Wrong/bad linking

edit

Family Scophthalmidae is linked to Genus Psetta maxima. This is not correct since family is not genus. The linking must be corrected.

(hopefully) sorted. Scophthalmidae is now an article. Totnesmartin 12:47, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Pronunication

edit

Writing the word with different letters in this fashion is not useful. I can't think of any way in which 'turbit' relates to any pronunciation of the name of this fish that is useful.

Photo

What on earth (or in the sea) is that supposed to be a photo of?

The copyrighted web page at http://www.pacseafood.com/products/flounder.html has much useful information about nomenclature and its misuse in the marketplace. It might be good to add it as an external reference. peter (talk) 00:32, 5 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Current taxonomic status

edit

Now it is related to Scophthalmus, see: Bailly N., Chanet B. (2010) Scophthalmus Rafinesque, 1810: The valid generic name for the turbot, S. maximus (Linnaeus, 1758) [Pleuronectiformes: Scophthalmidae]. Cybium, 34(3): 257-261. Also FishBase --Ykvach (talk) 12:31, 19 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Important why?

edit

I have an issue with "It is an important food fish."... Okay, but why is it important? I read the rest of the article and still have no clue. I went to the reference, read the entire page, and did not find the answer there either. I can only assume that it can be considered important because it may be a popular fish to eat in some place of the world? Could someone who knows more insert a reason or provide a bit more context? Something like "It is an important food fish, because [insert reason here]."
