Talk:Yellow Line (BART)

Just a note here: since the maintenance yard is still near Concord station, there are still "Concord trains" during rush hour. I assume they use them early in the rush-hour period so that they can have a quicker return into downtown service to assist with the peak rush period, but I have no evidence of this (it's the sort of thing that BART would likely be happy to confirm over the phone or e-mail, I suspect.)

I have seen it cause confusion, though most regular commuters seem to know the drill. All the same, I'll occasionally miss a Concord-bound train and find a Bay Point consist right behind it. A disproportionate number of people seem to board the second train, accounting for riders going past Concord or arriving on the platform after the Concord train left. It's usually easy to get a seat on a Concord train, even when all the other lines are full.

Also, it may be worth mentioning that the Bay Point trains tend to have extra dwell time at 12th st oakland city center station, to allow passengers on the Richmond line to transfer. It's a well-coordinated system, since you just cross the platform and board the opposite train. Typically they'll hold for two to three minutes to allow passengers to cross.

Future extension? edit

BART is planning the Pitsburg/Bay Point line to be built all the way to Brentwood in the future.

Actually, I believe the extension will be the DMU standard-gauge eBART service, not the broad-gauge electric BART service in use now. 76.21.8.213 (talk) 08:08, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Upcoming naming considerations edit

Not going to file a move request just yet, but this article will likely need a rename later this month. The new GTFS file came out today, and it has "Antioch–SFIA/Millbrae" as the line name. That incorporates two interesting changes: one, that eBART is being treated as an integral part of the line, rather than a connecting service. Two, that BART uses "SFIA" rather than "SFO" for the airport. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 22:40, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

The public side says "Antioch - SFO/Millbrae" so I would use that for now. Calwatch (talk) 04:27, 25 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I've pasted in the info from the eBART page to this page, but if someone could move the maps and tables that would be greatly appreciated. Also, the line is BART to Antioch - eBART is only used for the construction of the line but there should be no reference to eBART in the operation of the Pittsburg-Antioch section of the Antioch-SFO/Millbrae line. Why are you attempting to remove all mentions to "eBART"? It's still widely used both by the press and by BART for the operational line. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 04:30, 27 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Move discussion in progress edit

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Bay Area Rapid Transit which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 22:32, 10 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
