I've added a new gallery. Please add your pictures again but follow these instructions. 1.Go to upload file. 2.Select that the file is in fact entirely your own work (the first choice) 3.browse for the file. 4.before uploading.. add a description in the box AND choose "public domain" in the license area. 5.after uploading add it to the gallery.

The world must see all these massacres!

I hope I've helped.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Contrieng (talkcontribs) 19:47, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I have added a new image numbered 13 in the gallery but it replaced one that you already added. I'm sorry for that, but you were adding too fast for me that by the time i uploaded and added you had already added many pictures. i don't know how to fix it. Please keep the picture I added as it is striking. thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by Contrieng (talkcontribs) 14:30, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Dr.Fawzi Al Hammouri

edit
A tag has been placed on Dr.Fawzi Al Hammouri requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Paste (talk) 16:00, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Glucocorticoid remediable aldosteronism, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.endotext.org/pediatrics/pediatrics9/ch01s03.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 13:29, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Please read our Image Use Policy: these images are copyrighted, and you can't add images to Wikipedia which are copyrighted. The image will be deleted soon. If you have any questions on copyright or on how you can improve Wikipedia, don't hesitate to contact me. --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 12:39, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
They are certainly good pictures. Unfortunately, Wikipedia only allows images which are free from copyright. Our philosophy is to promote free culture. All the images in acromegaly for example, can be used without copyright restrictions. Please read the introduction to WP:NONFREE for more information. Most textbooks are copyrighted, so don't upload images from there. Don't worry, it's a classic newcomer mistake, I did it myself when I first wanted to help Wikipedia. Alternative ways of finding and uploading useful images are discussed here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Patient_images#Uploading_alternatives . --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 12:53, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Editing the images will not help, and neither will creating a new image with the exact same complications listed, because this also infringes copyright. However, if you use an empty picture of a human body from Wikimedia Commons and create a diagram from there, and you ALSO change the wording of the complications (explaining things in your own words) and add more (or less), i.e. if you create an alternative yourself, it can be allowed. A good place to start is here: Häggström series. --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 12:59, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, that's very kind of you to say. Don't be discouraged, there's a learning curve for Wikipedia, and many people like me are willing to help newcomers.
We would be very happy to have you as a member of WikiProject Medicine: check out WP:MED, signup is here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Medicine/Participants.
By the way, if you have trouble creating the images, you could also simply make a request to User:Mikael Häggström. --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 13:19, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:SamiSalem.png

edit
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:SamiSalem.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add , without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? (ESkog)(Talk) 20:09, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I have removed the two speedy deletion tags that you placed on this page. Please note that for an article to be speedy deleted it must meet one of the criteria in WP:CSD and the reason for requesting speedy deletion must be specified. TerriersFan (talk) 01:00, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello. Concerning your upload of the image File:SheikahmedyassinPIC.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted images obtained from other sources, without the permission of the author(s). This image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.palestine-info.com/arabic/spfiles/yaseen/1.jpg and other places on the internet. As a copyright violation, File:SheikahmedyassinPIC.jpg falls under the speedy deletion criteria and has been deleted.

If you believe that the image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under a free license then you should do one of the following:
 • If you have permission from the author, leave me a message explaining the details and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
 • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the <pick a free licence> or released into the public domain leave me a message at my talk page with a link to where I can find that note.
 • If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:File:SheikahmedyassinPIC.jpg.
 • Or alternately drop me a note about this file if I have misunderstood something.

⚠
Thanks for uploading Image:Specialty Hospital.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Hyperkalemia.gif

edit

Nice image you made. Pretty cool how you can efficiently summarize much of the article in a single image. One recommendation that I'd have about the Diff Dx would be to eliminate lethal injection, since that would be a pretty obvious cause ;-) On the other hand, it might actually be reasonable to put pseudohyperkalemia back into the DiffDx, since that sometimes *is* the cause for elevations of the measured K. Great job. Dan Levy (talk) 14:51, 10 January 2009 (UTC).

I moved your image slightly, so it has its own section, now. I like the image, although I have to say that I'm not sure that it should be so prominent. I say this for two reasons. First, because it purports to be an article summary, but if the article is changed, others can't really edit the mindmap. Second, because it is by nature a terse summary of the text, it can be misleading in several ways. For example, while mild hyperventilation is mentioned in the Symptoms section, it is not really a symptom of hyperkalemia, and thus the mindmap is is sort of giving misinformation. If it is to stay so prominent, I'd recommend the following changes:
-As above, would remove lethal inj from DiffDx and move Pseudohyperkalemia into its place
-Remove mild hyperventalation and "when metabolic acidosis is cause" from symptoms
-Would change top two lines of DIAGNOSIS to "repeat blood test to rule out pseudohyperkalemia"
-Would remove mention of Ultrasound and EKG from the DIAGNOSIS section, since they don't provide any information regarding the *diagnosis* of hyperkalemia.
Again, I think that this is a wonderful contribution but 1) I'm not sure that it should be so large and prominent, and 2) it needs some editing so as not to be misleading. Thanks. Dan Levy (talk) 23:53, 11 January 2009 (UTC).

I saw that you were temporarily blocked from editing. Don't take it too personally.....The administrators are elected to their role for a good reason, because without them Wikipedia would be absolute chaos. If they don't adhere strictly to copyright rules, the whole community is at risk. Anyway, I'm assuming that it was you who made the MindMaps. But since you can't edit for the next few days, I'm going to take the image off the Hyperkalemia page for now. When you've been able to make the changes to the GIF file, just paste the following text back into the article (without the "nowiki" tags).Dan Levy (talk) 19:19, 12 January 2009 (UTC).

