Some edits a few months ago have rejected the documented parentage of William, as son of (an) Adelaide, a relationship that appears in two contemporary records and has been fully cited. The explanation given for this is that William could not have married the daughter of Fulk I were his mother Fulk's granddaughter. While entirely true, the problem is not with William (b. say 976) being grandson of Fulk II (b. ca. 905). The problem is with William (b. say 976) being son-in-law of Fulk I (b. ca. 870, d. 940).
