History

Too bad there isn't, to my knowledge, a place to discuss ideas. I used to wonder how history "got wrong" on this series. I wondered if there was a rogue voyager going around disrupting time. My best idea is this: the Omni looks to be the state of the art in personal time travel technology. What would have been the old days technology? Probably a portal or a capsule device (like in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" that you stepped into. And perhaps in the early days of time travel, sometimes travelers were careless and introduced small errors. So, by the time the technology was refined down to the Omni, the Voyagers institute was founded to start sending properly-trained men and women to fix things. Somehow, somewhere, they obtained a record of proper, unaltered history. Otherwise, I can't imagine how else history could spontaneously "go wrong" and "need a push" to help it along! I'm Not sure how the Voyagers! started but thats a good therory as they never state in the Show, but they do show Drake in the "The Trial of Phinius Bogg" and in the Last episode he turned rouge and started messing up history so I'm assumeing they have had this happen bebore such as quantum leap the the good and bad leapers. --Chad 05:45, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Why history changed in the first place was a somewhat annoying plot device they never really explained. Another problem the show had was it was dependent the Great Man theory of history and if you had seen James Burke's Connections (which had used the Great Moment theory) in 1979 things didn't always make sense. Finally the problem of what if the world had turned out better and you had to fix things never came up.--BruceGrubb (talk) 21:42, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Omni = ?

I remember them calling it something like the Omnichron, as well. If you read Voyagers fan fiction (here, for example: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3816076/2/The_Crime_of_All_Time_TVC_Story_03) they also call it the Omnichron. DFS (talk) 22:09, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

timeless in his machismo

An editor has queried the origin of "Phineas was timeless in his machismo" via use of Template:According to whom. The change was introduced here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Voyagers%21&diff=prev&oldid=444397016 by a one-off editor who changed "a great womanizer" to "timeless in his machismo,". There is no attribution possible and the query will remain unresolved unless the text is changed. The term "womanizer" was likewise introduced by a one-off editor here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Voyagers%21&diff=prev&oldid=112542197 again with no attribution possible.