==Summary image== Hyperkalemiasum.gif

Would it be possible to make that new image display slightly larger? It should not necessarily be huge enough to be legible, but enough that some structure can be seen on low-resolution displays would be nice. Also, there are a variety of icons that appear to be trying to convey meaning, but are unlabeled. - Eldereft (cont.) 15:48, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Whitephosphorousmunitions.jpeg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hi,

to reply to the question you asked me: yes, there are some sites which have images you can use.

 • you can use all images already found on Commons
 • Some US government sites have material in the public domain, although you should check each image individually.
 • Pictures from sites which have a Creative Commons Attribution (ShareAlike or not) license are allowed, but not when they have a Non-Commercial or NoDerivates license.

Some good sites to check are mentioned here:

In view of you getting blocked, it might be better not to upload any images for a while, but instead ask other people (like me) if it would be appropriate to use an image, and we could then upload it for you.

Fair use rationale for File:AAAUlogo.PNG

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:AAAUlogo.PNG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Speedy deletion of File:MULOGO00212.jpeg

edit
A tag has been placed on File:MULOGO00212.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

Once you corrected your issues, you are good to remove the tags that I placed on your images. But, make sure, you add proper copyright status for those images. For the most part, as i noticed, you either didn't provide proper copyright status for logos or you failed to provide detailed fair-use rationale, for copyrighted images. If you still need an example, do let me know, I can can help you with that. Happy editing - Sasikiran (talk) 16:07, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi,

as User:Gwen Gale already explained to you, secondary sources are needed to write an article that is both neutral and verifiable. A quick Google check revealed no appropriate sources; thus, I don't see how an article can be written at this point. But perhaps more resources are available in Arabic, which might be a good source.

Orphaned non-free media (File:GJULOGO2.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:GJULOGO2.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Marshall syndrome

edit

Hi,

great work! I've made some changes to the Marshall syndrome article. Here are some tips:

 1. Avoid overlinking; most terms should only be wikilinked once per article.
 2. Avoid jargon like orofacial.
 3. Avoid using bold or italic style in the body of the article. Italics are generally used only for Latin words, and bold for redirects.
 4. Use downstyle capitalisation, for example, write "Joint changes" instead of "Joint Changes".

I'll add an infobox as well.

Let me know if you have further questions.

--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 19:24, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Also, you can use Dave Iberri's excellent template filler tool to easily generate references from PubMed. Finally, Mozilla has an excellent spell checker (for capital letters and general misspelling).
Overall, the best part I liked about these great articles is that they were genuinely missing articles that were redlinks in other articles. --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 20:16, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

edit

Regarding Marshall syndrome, PAPA syndrome, and Bart syndrome, let me start by thanking you for creating these articles, and with inline citations and references. It is always nice to have help with dermatology related topics. After looking though the articles, here are some suggestions:

 • When placing an inline citation, make sure you are putting each individual reference in ref tags. Also, if you do not want to directly cite a source, you can simply have just a general "references" section (look at Knuckle pads for example). For more information on good referencing, see WP:DERM, or more specifically WP:DERM:REF.
 • With regard to categories, never leave an article without one. If you need help finding the right category for a dermatology article, reference WP:DERM:CAT and find the header a disease has been place under at list of skin-related conditions, which will correspond to the initial category an article should be placed in.

Hope this helps! kilbad (talk) 19:33, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Additional new articles

edit

Are you interested in creating any additional new dermatology articles? kilbad (talk) 21:26, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

 • I think working together, sharing thoughts and opinions, is always a great idea. Thanks again. kilbad (talk) 21:51, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Looks good...

 • With regard to citations, I do not think you need a line break with every element of the citation tag (someone please correct me if I am wrong) so I removed those line breaks. Additionally, inline citations can be placed after a period if coming at the end of a sentence. However, the fact you are providing citations is a great thing.
 • Also, for dermatology related article stubs, on the discussion page, please include the following tags: and medical subjects as these help us to assess the state of derm related content on Wikipedia. I have included these tags on the Lelis syndrome discussion page, so please that for an example.
 • You can also include Dermatology-stub in dermatology stubs as well, which I also included in your article.

However, again, great work. Thank you so much for your help! kilbad (talk) 00:02, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

I made some edits to the article. Please look at the article history for things you can work on. kilbad (talk) 00:18, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:ASPUlogo.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

 • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
 • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

I failed the GAN and withdrew the FAC for the article. The article is not ready for either processes. Please spend more time working on the article, and when it is ready, bring it back to GAN first, and then to FAC afterward. Thanks. Gary King (talk) 19:08, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

I appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but it is best if featured articles are nominated by people who have worked closely on them. In this way, they can give reasoned replies to reviewers and be familiar enough with the sources to act on suggested improvements. Someone who has not worked on the article can not provide this input, so the nomination may continue until opposition to it becomes so overwhelming that the article is failed; this takes away time from reviewers. While the Atorvastatin article is of reasonable quality, it is not yet of featured quality, and principal contributors must be consulted before a nomination, as required in the featured article candidate instructions. Dabomb87 (talk) 19:10, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Also, please note that articles should not be at GAN and FAC at the same time. Dabomb87 (talk) 19:16, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Sure! I think it would be good if you set up a peer review for the article. Then, you can ask editors who are knowledgeable in medical subjects to peer review the article and give advice for a future GAN and FAC. I will also try to help out. Regards, Dabomb87 (talk) 22:29, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
P.S. I think the wording of your reply message is off, do you mean "Please Reply To Me On my Talk Page."? Dabomb87 (talk) 22:29, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

 • Always include new articles in a category
