How can we make "educational assignment" link to WP:Assignments for student editors? Biosthmors (talk) 07:43, 3 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Icon

edit

I'd like to change the icon from the little "i" information symbol to something that evokes education. Any suggestions? Gobōnobō + c 20:32, 16 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Commons has a few icons related to education, some of which are in commons:category:Education icons. I kind of like this: File:Open book 01.svg. There are some other education icons we could use from The Noun Project: http://thenounproject.com/noun/education . Nothing jumps out to me as exceptional, but anything will be better than the generic "i".--Sage Ross (WMF) (talk) 14:18, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
I changed the image to File:Graduation cap.png. I like File:Open book 01.png too. Feel free to change if you like. Gobōnobō + c 05:03, 21 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Some of us are in the Southern Hemisphere!

edit

I am based in the Southern Hemisphere, and am running my course in what we call "Semester One." However, the "Article Banner" (which I think I am not able to edit) says that my course is being run in "Spring 2015." In fact, it is autumn here now. Is it possible to have some article banners which are hemisphere-neutral perhaps? Humanrights4nz (talk) 07:59, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Humanrights4nz: I've changed it to "Semester One 2016". You can edit it by pressing 'Edit' at the top of the course page (Education Program:University of Canterbury/International Human Rights Law (Semester One 2016)) rather than using the section edit buttons, and then change the 'term' parameter in that template.--ragesoss (talk) 20:40, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! Humanrights4nz (talk) 02:59, 8 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Problem with the template

edit

See my report at Wikipedia:Education_noticeboard#Problem_with_Article_banners_.28Template:Course_assignment.29. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:51, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

the report is now at Wikipedia:Education_noticeboard/Archive_14#Problem_with_Article_banners_.28Template:Course_assignment.29. I wish this was automated instead of requiring individuals to chase down archived versions. Ottawahitech (talk) 15:07, 1 September 2016 (UTC)please ping meReply

Multiple assignements

There is a question concerning multiple assignments banners. Yout feed back is appreciated. Beagel (talk) 22:44, 23 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wbm1058 Thanks for noticing that it didn't work properly! There is code for it to not link to the education program pages and give a suitable text (and there has been for a long time). The problem with this is that it didn't handle underscores in the link which I've now fixed. Also worth noting that the category wasn't applied to pages with underscores like Talk:Food for the same reason. There shouldn't be any more issues now. --Trialpears (talk) 15:12, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for clearing that up. If the category I created is to be deleted, which I suppose it should be now with resolution of that template bug, then I'll copy my link from the category page to here, so there is some record of what became of the pages in the removed Education Program namespace. Clearly from the closed Phabricators on this issue, there is no desire to keep a public record of program activities during this time period.
See Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 171#Special pages for the Education Program – what happened to them? wbm1058 (talk) 15:57, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't say that there is no desire to keep a public record of program activities during this time period; lots of people complained, but no one was willing to put in the work to make it happen. It's still possible to re-create the contents of those pages, as the data is available at https://dumps.wikimedia.org/other/educationprogram/, but again, someone has to be willing to do it. * Pppery * it has begun... 20:05, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
