Gold Star
editIt is factually incorrect to say "where he received a Gold Star in lieu of a second Purple Heart." The gold star is in no way a substitute for the second award of any medal. I do not know if you get a physical second medal, but your second award of the same medal is just as real as the first. It is recorded in every way as though you had never won one. But (particularly with the purple heart) it is thought that wearing sever copies of the same medal looked bad, so instead you indicate on your uniform your multiple awards with Gold Star.Nick Beeson (talk) 03:00, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
