How can the ships be the same length?

For LCS 3, the contractor has incorporated a design change to extend the transom by four meters to improve stability.

Why then is USS Cowtown the same length as Freedom? Hcobb (talk) 14:09, 25 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Hang on here, aren't all unclassified US Govt images in the public domain? (Yes I realize I'm asking a dumb bot. Maybe a smart entity will answer.) Dmforcier (talk) 23:46, 29 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Smart (alec) entity: That was 4 years ago. It's long gone. :) - BilCat (talk) 23:59, 29 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
<hee hee> I realize that. I was asking the question for future reference. Dmforcier (talk)
The "Hang on there" implied an urgency to stop the deletion, so it wasn't apparent you knew how old the post was. And yes, uncategorized US Government images are in the public domain, provided there's proof of their origin as such. Manufacturers often publish copyrighted images that are posted on Government websites, usually with a copyright or "courtesy of" notice, so we do have to be careful to make sure an image is correctly documented. That seems to have been the issue here. - BilCat (talk) 01:47, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Ah, okay. Thanks. Dmforcier (talk)

Reclassification

edit

According to Proceedings, the Navy Dept has decided to reclassify LCS as frigate (FF). (If we ever produce a mine countermeasures version that will likely be reclassified as MCM). So when will this occur and how will the various LCS articles be handled?
