HistoryEdit

When the newscast first aired on June 29, 1996 as The Weekend News replaced the weekend edition of The World Tonight, it first used English as its primary language. The Weekend News switched to Filipino on August 21, 1999 due to low ratings on English newscasts. It was relaunched as ABS-CBN Weekend News on March 17, 2001 as part of the network's major programming changes. The network then launched TV Patrol Weekend on May 9 and 15, 2004 and the newscast ended on August 26, 2007.
