Series or seasons? edit

It says it ran for five "series" - in the US it would be seasons but I don't know about the UK. Help? Tualha (Talk) 02:06, 22 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Series" is British usage where Americans would say "season". -- 02:36, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Series 5 has been shown in the US, or at least part of the US. I've seen it, either on the New Jersey or the Lehigh Valley PBS station (I've watched the show on both channels)71.185.9.9 (talk) 03:10, 4 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Series 5 has been shown on Maryland Public Television as well. 69.171.176.199 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:21, 8 April 2010 (UTC).Reply

Basil Makepeace description edit

I admit it's a while since I've seen this programme, but it was one of my favourites at the time. I'm not particularly happy with the suggestion that Basil Makepeace "sexually harrassed" the female residents. From what I recall, they were usually happy with the attention, and Tom and Diana generally referred to him as "Bonking Baz", giving the impression that he was more than successful in his intentions. I think describing his actions as sexual harrassment is massively wide of the mark. J1960 (talk) 01:11, 15 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Agreed. I've changed it. Halmyre (talk) 14:16, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Also, agreed. David Spector (user/talk) 14:16, 25 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Waitingforgodlogo.jpg edit

Image:Waitingforgodlogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 03:25, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Allusion edit

An IP editor added

"The name of the show is an obvious allusion to the Samuel Beckett play, Waiting for Godot"

Could be, but without a source, it's WP:OR. --Lexein (talk) 06:32, 7 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

The first episode establishes that Diana feels perpetually down, as if her life were over, and so she is just waiting to see God. Even if the pun were unintended, it's a great title for the show. David Spector (user/talk) 14:20, 25 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

The run edit

I added "was" to the opening because the show ran until 1994 (ie. no longer). The Hawk Spy (talk) 08:05, 13 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
