Wikipedia:Linter. There are also some basic instructions (and links to even more information) at https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-ambassadors/2018-April/001836.html You can also leave a note at WT:Linter if you have questions.

Thank you for all the good things you do for the English Wikipedia. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 21:18, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

Nomination of 2017 IQA European Games for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article 2017 IQA European Games is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2017 IQA European Games until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. » Shadowowl | talk 11:29, 19 July 2018 (UTC)

EU superpower?

You have been around here for long enough to know about the WP:BRD cycle. Although the material has a [single] source, it is substantial enough to require consensus. I'm not saying it is or isn't true [not that my opinion matters anyway] but merely that like any article, the bar for material in the lead is very high. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 12:57, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

@John Maynard Friedman: I'm familiar with BRD, but in this case it is the deletion that is the bold act. The sentence itself seems to have been around for some time, so it was appropriate to revert the deletion. Your deletion removes the link to an article that discusses the topic of Europe as a superpower. I fail to see how simply deleting all mention of it qualifies as an improvement.  chi (talk) 14:06, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
In that case I withdraw. I must have missed its addition first time around because in major articles like this, every sentence in the lead has to justify its existence and this is one, had I seen it, I would have challenged at the time. Either way, revert challenges should be resolved at the talk page, not with revert wars. Which is what is happening now, after the event rather than before. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 16:54, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

Template issues

You recent changes to the Round XX templates seem to have introduced errors to dozens articles - see Category:Pages with script errors. I undid two which seems to have fixed most of the problems, but was unable to fix the third, {{ Round4-with third}} as it’s template protected. Please have a look at this, either fixing the problem or also restoring the template to its pre-Lua form until the problem is fixed.--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 21:11, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:18, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

Template modification

Hello,

Would you please modify Template:Infobox event to be able to contain the information from the official police report from the Shooting of McGlockton? We have waited 13 days from my discussion on the talk page. The time is now to modify the template.

Thank you,
--Wyn.junior (talk) 20:35, 31 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi, what's missing on the template?  chi (talk) 21:37, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
This list is missing. Please modify the template to say:

As was mentioned here, you need consensus to make a change to a template-protected page. Since there is no consensus yet the changes you want cannot be made.  chi (talk) 23:03, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Chembox assistance

Howdy! Based on some of the templates you have recently edited, I'm hoping you might be interested in helping me out with a project. I'm working on building a {{Infobox}} based replacement for {{Chembox}}. I have a working proof of concept at {{Infobox chemical}}. Looking for some expert opinions and feedback. If you have any interest, please let me know. Feel free to disregard this message. :-) (P.S. Happy thanksgiving if you are in the USA!) --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 19:14, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
