Erol Bedir, vice chairman of Association of Union of Clubs [of Turkey] stated as follows, -while underlining there is a potential [in Turkey] of around 12 to 13 millions of young male habitants that are able to play football: Considering the rapidly progressing ladies football teams around the World, it will be seen that the young populationn of our country is its biggest advantage in this subject [number of total licensed footbal players]. If fact that the population group between 15 and 35 ages of our country is at level of the total population of many other countries which are developed in football is well utilized, it would be a serious treasure to move us in front in every aspect, including football. However, current scene is not pleasant, at all. As such, while there are 1 million of licensed footballers in Holland with 17 million population, 2 million licensed footballers in France with 67 million population, 7 million licensed footballers in Germany with 82 million population; there are around 400 thousand licensed footballers in Turkey. Again, there are 127 professional and 350 regional amateur clubs [in Turkey] however, these figures are sarcastically low comparing other [developed] countries.
