Please stop changing the slogan from "Dependable Local Coverage" to "Independable Local Coverage". The slogan is on the top of the station's webpage, for crissakes. Independable isn't even a word. --Mareino 16:03, 3 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

That big 2 from the 70s edit

I made a start on a logo gallery today, and while I have a few of the pictures, I don't have the solid history behind them. Anybody know when they started using the stylized 2 and when they retired it? I'm pretty sure it lasted into the 90s in one form or another. --Enwilson 20:43, 4 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

You're right, Enwilson, that abstract 2 logo did the last into the 90s as I remember. --roygerdodger 19:56, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Morning shows edit

I don't think WFMY pre-empted everything CBS tried in the morning. I was a loyal viewer of Captain Kangaroo. How do you explain that?Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 19:13, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Adding unreferenced entries of former employees to lists containing BLP material edit

Hello, Please do not add unreferenced names as entries to the list of former employees in articles. Including this type of material in articles does not abide by current consensus and its inclusion is strongly discouraged in our policies and guidelines. The rationales are as follows:

  1. WP:NOT tells us, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." As that section describes, just because something is true, doesn't necessarily mean the info belongs in Wikipedia.
  2. As per WP:V, we cannot include information in Wikipedia that is not verifiable and sourced.
  3. WP:Source list tells us that lists included within articles (including people's names) are subject to the same need for references as any other information in the article.
  4. Per WP:BLP, we have to be especially careful about including un-sourced info about living persons.

If you look at articles about companies in general, you will not find mention of previous employees, except in those cases where the employee was particularly notable. Even then, the information is not presented just as a list of names, but is incorporated into the text itself (for example, when a company's article talks about the policies a previous CEO had, or when they mention the discovery/invention of a former engineer/researcher). If a preexisting article is already in the encyclopedia for the person you want to add to a list, it's generally regarded as sufficient to support their inclusion in list material in another article. cheers Deconstructhis (talk) 02:23, 7 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Roch101 blog as a source edit

24.163.17.105 (talk) restored material referenced in a blog and posted concerns on my talk page. I've removed that material again as it does not meet WP:RS, specifically the section on user generated content. As there are other reliable sources used here on the subject of questions raised about WFMY's coverage of flash mobs, inclusion of this blog serves only to promote the blog and not to improve the article.--RadioFan (talk) 19:45, 5 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

This material has again been removed as a self published source is not a sufficiently reliable citation for such a significant claim. Once that claim is removed the remaining section is sourced reasonably but is no longer notable (i.e. WFMY reported it, Police found nothing). Claims that local politicians have questioned WFMY's reporting techniques or ethics are serious and must be backed up by reliable sources. If this continues the article will be protected from further editing.--RadioFan (talk) 03:17, 19 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

digital programming section edit

This section should remain near the end of the article. It certainly doesn't belong at the top.--RadioFan (talk) 01:17, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

External links modified edit

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on WFMY-TV. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.

Circa 1981 News Operation Overhaul & Reference to Former News Anchor Susan Kidd edit

On December 23, 2018, I added material about a major overhaul of the WFMY-TV news operation circa 1981 and about former news anchor Susan Kidd. I added sources to authenticate my contentions. Within a few hours of adding that material, another user removed it, claiming that it was irrelevant. I disagree. The major overhaul circa 1981 of the WFMY-TV news operation was covered in a documentary about local television news, as I referenced as my source. It apparently was a significant pivot point in the station's history. Susan Kidd later was a prominent longtime television journalist in Washington, D.C. I am not restoring my additions (which were 100% removed), but am adding this to the talk page so that others can help decide what to do. Jab73 (talk) 05:31, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
