Misnomer within Category-Class pages

edit

Category:Category-Class articles It starts with this category. There are no articles in this category, it contains talk pages of categories which are not "articles".

Template:Wikipedia category This may help readers/editors by bringing attention to a misnomer within the title of categories that don't list articles but has within the title "articles".

Category tag for converting to PSC

edit

This category tag " {{WikiProject Chicago|class=Cat}}" when used on a Category Talk page turns the associated Basic Category page into a PSC.

The template creates a banner that looks like:

 Chicago Unassessed
 This article is within the scope of WikiProject Chicago, which aims to improve all articles or pages related to Chicago or the Chicago metropolitan area.
???This article has not yet received a rating on Wikipedia's content assessment scale.

Standing edit statements

edit

Develop these into Personal Use Templates and then subclude them.

==WikiProject class rating==
Article needs to be broken into sections before it advances to a higher class rating. By using sections, subject matter experts can give direction for future editors as the article evolves and matures. Maybe a section on "Early life", "Education", "Career", "Later life", etc. ~~~~

Start discussion on "Project class rating"; set ChicagoWikiProject parameters

==Article class setting== The article is rated as a "stub" class. Better use of citations and references would improve the article, and possibly raise the class rating, by sounding less story like. I think a good example of an article dealing with the article's subject is [[Anthony Centracchio]]. Note how within the article about Anthony Centracchio the editors seemed to preface each statement by stating who said it and then used an inline citation to support who did the saying. In this article it sounds as if the editors made all the statements. ~~~~

Use to work with images or other files within articles.

Use the below statement when deleting references from External links:

already used as a reference (see Wikipedia:Layout#Standard appendices#External links)

Find an example and edit the instructions with the example. Learn to look for this and then use it.

edit

To help prevent dead links, persistent identifiers are available for some sources. Some journal articles have a digital object identifier (DOI); some online newspapers and blogs, and also Wikipedia, have permalinks that are stable. When permanent links aren't available, consider archiving the referenced document when writing the article; on-demand web archiving services such as WebCite (http://www.webcitation.org) are fairly easy to use (see pre-emptive archiving).

Look into possibly using this.

Notes with references

edit

Use the following to create a note with reference:
{{#tag:ref|[.... note message which may include links etc.........use the standard citation method....<ref>{{cite web |etc.}}</ref>|group="nb"}}

to create a "Notes" section
==Notes==
{{reflist|group=nb}} or <references group="nb"/>

Sources

edit

==Sources== <!--Hardcopy or soft (e.g., PDF, digitized books, etc) sources from which specific pages are cited. -->

use {{vc}} for citations in question
look at this Wikipedia:Classification of sources from time to time.

{{Failed verification}} (appears as: [failed verification]) – in-line note that a source says something other than what is contained in the text. Explain in detail on talk page.

Good "mombster" article is Anthony Centracchio

edit

This might be a standard section I may want to use on other mobster articles that sound "story like".

The following will render the quoted statement:

Seems like a pattern is emerging in these articles. Pknkly (talk) 20:05, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

How and why to set and use categories.

Use this {{CatDiffuse}} to indicate categories within which articles may need to be placed into subcategories.
