Talk:Washington Nationals minor league players

Untitled edit

Based on Wikipedia's guidelines for notability of baseball players, Lucas Giolito, Tony Renda and Wilmer Difo should be listed here as well instead of having separate articles.Mustangeagle (talk) 18:59, 19 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge with R.C. Orlan edit

Based on the sources, it's clear he doesn't meet WP:GNG. If he plays in the WBC next month, he will meet WP:NBASEBALL, but that's not assured. This should be merged until he makes a WBC appearance. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:21, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

It no where says he needs to make an appearance in the game in WP:NBASE. If you read point 2 it states "Have appeared in at least one game in any one of the following active major leagues: Major League Baseball, Nippon Professional Baseball, KBO League, or have participated in a major international competition (such as the World Baseball Classic, Baseball World Cup or Olympics) as a member of a national team." For the leagues yes it says appear, however when it comes to WBC it makes a clear distinction and says participates. So depending on how you define participating in the tournament it can be very different than appearing. He is named to the roster and his name is being used to help promote the appearance, in addition to having playing in the qualifying round. To me this meets the criteria of participation. Playing and participating are not the same thing, and the fact that the criteria differentiate it is clearly done for a reason. - GalatzTalk 04:28, 5 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I forgot about this until I saw you take down the tag. "Participating" is a clear yes/no thing. He has not yet participated, because it hasn't happened yet. WP:BASEBALL consensus was that the qualifiers don't count towards WP:NBASE. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:46, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I agree with the above but since the Classic is happening pretty soon i think we can wait on merging until we find out if he actually participates or not. Spanneraol (talk) 23:36, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge with Robert Benincasa edit

Not notable on his own. Many of the cited sources are not those that confer notability, merely confirming his existence (like the subjective top prospect lists). – Muboshgu (talk) 21:48, 25 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'm not really sure what to do with Benincasa. He hasn't played in a game this year and while MiLB.com lists him as being "active" with the Harrisburg Senators, he doesn't appear anywhere on the team website and he's not on any roster. In short, I don't know that the notion he is still officially part of the Nationals organization meets WP:V. Seeing as how he lacks the notability for his article to stand alone and seeing as how his affiliation with the Nationals organization is fuzzy at best, I would support deletion. -Kudzu1 (talk) 23:04, 25 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
