Merge this article with HC Moscow Dynamo? edit

It seems to me that, while they technically merged with another club, this club seems to be a continuation of the historic HC Moscow Dynamo team. Perhaps the information from that page should be moved to this one, and that page should re-direct to this one? And the details of how the franchises merged together can be explained in the article.Djob (talk) 20:26, 7 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I agree and think this should be done. The club was somehow only called UHC Dynamo during the 2010–11 KHL season. But since last summer also the official KHL web site calls it Dynamo Moscow again. So I suggest to move the merger related content to the HC Dynamo Moscow article and then replace this article with a redirect. Most of the content is copied from the HC Dynamo Moscow article anyways. I started "reviving" the HC Dynamo Moscow article by adding more information on the merger. updating the info box and moving some information (roster). There is still some content to be moved and then I will replace this article with a redirect. I will proceed slowly, in case there are some objections. Wild8oar (talk) 08:55, 9 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
The official site still refers to it as UHC, for what its worth. --Львівське (говорити) 14:20, 9 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Ok, now I see it, it says United Hockey Club Dynamo Moscow. So we should keep the united somehow. But it certainly doesn't make sense to have the the articles UHC Dynamo and HC Dynamo Moscow in parallel. And anybody looking for information on Dynamo Moscow would go to the article with that name. In any case, I will add the "united" information to the article. Wild8oar (talk) 15:36, 9 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
The original HC Dynamo Moscow essentially folded into MVD. It was MVD's choice to start a NEW franchise under the Dynamo name, which has since dropped the 'UHC' from the name. The pages made sense the way they were -- one page for the 1946–2010 franchise and one page for the 2010–current franchise. Just like how there's a Winnipeg Jets (1972–96) page and a current Winnipeg Jets page, among other teams. Regardless of whether they've adopted club histories or not, the fact still remains that they are separate entities. So now you've unnecessarily split information up all over the place. Why are you calling the team UHC Dynamo on the actual page when the point of your merger is that they're not UHC anymore? Why didn't you just update this UHC page already in place to be the current HC Dynamo and move the other one to be titled HC Dynamo Moscow (1946–2010)? In the future, make sure you discuss these issues with the people that regularly monitor/update these pages, rather than taking it upon yourself to cause a giant mess. If you don't have enough knowledge about the subject to be making big changes like this, then you shouldn't be doing them to begin with.(saint0wen (talk) 03:00, 22 May 2012 (UTC))Reply
I agree with Saint Owen here. I mean, its kinda like the Cleavland Browns - but for that article they have 1 single article and follow League canon. I think we should take this discussion to the WP and get some more voices on it, and fix this mess one way or another. There definitely shouldn't be a UHC article separate from the current team, though, that's just silly. --Львівське (говорити) 05:41, 22 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Ok, first I have to apologize for my hasty edits. I should clearly have started a discussion first and waited for some consensus. However, the article were already very inconsistent before (almost all information was duplicated). And UHC Dynamo is certainly not the right article name for a club generally known as Dynamo Moscow. I am well aware of the history of the merger, but I still think that 1) the article about the current club should be called HC Dynamo Moscow (because that is what people would be looking for) and contain also information about the history before the merger. 2) UHC Dynamno should probably be redirected to the HC Dynamo Moscow article, as there is really no extra information that would only fit there. We are actually not very far from that goal, we just a few small statments clarifying the history. Wild8oar (talk) 06:23, 22 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

so whats going on, this article needs to be merged, and HC Dynamo Moscow renamed to "UHC Dynamo Moscow" if that's still the official name --Львівське (говорити) 21:03, 3 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

sounds good. I agree with this. Wild8oar (talk) 06:04, 4 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

After the club is now apparently just called "HC Dynamo Moscow" again (see official website), should we just redirect this article to HC Dynamo Moscow? Wild8oar (talk) 09:02, 27 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ok, due to the lack of objection, I am now going to turn this page into a redirect. 07:27, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
