Wolfgang Fischer-Lauterbach
editNote there is also a German painter named Wolfgang Fischer-Lauterbach, born 1939. Not to be confused. Superp (talk) 21:20, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
User "Beltracchi" and the Beltracchi Project
editPer 9 October 2012 user "Beltracchi" became active both here and on the German WP, and started editing Wolfgang Beltracchi as well as de:Wolfgang Beltracchi. Nothing dramatic, apart from obvious wp:COI issues. His edits focus around removing a link to the Beltracchi Project and adding one to Homepage Wolfgang Beltracchi.
"Beltracchi" has asserted the Beltracchi Project does no longer exist per 1 September 2012. There is however no reliable source for that. More importantly, Wolfgang Beltracchi became involved with the Beltracchi Project after his conviction and therefore a link to the projects' website is relevant, even after the project has closed. His involvement is mentioned in several newspaper and magazine articles (see the article).
The link to the Wolfgang Beltracchi homepage has repeatedly been removed from de:Wolfgang Beltracchi as being non-informative, but from my point of view it does not hurt to keep it here.
Therefore, as of this moment, we have both links, and I urge "Beltracchi" to stop removing the Beltracchi Project link. Thank you! Superp (talk) 10:28, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure who Mark Feider is
editI have removed all references to Mark Feider from the article. There is no mention of him in any of the cited articles, and the only references to him that I can find online are all unsourced claims, and are all written in nearly-identical sentences. It looks like an ouroboros situation to me, but if someone stumbles across this page and can do better (perhaps in non-English sources), please add him back in with sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cdphelan (talk • contribs) 23:44, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
How Beltracchi was found out
editIt should be added how Beltracchi was found out. He had bought a tube of zinc white in the Netherlands. That however contained two per cent of undeclared titanium white that was not in use when the picture had allegedly been painted. Source: his own statement in an interview for German television, produced by Wolfgang Müller for 3sat.de. Ontologix (talk) 17:51, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
Last sentence in the intro
editThe sentence "Beltracchi was freed on January 9, 2015, having served just over three years in prison.[9]" is not correct. According to the source, he was freed a "little over three years after being convicted in October 2011". But he was already arrested on 27 August 2010. In Germany the time of imprisonment on remand is considered as part of the actual sentence. Therefore, he spend more than 4 and a quarter year in prison. --2A01:C22:D13C:4800:2D07:9835:BE6C:4DFA (talk) 21:17, 18 December 2021 (UTC)
