Some Neutrality issues? edit
I really appreciate this page creator's effort in giving a well-written, detailed account of Zhou's life and activism and, most importantly, introducing him to the English-speaking audience through creating a page from scratch. I guess I just have some minor issue with the neutrality and citation of this page (I actually don't know if neutrality is really that significant in this sort of Wikipedia writing, but I think it's worth discussing here considering the controversialness of students activists like Zhou as considered by many.) For instance, the following sentence:
"Zhou actively participates in discussions on campuses across the U.S. in an effort to bring about awareness to students who are unfamiliar with the matter. "
I doubted if the word "actively" is the best expression here. If he is still really "active" in visiting different campuses giving talks, this sentence should either 1) provide a citation that shows how frequently he's been in this effort; or 2) followed by more evidence than merely his visit to Wesleyan to support this inference? Also "in an effort to bring about awareness to students who are unfamiliar with the matter" seems less credible than it could have been. I guess the main issue is still lack of citation--did Zhou say that this is his purpose and hope, or is it the wiki contributor's own interpretation? In contrast, by putting the "purpose" part in a quote, the following sentence reads much better:
Zhou became the President of Chinese Democracy Education Foundation in an effort to promote "the prosperity and progress of Chinese society for democracy, freedom and human rights."
Besides, I also wonder where this sentence specifically comes from--I checked the citation provided at the end of the sentence, which is the website of this foundation, and couln't find a transcript of his speech or any other rather complete record. This is not a major problem and I'm asking just out of curiosity as someone who almost transcribed the entire talk of that day : )
"For our generation, it was the biggest event. I feel lucky to have been a part. Most people only remember the bloodshed and the massacre, but what people really need to remember is what had happened before the crackdown. It was the one time I experienced the beautiful character of the Chinese people longing for a democratic China where we could freely speak our minds."
I also think this entry can be supplemented with more quotes like this to give a fuller picture of Zhou's political thoughts besides the existing ones, which are already pretty well-down!
