Country/Nation in infobox

edit

This should either have a variable for the Country/Nation, or not auto-wikilink the "city" variable so that the country can be put in it (article code would include any linkage, EG "[[Moosic, Pennsylvania]], USA") without ending up with Moosic, Pennsylvania, USA. Cap insignia required

edit

This template should be changed so that the cap insignia is not required, i.e. so that it still formats correctly without a cap image. Kaldari (talk) 18:19, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Template changes

edit

Appropriately the info box should be modified. The city info line should be changed to current city and add a info line for former city below that. Silvercoindinerman (talk) 02:32, 22 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Info box should be modified to this:
<!-- Infobox begins -->
{{Infobox MiLB
|name =
|founded city =
|current city =
|city =
|misc =
|logo =
|uniformlogo =
|class level =
|past class level=
|current league =
|conference =
|division =
|past league =
|majorleague =
|pastmajorleague =
|nickname =
|colors =
|pastnames =
|ballpark =
|pastparks =
|classchamps =
|leaguechamps =
|conferencechamps=
|divisionchamps =
|misc6 =
|owner =
|manager =
|gm =
}}<!-- Infobox ends -->

New infobox

edit

I've created an alternate infobox template because most MiLB teams were founded in a different city instead of being founded in their current city. Silvercoindinerman (talk) 17:42, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Excessive bolding

edit

What's up with nearly everything in this template being rendered bold? See Albuquerque Isotopes. It's very shouty, fannish, and not very encyclopedic, in the sense of calm, measured, and neutral presentation, IMHO. Can we get some discussion about this? --Lexein (talk) 11:27, 18 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

The majority of what you are seeing in bold are the headers for each bit of information and they should be bold to set them apart from the information. The only other thing bolded I believe is current team which also should be bolded to set it apart from past teams. -DJSasso (talk) 16:03, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Logos

edit

I don't know if this is just because of my iPad, but the logos are somewhat slanted to the right. ZappaOMati 03:30, 3 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hmm. Mine are to the left. --Bongwarrior (talk) 22:45, 3 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Woops, I wrote the wrong alignment. I was editing at 10 pm, so I guess I wrote wrong. XP ZappaOMati 03:57, 5 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Logo size

edit

Hello, Is there any way to change the size of the logo image? I've tried different ways to do it, but it won't work. Sparkyb10123 (talk) 18:30, 27 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

No, but as it applies to Greeneville Reds, the best approach is eliminating as much white space around the logo as possible. (As I have done.) NatureBoyMD (talk) 19:10, 27 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

All parameters example

edit

Some templates include an example showing all parameters. Not sure if that's needed here, but I think the following would be correct. -- Pemilligan (talk) 18:09, 9 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Minor League player/coach infobox

edit

I apologize if this has already been discussed, but why is there not an infobox for individual Minor League players and coaches? Is this something I would be allowed to create?

Thanks! MiddleAgedBanana (talk) 04:07, 15 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Necessity of some parameter fields?

edit

There are a few parameter fields that I am noticing do not satisfy the purpose and general design considerations of MOS:INFOBOX, in which this article states:

  • The less information it contains, the more effectively it serves that purpose, allowing readers to identify key facts at a glance.
  • Is it summary information, or more extended detail that may be better placed within the body of an article?

The list of parameters that I believe fail the key points noted above are:

  • |past class level=
  • |past league=
  • |past major league=
  • |pastparks=

This information is not useful to readers looking to quickly identify key facts. This information can all be found within the article. –Aidan721 (talk) 01:53, 27 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

I think the information presented in those parameters are key facts. Former classifications, leagues, affiliates, and ballparks are key details about a team that ought to be presented in the infobox rather than buried in the prose. I often go to a team page knowing I can quickly get that info from the infobox. … Another consideration is that while the documentation’s example for a defunct team doesn’t utilize those parameters, the vast majority of defunct teams do. NatureBoyMD (talk) 02:31, 27 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
To me, these parameters are equivalent to listing all the team's former head coaches and general managers. Obviously that information is not useful to the general user looking to gain quick key facts about the team's current status. The average reader is not looking for who the MLB affiliate was in 1967. That information is not needed in the infobox. –Aidan721 (talk) 19:56, 27 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I disagree with you on that subject. The leagues and affiliations are key pieces of information about the team that people would likely be looking for when perusing these articles. Coaches are far less important as they change frequently but if you are looking up a team it is likely you would want to know what teams they were affiliated with or what league they played in. This is key info and should not be removed. Spanneraol (talk) 20:54, 27 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I also think these are key facts about the team's history and very strongly oppose the idea of removing them. oknazevad (talk) 21:36, 12 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • I agree that these parameters provide key facts. However, I am in favor of removing the past league entries for the level/region-based league names resulting from the MiLB Reorganization of 2021. Since all of the current leagues are now considered continuations of the original ones by the sources (the MiLB announcement seems to be used almost universally), and the 2022 name reversion has been extensively documented in league and team article prose, there does not seem to be any reason to have separate entries for them. After removal, a team's current league entry would then contain either the year they joined their current league or "2021", if they joined it under the corresponding level/region-based league name. Any other past league entries for the current league name terminating in 2020 would be removed as well. Waz8:T-C-E 04:04, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Since "Low-A" was simply (in this case) renamed "Single-A" in 2022, I also propose eliminating past class level entries for it and, instead, listing Single-A teams' class level as "Single-A (2021–present)". Waz8:T-C-E 04:11, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
